So if the alternator is randomly dropping Voltage that will cause your error. Is the alternator clean or covered in oil? Oil on an alternator can cause them to burn out Buy a cheap volt meter you can plug into cigarette lighter. And while driving around see if voltage is solid or fluctuate allot. At idle should be around 13.5 to 14 v. Driving should stay closer to 14 and not change too much
skulnick04
Voltage never drops. I have a cig lighter voltage display. Locosiete
Locosiete
Something like this can help https://a.co/d/fqmCoI9
Locosiete
Well in that case you may possibly havr a bad connection on the battery sensor wiring. Any resistance in the wire can give false readings your voltage is dropping 2late4u

Dean H
What engine do you have? The plastic connector on the alternator is this below. Courtesy Rock Auto Slide back the locking tab back.
skulnick04
3.6l and yes I watched a video on the plug. I think I'll have to spray it out. The lock tab is stuck. Went for a 20mile drive and the message did not come back yet. I'll keep everyone posted in the coming week. Locosiete
Dean H
Something to be aware of- On the 3.6, there is the 12v battery feed to the starter from the tipm stud. Down on the the starter stud connection a cable splits off that connector. This is the battery feed to the alternator. In my picture the starter cable is the top red one covered in foil. The dirty orange one below it goes to a fusible link then to the alternator. I eliminated this mess when I upgraded to 2 gauge cables. I have 2 runs of 1/0 power wire from alternator. Been a few years since I did it and can't remember if I replaced or not Edited Saturday at 07:20 PM by Locosiete
skulnick04
I'll be sure to check those out when replacing the battery cables. Thank you Dean Dean H
