  1. How many with the 3.6 AWD? What kind of numbers are you seeing?
  2. $250 was labor...I bought the mufflers and tips on eBay
  3. I'm sorry but the oversize wheel argument is poppycock! The stock wheel/tire combo is 730mm height. The set he put on is 738. So 8mm is barely over a quarter inch. He used the same size at all four corners so there isnt a speed differential. This is nothing more than warranty looking for a way to blame the owner. Total crap.
  4. I've never been a big fan of gray or silver for a car color but I have to admit the Bruiser Gray is a sharp looking color! Lets see some pics!
  5. By the way, I forgot to mention, WELCOME ABOARD! AND...thats one slick looking GT you got there! Exactly the kind of thing I'm leaning toward. (I love the slick roof...no rails!)
  6. While I'm still Journey shopping, I do have a 2013 Chrysler 200S with the same 3.6/ 6spd auto in the Journey. While the previous poster is correct about limited resources, the Pentastar does respond well to intake and exhaust mods. Granted, the different noise is the first thing you'll notice but the gains come as the rpms rise. The Pentastar makes its power numbers above 3500-4k where cam phasing really lets the engine breathe. The higher HP numbers on the RWD LX cars come almost exclusively from better exhaust and tuning. A better PCM tune can increase throttle response and shift point speed that make a noticeable improvement. Given the exhaust layout of the Journey, larger diameter pipe and better flowing components are the only options (just like I had with my 200S) The factory resonator is not restrictive and helps to silence the godforsaken highway drone. If you go with larger diameter pipe, keep a straight-thru design in place of the resonator. I chose a Flowmaster tube design. The Journey uses a Y-joint out back where my car has a transverse muffler, where I used a Magnaflow unit. In either case, I'd use a larger pipe (same size as resonator-back and I like the sound the Magnaflow unit deliver. The Flowmasters are just too raspy for my ears. You can easily gain 10-20hp but again, you wont feel much of that just buzzing around town unless you do the tune to up the throttle response. You can also get ported lower intake manifolds and 80mm throttle bodies if you want more umph!
  7. Plenty of issues? Thats a bit scary to read! LOL
  8. Could someone measure the width of the hatch spoiler? Just straight across, outside edge to edge? thanks!
  9. The 3.6 responds well to intake and exhaust mods, especially exhaust but the single pipe limits how much you can do. Larger diameter will help. The lower intake can be repleced with a ported unit and 80mm throttle bodies are available. A tune helps bring all these together but you'll need to run 91 octane or higher to get full benefit. Most of this stuff wont change puttering around much but over 4k rpm it will really wake up.
  10. I was thinking of something like this unit I put on our 2013 Escape which attached right over top of the factory unit, just extending it a few inches. I wasnt shooting for radical wing or airfoil type. (Actually I was curious if this same unit might fit with a little modding?) Measuring will be required
  11. I recall seeing similar type of thing with the Dodge Magnum where there was limited aftermarket pieces so more than a few folks made their own. Has anyone here modded their own hatch spoiler? If so, post up some pics!
  12. I tried Flowmasters on my Chrysler 200 3.6 and it was just too loud and the drone was horrible. I went with Magnaflows and I'm much happier with the sound and no drone. 3.5in stainless tips and all out the door for about $250
  13. I have a 2013 Chrysler 200S which uses the same drivetrain as the Journey. The K&N kit for an Avenger will probably work on the Journey but might require minor modification. The intake doesnt do much for the low end or cruising except maybe a little noise (it does sound good tho) but the gains come from higher rpm when the cam phasers kick in and the engine really starts to breathe. Above 4k rpm the you can feel the pull and the sound absolutely howls. Several aftermarket suppliers offer tunes and lower intake manifolds that are ported. The 80mm throttle body is also a popular mod. The 3.6 really responds best to exhaust mods but the RWD models get the benefit of getting true duals. My 200 vert is saddled with a single pipe but you can go with a larger pipe and I went with a Magnaflow resonator and muffler. It'll make more power with free flowing exhaust but the trade-off is how much noise can you tolerate? With the intake and exhaust mods, a tune will take full advantage of those changes.
  14. While I'm still in shopping mode, I know you cant have everything when getting a used car. I've never liked roof racks, and while I know they can be useful (I've seen them used lots of ways) I've never used one myself, and I love how much cleaner the roofline looks without it. So if thats the only downside to a nice used DJ, what am I looking at to take them off? Bolt holes to fill? Rivet plugs? Rubber grommets? Its also kind of unfortunate the R/T doesnt get a better rear spoiler
  15. Looking super sharp all around. I love the exhaust and the rear treatment. Nicely done!
  16. Just for info sake if anyone else wants to know, I found this on wheel-size.com Stock 17x6.5/ +44 R/T-SXT 19x7/ +40 Plus sizes... 19x8/ +35 20x8/ +35 Good starting point numbers...obviously open to personal variants! LOL I'm just surprised how limited the aftermarket choices are in the 5x5 bolt pattern.
  17. I can see how the third row can be beneficial for those occasions when needed (kids/grandkids) and they can be folded for most of the time. I've also noticed most of my Autotrader seaches knock out most of the nicely optioned models if I uncheck AWD...I hate it when that happens! LOL
  18. That is looking good...aggressive...I like! Thanks for the pics (diggin' the color too btw) Do we know the stock specs on those rims? width & offset?
  19. I'm guessing most R/T will be AWD? The rental I had was FWD and it handled mountain roads and some foul weather just fine. I loved the 8.4 Uconnect...much nicer than the one in my 2011 vert. I've added a K&N intake and Summit chambered muffs and the sound/power is too much fun. Which models come without the 3rd row seating? Or is that just a "check box" option on all? That feels like added weight also for something seldom used. I also posted in the Wheel/tire section about aftermarket rims...or should I have asked that here since I'm not an owner yet?
  20. Great! For starters, is the AWD system the same as the one used in the Jeep Cherokee? I've noticed quite a few equipped with AWD but my rental was FWD. I know I'll lean toward a more nicely equipped model w/sunroof/nav/etc, and since I'll be shopping used (2012-up) are there any certain models/years I should avoid?
  21. I've run searches on about 5 different wheel/tire site and I've seen offset ranges from 0 all the way to +40. This sounds strange since most FWD vehicles are almost exclusively positive offsets. Prefer a wheel with a lip/dish on the front but dont want them protruding past the fender line. Right out to the edge is fine for the fat tire look. I also noticed most of the wheel designs lean toward the off-road style but would definitely want more of the road carver look, say something akin to a BMW X5 M-pkg. An attractive wheel/tire pkg is a must for me, not only for better handling (which any tall-esque vehicle can use) and for the personalized looks. IMO the proper wheel/tire combo makes or breaks the look of a car. Wide open for suggestions and input!
  22. Last winter we took a vacation to Las Vegas for my wife's 50th birthday. We chose to rent a car and drive out to Grand Canyon along with other points around Arizona. I chose a SUV in the event we experienced foul weather (nothing terrible thank goodness) and the vehicle they gave us was a Journey SXT. I completely love my 2011 Chrysler 200 convertible, especially the 3.6 Pentastar engine and 6spd Auto Stick. The rental Journey was equipped with the same powertrain and the next four days reeled me in on the benefits of this versatile machine. Now that we're considering replacing my wife's SUV I'm far more curious, so I have some questions. Do I post them here or in each appropriate forum? Mostly they concern trim options, reliability, and accessories. Looking forward to sharing and learning more, so thanks in advance!
