  1. So what made you trade in for the Acadia? We looked at one when we were DJ shopping, but you just couldn't get that many options in the GMC/Chevy for the same price as the DJ. Plus the gas mileage is worse in the Acadia.

I know that my answer here isn't going to be a popular one but I was never fully happy with my Journey. When I purchased it I was in a hurry and I didn't do my research on them. I purchased it in June of 2013 and at that time I didn't even know that the newer ones had a much better motor and the interior was MUCH BETTER than the 2010. After a while I didn't like the way it shifted and it didn't have enough power for me. Also I have 2 teenaged kids and one 12 year old so I found that its a little tight for us. Im not saying that its a bad vehicle by any means but its just not for me. I LOVE the way they look though. I hope no ones takes this as me bashing on Journeys cause thats not what I'm trying to do at all. Who knows maybe in 2018 after the turbo model has been out for a couple years and one of my kids have gone on their own, I might get a new one but for now I have to stick with my new Acadia.

  2. Welcome to the forum. I've done some of the mods that your wanting to do and I love the way it came out. I did a Magnaflow exhaust with K&N filter and it sounds great. It got a little louder over time.

  3. Hi, you can call me Dee!

I figured I stop here first since I'm not a full Journey owner yet. But I hope to be. I test drove a new 2013 SXT today, AWD, 6 cylinders, only 6 miles on the truck, and I loved the truck, white pearl, it's me for sure. The only thing I noticed is what had been brought up before in earlier years, but not really settled is the bounce in the ride. It was like I felt everything on the road. I would have been looking out my window right now at the Journey, if it hadn't been for that. I'm almost ready to settle, but I'm not sure.

I currently drive an Envoy XUV 2004. Is it me or the truck, anyone else feeling it? Let me know before someone steals the deal ;), thanks!

Hello Dee, I think your feeling the bounce more cause your used to the smooth ride of an Envoy which is a bigger and heavier vehicle, however I do know what you mean by the bounce. I feel it at slower speeds especially on small streets with dips in the road but you'll get used to it.

  4. So Before I went and shot myself in the foot I took a picture and quickly photo shopped the tape out of the picture.

Here is what it looks like now......

And here is what it would look like if I remove the tape....

I don't really think this works on this vehicle. After comparing it to the durango I think the reason it DOESN'T work is because of the triangular base on the rear door, not really sure.

I guess I am going to leave the tape on for now, not really sure what I will do once the tape begins to fade/fail.

The tape your referring to is just vinyl, the same vinyl that vehicles with advertisement have except its thicker. If you go to most any places that do vehicle wraps I'm sure they have it. Don't worry about the long term cause its easy to replace.

  5. you have to remove the grill, the tabs in the wheel well and two screws on each side that hold the bumper in place. after that you can pull the bumper forward a little and get pretty good access. there are 2 tabs where the wheel junts out on the bumper that you need to release as well.

That's exactly how I did mine.

  6. I just had the exact same thing happen to my 2010. I took it into the dealer and they found that it was the heater hose assembly that was bad. Sucks cause it wasn't covered under warranty and it cost me $550 but if you take it to a nondealer mechanic it might be cheaper for you. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

  7. I have a 2009 Dodge Journey, yesterday I closed the rear gate on it and the licenses plate fell off. In looking at it I noticed the holes weren’t the standard square plate holder inserts, instead it appears the previous owner may have just filled them in with some of body putty and stuck a screw in them. I’ve attached a picture and am wondering if there are any ideas on how to fix this and get my plate back on. Thanks,

Mine is just like yours. If you cant find the screws that fit at your local auto parts store im sure Home Depo has them.

  8. So I've been searching and searching around for info and videos of a nice sounding exhaust for the 3.6l all the ones I've herd are ridiculous in the loud spectrum. Just want a nice rumble cause its only a v6 not a v8. So thinking replacing stock mufflers with magnaflow mufflers and possible resonator delete? Opinions!!!!!???

I did a magnaflow exhaust system on my Journey and it sounds great. I also didnt want to go loud cause its a V6 and not a V8. I didnt want it to sound like I was trying to make it sound like a V8. I also had them put on Black Chrome tips and im very satisfied with the way it came out.

  9. I wish my R/T had come with them...in '13, the R/T had their own "special" wheels; the same ones that look, now, like something off a Yugo on mine... I'll probably get a set from my dealer next spring to replace the POS wheels that I've got.

You can probably find a good used set on Craigs List for much less than what the dealer will charge you. I see them all the time in my local Craigs List. Heres a set right now on my Craigs List.

  10. My 2010 DJ SXT sometimes wont start. I changed the batteries in both of my key fobs and changed the battery in my Journey. This happens with 2 different key fobs. Most of the time it starts right up but every now and then I put the fob in the hole and turn it and get just a clicking sound. The radio and everything inside turns on. I don't get a message fob not recognized. Has anyone else had this problem? Oh and when this happens I also try to start it using the remote start and most of the time it works but sometimes it doesn't.

  11. I had the same problem with mine. My family and I went on vacation and the engine light came on just as we were driving into a big city so I went directly to a Dodge dealership and a tech was their just as I was pulling in and he heard it and said to me that my lifters were bad. He saw that we were on a road trip and he told the service manager about it and they got me in immediately and I was back on the road in 2 hours. I was shocked at how quickly the took care of me.
