  1. I added remote start to my 2010 Journey just yesterday (April 4th 2014) using the factory key fob. All I do is press the lock button 3 times and it starts and flashes the lights. The parts that were used are bellow in the link. I had it installed by a professional cause there are things that need to be done other than just hooking up wires. He had to Flash my key fob and you need software for your computer to do this. The software might be available for anyone but I just wanted it done right. He also tapped into my lights to make them flash when starting and he put a kill switch on the hood so that if the hood is open then the remote start wont work. Thats a safety precaution.

You can also add the Smart Start feature to it so you can use a smart phone. It can be done using Bluetooth so you dont have to pay a yearly fee to go through the cellular network. Ill be adding this in the near future.

  2. They are nice, but dayum I have a hard time parting with $100 for a piece of plastic with some 3m tape on it. Do you have a pic of what you actually had to remove to install the cover? I know you have a pic of the clips, but where were they removed from? You have to remove the entire bumper cover?

If you look at the RPG you will see holes in the area that folds up, that area is the area that is behind the lift gate. If you look on your Journey in that same area you will see 4 or 5 clips that hold the top part of your bumper onto the car. Those are the clips that need to come off. When you remove them your bumper will not fall off it will just loosen the top part of your bumper. You will need to line up the RPG with the holes and that will center it right where it needs to be. Then reinsert the clips and your done.

Since October when I installed mine it still looks brand new. No fading or scratching at all. Im still very happy with it. Its worth the money cause my bumper hasn't gotten scratched up.

  3. Who would want to meet up and have a Journey Show Day and BBQ? We could all pitch in for food or Bring your own. If we plan it right we can make it a mini carnival with Bounce Houses for the kids and something for the wives. I don't know what cause I'm not a girl and I don't know what they would want to do. Sporting events like Base Ball, Volley Ball, Horse Shoe, ect..... Would be fun too. We could also plan for a Journey we could all take in our Journeys. If your interested let us know what State in the US your nominating and give us some ideas of things we could do. There isnt any set date this is just a discussion to see how many people would want to go. :hyper::shift::happy feet:

I nominate Colorado cause I live in Colorado or in Las Vegas Nevada during the SEMA Car show in early November.

  4. I say we meet in Detroit Michigan. Timing and scheduling is key for everyone certainly. Anyone on this forum from Michigan and willing to set it up? Sounds fun to me. Warm season preferred. Maybe a DJ tailgate at a Tigers game? Beer n ribs anyone?

    Peace.

I say we do it in Colorado!!.....Any where we do it is gonna be far for everyone except the person that lives in that state. Doing it during the big SEMA Car show in Las Vegas would be good too!!

  5. Only on the driver's side. On the passenger side, it's just a vent. If you have the "premium" (and I use the term loosely) audio system you will have a shitty DVC 8" sub in the panel on the driver's side. It has no gain control, and is way underpowered (the exact same problem exists on the vans, too, though the system sounds much better in the vans).

If you don't have the premium system, I don't think the wiring is even there to add anything.

Personally, I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can start ripping this thing apart. I don't know what the policy is here on this forum for external links, but assuming this post doesn't get deleted, here's what I did to my Charger SRT8 LAST YEAR on Easter weekend. Time is coming close to making this a yearly event for me. Ha. ;)

I build everything from scratch, and do all my own customizations. Did I mention I'm working on getting us an actual aftermarket lift kit? :) Talking with the R&D department of a lift kit company this week. I'm hoping they'll let me donate my DJ for it so I'll be the guinea pig.

I'll post pics of clip/screw locations once I start pulling everything. I try to take lots of pics along the way, in hopes it will help other modders save tim

You did a nice detailed job on your Charger's audio system. Im getting ready to do mine in my Journey next weekend. Its gonna be 3 way components up front and 1 Rcokford Fosgate P3 10. Its gonna be powered by 2 amps.

  6. +1

I think this is a great idea, actually. Other forums I've been on (especially the Z forums, which there doesn't appear to be one for the Journey) often have group meets...especially the Chargers and Challengers. I'd be willing to drive anywhere within a 1,000 miles or so of here (ie: pretty much anywhere in New England/Maritime area) for a Journey group meet/weekend.

I would love to also but it depends on where its at. From what ive seen here most of the people are in Canada.

  7. Another reason why iPhone is ****

I always found Apple users pretentious and the are the same people that drink Starbucks. I'll never understand why people will pay more for an item that does less that the competitor? Get an Android phone and you won't have that problem

We pay more for Apple products so we dont have to purchase new ones every year or 2.... meaning they last and work when we need them to. And on top of that Apple rarely gets viruses. There are many other products on the market that dont work with Android but work just fine with Apple. This issue/conversation is a never ending battle. Apple and Android has there place in this world.

The issue that Normagal is having isnt with Apple its with the radio in her Journey. She did say that her iPhone worked with her Durango.

  8. When you say side panel are you referring to the door panel? If so it an easy process...just a few screws and clips and it comes of easy. But I guess it depends on how handy you are.

