Perfect time of the year to buy winter tires!

Was surfing the local online shopping site Kijiji and on a nice hot August day found a hardly used set of 17in. Bridgestone Blizzak tires I was looking for to fit the used alloy wheels I got at a recycler. Since they were only a few blocks away I took a look, and yup, as stated in the ad, really only had 2500 Km on them. (1500 miles for the Yankee's) Owner moved to Texas. Got for less than half price. Such a deal! Should have seen the look I got at the dealer when I dropped them off to get mounted and balanced. Ok, I'm ready for you Mr. Polar Vortex!

I bought my SXT in December, so there wasn't much selection in winter tires... I had to slip and slide my way through Winter 2013 - 2014.

I'm going to start looking around the Toronto area for a new set of Winter wheels (rubber and steel rims) soon... I've always liked Sailun Ice Blazer, I had them on my front wheel drive Impala and they were pretty awesome!

Good evening all,

Hope everyone had a good summer, and managed to go on road trips with their DJs? Also currently looking at Winter tires at the moment, but if anyone here in Ontario has come across any good deals, please let me know. My Canadian value pkg tire size is 225/65/17

What size tire can I go with in order to raise the height for clearance during Winter?

Thanks in advance

I was going to go with an expensive all weather tire as my Khumos

are over 3 yrs old but then decided that my typical winter driving

does not command 2 sets of tires/rims hanging around.

I have not owned a set of snow tires since 1968 and since I am retired

if it's that bad out I just stay home.

I just bought a set of 225/65/17 Michelin Defenders installed all in for

$725.00 with free rotation every 10000 kms at Green & Ross that should

last 3 - 4 yrs.

The Khumos are 1/10 above the wear bars.
