Jstmahoney
Anyone have a bug deflector? They are supposed to redirect the air flow up and over the windshield. I've only put 2100 miles on my journey so far and it seems to be a bug and rock magnet -.-. I have a deflector on my ram, I was just wondering if anyone has installed one and had any luck with less bugs or rocks.
jkeaton
I have one. Seems to work ok.
cskmom
OP...I had one installed by the dealer before pickup, but I only just got the car last month with 2600kms on the clock thus far
rolly
I have one and it seems to work. We took a 13,500 kms (8400 miles) trip through the U.S. and Canada last year and suffered little bug damage. That was why I bought it in the first place. I also had the paint treated with opti-coat when I first got the Journey, so that also might have helped.
Windancer
Anyone have a bug deflector? I have had one since day one and IMO it is very worthwhile, have had them on every vehicle in the past 25 years. Terry jkeaton
jkeaton
I have had one since day one and IMO it is very worthwhile, have had them on every vehicle in the past 25 years. Terry Haha...me too. Usually the first thing I buy. Bug deflector, vent shades and good floor mats.
Windancer
Haha...me too. Usually the first thing I buy. Bug deflector, A Bug Deflector seems to work on both bugs and protects my hood somewhat from rocks on the many gravel roads I travel on. Just my opinion though........ Thanks everyone looks like I'll be getting one, just need to figure out what brand I want. Lol jkeaton reminds me when I first bought the journey my wife flipped out when she found out I spend nearly $300 on weather tech custom mats. Slohnd
Do they use existing holes or must you drill new holes? What brand di you all go with? Thanks Edited November 17, 2014 by Slohnd
dhh3
In the past, every bug deflector that I have used has caused a significant drop in mpgs. Is this the case for the DJ? I installed Weathertech in channel vent shades on my Nitro, and the noise was horrible. Is this so on the DJ?
Lobitz68
Lately I have been noticing some VERY low profile deflectors on vehicles in my area... not sure who is the manufacturer as I tend to see them on the freeway, but the writing looks like it may be lund... I HATE bug deflectors, but these ones are hardly noticeable, dhh3
jeefunk
Do they use existing holes or must you drill new holes? What brand di you all go with? Thanks Mine just went on with adhesives. I put the bug deflector & Ventshade window visors on mine without any significant change to mileage or noise. They are a must on any vehicle for me, even if it is for anything other than just for looks. It's amazing how much different our DJ looks after getting those two things & the windows tinted. If I can remember to look I'll get back with you on the brand. dhh3

jeefunk
Which brand of Hood deflector did you go with? Thanks The deflector on both of my vehicles is AVS. The one on my truck mounted in 3 spots with existing locations to screw into. The one on the Journey is adhesives only. I'm please with both of them. jkeaton
AVS here too. I only wish I had bought the in channel vent visors. The stick on ones look, well, stuck on.
Slohnd
I looked here in town ans they are telling me that the AVS are to be drilled in??? Do you have a part number for the ones you installed??
Journey_SeXT
Weathertech bug deflectors any good? This one here requires no drilling. http://www.weathertech.ca/dodge/2012/journey/stone-and-bug-deflector/ I don't like the idea of drilling and the reason why I've never installed the the front mud guards I purchased way back...the bug deflector I installed on my Hyundai was with adhesive tape and works great....purchased it through the dealer and installed it myself. dhh3
After reading this post, I may go with the Weathertech in-channel wind deflectors, but definitely no hood big deflector.

I have the Weathertech in-channel wind deflectors for my front windows and haven't had a problem with noise. I don't know if having the ones for the back windows would make a difference though. Do you have a part number for the ones you installed?? From what I remember my AVS came with screws and the 3M automotive grade double sided tape. The Installation instructions were very vague. So i just used the tape. It was solid so I just used the tape