Subwoofers require an amplifier. If your trying to add a sub without adding an amp it wont work. The OEM amp might have an output for a sub. You will need to check into that. It your trying to tap into the rear speaker wires to add a sub the amp wont be able to handle the ohm load drop and you will probably harm the amp. There are ways to use the OEM radio even with aftermarket amps. I would recommend going to your local Car Audio store and ask them how it can be done. This is one reason why I dont like the newer Journeys. All the electronics in the vehicle are operated through the OEM radio and adding an aftermarket system is more difficult for a DIY person. Everything else especially the 3.6 Pentastar motor is far better on the newer Journeys though.

  9. These guys do great work, but I can't get myself to pay someone what they charge for such an easy process. Looking forward to the pics for sure... Did you just get them painted or did you get other mods done to them too?

The process is easy if you watch a video of it on you tube however 2 things might become an issue. 1.The paint may not stick to the chrome clad so you would need to make sure the paint process is done correctly. 2.Putting the lights back together is easy but making sure they are completely sealed may be difficult for some people. This is why I wanted to have it done by a professional.

No im not having them do anything else to my lights. Ive already done an HID conversion myself. I thought about having Halo's or projection done also but that is way to pricy for me.

  10. Ive done lots of research on this and I haven't found anyone selling them other than occasionally at a salvage yard or private seller on ebay. I did find a place online www.blackflamecustoms.com Ive talked to them and they are very knowledgeable in this process. My lights are at their shop right now getting done. Ill post some pictures when I get them back.

  11. What I am actually considering is a black one-piece billet grill. I believe that I would keep the same shell and just cut out the cross bars for this type of setup. The grille would then install inside that shell.... I'm still a little leery on pulling the trigger on this one though... Would be tough to get my money back on if it is the incorrect shape.

If you get another grill from another year it will fit. Even the 2014 grill is the same as the 2009 as far as the fit.

  12. Welcome, Ive had my 2010 Journey since June of 2013 and I haven't stopped doing Mods to it. Its so addicting. I did the Hypertech Computer Tuner and it was well worth it. Some appearance mods and I'm gonna do my audio system here soon. Ive already purchased some equipment....its sitting around waiting to be installed. I'm also gonna bite the bullet and get some new wheels even though I said I wasnt gonna do it this time around. My front lights are in the shop getting blacked out right now. Theres more to come I'm sure. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.

  13. Are all of the mounting points the same? Good news for sure, thanks!

Yes they are all the same. Its been a while since I did it but I do remember that I had to cut off a small plastic piece on the newer grill. The piece was in the back and wasnt anything cosmetic. It didn't change the integrity of anything. It took me about 20 min to do the swap out.

  14. I have a 2010 Journey and I put a 2012 Grill on mine and it fit perfectly. I also changed the lower grill and fog light inserts to match the honeycomb pattern. The picture I have on my profile shows the 2012 Grill but not the lower grill and fog light inserts cause I recently did those. My front lights are in the shop now getting done to look like the Black Top. When I get it back Ill post some pictures.

  15. When I got my Journey, at that time I was only aware of Weather Techs and Husky Liners. Both of these options are pretty superior and would recommend it, however, for the price, there are cheaper alternatives for anyone north of the border(Canadians):

-If near or in Toronto, there's a company, findway.com, that I found while researching for weatherproof mats for my wife's CRV. At first I was skeptical due to the pricing, under $100, but they have been tested and I can confirm they work as well as the weathertechs. I took a look for Dodge Journeys, and they do carry them for $80!!! The nice thing about this place, I was able to pick it up from the warehouse and test fit them, the guy guaranteed a refund if I didn't want to keep them. Here's the image of how they look:

    W-B-4-19030B-600x387.jpg

-For those not so near or would rather try a different company, Costco has a vendor called 3D MAXpiderMat - http://www.costco.ca/.product.10367254.html Currently 20% off

-If you are still keen on weathertechs or husky liners, suggest calling/going to a tuner shop or even a tint place, they are usually vendors of either brand and run specials now and then.

For my weathertechs, I personally purchased them in the states and just picked them up and installed them when we went cross-border shopping. I believe I saved over $100 than buying from a Canadian vendor.

    Hope this helps!

I looked up the Matts that you mentioned above from Costco and they are the same ones that you can get from Aries

    http://www.ariesauto...s_FrontRear.htm

They are fantastic I have them in my Journey. However you cant buy them direct from Aries. You need to go through an online seller like autoanything.com or another reseller.

  16. I saw those on Autoanything.com and was considering buying them. What are your impressions of them? Will the hold up? is the fit good (i.e., there are no gaps around the outside that will let stuff get by)? Maybe some installed pics would be helpful if you don't mind...

They are great. I would definitely buy them again for a future car. No gaps, yes they have held up, excellent fit. I wont be able to get pics of them right away. If you want to get the 3rd row also.....Auto anything will say they arent available. Tell your sales guy to check with the manufacture. They do make the 3rd row cause I have it.
