  1. Ya, sorry, I didn't realize that they had mounted the oil filter housing and cooler in the engine valley, what a dumb location.... And I'm guessing the fluid we did see was probably from that. It is just weird that the top of the engine really didn't look wet, but it is something we could of missed as well.
  2. Yup am sure this one is a tranny fluid leak. In the Journey the engine filter housing is on the passenger side and the transmission is on the drivers side. But when we were under the vehicle, I did notice quit a bit of oil on the AC compressor so am guessing that it will need to be fixed as well. Looking at Rock auto, Doorman has an all aluminum housing/oil cooler for CAD $335 because of course they don't have any gaskets in stock.
  3. Hello everyone! Me and my dad (Ford mechanic) had my Journey at his shop today so that I could change my spark plugs. It actually wasn't that bad a job and was surprised to see that they had been replaced previously. The ground straps were showing wear on one side, but otherwise looked good. Anyways, we lifted the vehicle in the air and found that I have a transmission leak. It is not leaking from the top, it is basically right in the middle between the engine and the transmission. I have attached some pictures. He is a Ford mechanic so doesn't have any experience with this vehicle. Does anyone have any idea of what could be leaking? It is a 2017 Dodge Journey GT, 3.6L, 6spd Auto, AWD, 150000 KM's,
  4. See if this works.... VIDEO Have had my Journey for 3 years, has roughly 149,000 km's on it. It only makes the sound, like something is rolling in the fender or something when I brake hard going forward. I don't get any weird sounds when going over bumps or turning or anything.
  5. Hello everyone, how's it going!? I recently started a new job and I have a train grade crossing that I have to go over everyday. A couple weeks ago I started getting this sound (see attachment) coming from my passenger side when I hard brake. I get no sound going the tracks, cornering, light braking or anything else. Any ideas of what could be causing this sound? Now, we do have fields on one side of us and I have seen a couple of mice, but have had mice at other jobs with no issue. I even pulled the cabin filter and it was clean. I have checked the bolts on the rim and they are tight and nothing looks broken. IMG_4207.mov
  6. For some reason I didn't receive an email about your reply. Thank you for the insight into this. I guess I'm just used to previous vehicles going into overdrive when I'm over 60 KM/H, no matter how short my trip is. One thing I do like about the Journey, is it gets heat out the vents quite fast, even at -30c.
  7. Good day everyone. So after owning and driving my 2017 Dodge Journey GT AWD for the past 8 months, I have noticed one thing about how the transmission shifts or I guess doesn't shift. In any other automatic vehicle I have driven, going 80KM/H+ and it will be in overdrive. My trip to/from work is a total of 11.6 KM, with most of the driving around 60 KM/H, with a stretch of highway that is 80 KM/H. During my drive, I spend most of my time in 5th gear, which, from doing some searching, means I am in direct 1:1 ratio. The only way I can get the transmission to go into 6th gear (overdrive) is by manual putting it into that gear or by going 90KM/H. Vehicle currently has a little under 121,000 KM's on it and I got it with just under 118,000 KM's. I use 87 Octane (regular) when fueling up and I get between 13-16.5 US MPG To me, this just doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't it want to be in overdrive at like 60-80 KM/H, for better fuel economy and lower RPM's. I've driven 4spd, 5spd, 8spd, 10spd automatic's and usually around 80 KM/H or less and the transmission will be in overdrive. Heck my 2013 Challenger with the 3.6L and 5spd auto got better fuel economy than this thing does. Funny thing, our work got a new F-550 with the diesel and 10spd and it is in 10th gear by around 60KM/H. One of our tandem axle flatdecks has an Allison 6spd auto and it is in 6th gear at around 60 KM/H as well. Is there anything the dealership can do to fix this issue, and to me, this is an issue. Can they reprogram it or something?
  8. It has 117,596 KM's (73,070 miles) and it says 2098 engine hours. So because of the mileage and hours I also have plans to replace the PCV valve and all 4 O2 sensors. I want this vehicle to last me a long time. My dad is a mechanic for Ford so I am able to get him to help me with a bunch of stuff as he has most of the tools and a hoist at his shop. I am also going to change the rear diff fluid and the power transfer unit fluid as well. All of this within the next few months when we have time. Most of my driving is to work and back which is only about 6KM (3.7 miles) one way. I do park in a heated parkade during the winter months.
  9. Ya, I really like this colour scheme, it is unique. And same here, the blue sold me on it when I walked out to the lot to see it. I already have stuff on order with more stuff in my plans. Going to be changing the spark plugs, transmission filter and fluid (just what is lost from dropping the pan), cabin air filter, and front/rear brake pads in the next couple of weeks Thanks!
  10. 2017 Journey R/T (GT) AWD with Jazz Blue Pearl exterior and black with tan seats on the interior.
  11. Yup, has the 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine and 6 speed auto tranny. I actually had the 3.6L in a 2013 Challenger and I liked it, so hopefully this one does good too!
  12. Hello everyone, new to the forum. Just bought a 2017 Dodge Journey GT AWD, going to be picking it up Monday after work. It is Jazz Blue Pearl exterior and Black/Tan interior. According to the window sticker that I was able to get online, the only extra option it had is the CPP 28X. List price was CA$38,840. I paid $14,500 for it. Has 117,000 KM's on it, 1 owner. Has quite new winter tires on it, so I'm set for winter! Once I get the vehicle, will drive it for a week or two, then I'll start doing a major service to it. I want to drop the tranny pan and replace the filter and the fluid that comes out with the pan drop, replace the belt, check and replace spark plugs, replace all 4 O2 sensors as well as the PCV valve, replace the diff fluid and the transfer case fluid. I also need to take and install a hitch and wire connector as I bought this to pull a small travel trailer. Actually have to get a smaller trailer as my 1978 Travelaire Rustler is a bit too heavy, weighing 2800 pounds dry. Sucks too because I had gone in looking at a truck, but couldn't afford it because of how they could do financing, so they suggested this vehicle after I told them the weight of the trailer and they said, yup you shouldn't have a problem towing it with this. This vehicle is replacing my 1997 Ford Taurus with 307,000 KM's on it.
