  1. I purchased a used 2015 dodge journey sxt on Saturday and Sunday I went to the car to go for a drive, and I got the dreaded "key fob not detected" message in gauge cluster and engine would start when i push the button, had to start engine wirth emergency proceedures, and doors would not lock with fob, I changed battery in the fob, still nothing. You don't know how pissed I was after shelling out the money for the car and have not work, I had to wait till Monday to take back to dealer, They checked it out said it was bad key fob and replaced it, Now everything working fine.

Next time it happens, give a good slap to the steering wheel on the top of the airbag. Someone told me it is an occasional bad connection in the clockspring. Don't know if true or not. It always works for me, although it rarely happens.

  2. I'm retired now and (as the photo above shows) I'm investing heavily in the hearing aid industry. I see so many cars in town (another reason I moved to the boonies) that you can actually watch the sheet metal deflecting outwards due to the air the speakers are moving...not to mention you can hear / feel them a block away. None of these kids will be able to hear anything by the time they are in their 30's... Hearing aid companies; the money makers of the future :hyper: Keep 'em loud, I need to make enough money to buy that Prevost I've got my eyes on :yup:

You forget the lazer tattoo removal companies! They'll be big money makers too.

  3. Let me try to explain this.

The dealer is right. Your "Crew" is actually a Journey SXT with the "Crew" package. 28L This included the deletion of the SXT rear hatch badge and replaceD with the Crew badge. As stated on your window sticker, it was a 2 grand option and included things like heated seats, power seats and so on.... In 2014 the "Crew" name was changed to "Limited" and it was set up the same way. The price went up to about 2.3 grand. On my window sticker it calls the Journey a Limited but it also lists it as a Dodge Journey SXT. with the 28L option package. I did not see that on your sticker but not sure if there is a variation on the French VS English stickers. Even on my Manitoba Vehicle registration papers my Limited is listed as a Journey SXT. Again, you got the Crew/Limited package on top of the SXT model.

The Limited model was discontinued in the US in 2015 (I think) but still exists in Canada even on the 16 model. They market it on the website as a model when in reality it is an add on to the Sxt model.

    Confusing, isn't it.

  4. Found this today.

    CTV Winnipeg
    Published Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Transport Canada has identified safety issues with four Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada models.

Transport Canada conducted an investigation after receiving over 100 consumer complaints involving a failure of a power steering return hose.

It found that the loss of power steering assist, along with the potential for a vehicle fire, was a serious safety issue. Transport Canada notified the manufacturer.

It found power steering problems with Dodge Journey, Chrysler 200, Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger models.

    The vehicle models affected include:

    • 2009-2016 Dodge Journey;
    • 2011-2013 Chrysler 200;
    • 2007-2010 Chrysler Sebring; and • 2007-2013 Dodge Avenger.

"Canadians deserve to know that the cars they rely on to get to work and transport their families are safe. I reserve the option of forcing a recall if corrective measures are not applied in a satisfactory manner,” Marc Garneau, the minister of transport said in a statement. “Manufactures should know that we have high standards for Canadian vehicles, and we expect them to live up to these standards at all times."

A final notice of the safety defect will be issued to owners of the vehicles after the minister makes a final determination and reviews feedback from Canadians with affected models.

Transport Canada said it will continue to monitor the issue closely and will provide details as they become available.

  5. Hey strangers. Been a while since I posted!

Got some ideas, looking for past experience of this gang

1 Anyone have one of the Mopar Sunroof wind deflectors? They were made for the 09/10 models and sold by dealers so are a perfect fit (roof contour). Tried to order one locally but none in any warehouse. Did find one on Ebay located in Los Angeles. Since there is no change from the old models am thinking of ordering. Before I do, one question. I believe the Mopar model attaches with some sort of screw mechanics and not sticky tape. Is this true? Personally not interested in any tape method as our Prairie winter makes tape brittle and come apart over time.

2 Thinking for the Mopar front hood (bonnet for the Brits) wind/bug deflector but really don't like the common smoke coloured ones. With a little special acid etch plastic primer and locally made colour matched spray bomb, anyone had good results from possibly painting one of these? Ya, it's a personal preference.

    Answers? Opinions? Flames?

Been quiet up here . We had a tease of spring weeks ago and like other parts of the continent, it's been crappy. Winter hockey season over. Not quite nice enough for Mountainbiking. (I'm a nice weather suck) Journey all waxed and ready for nice weather forecast for later in the week. I was so bored I even waxed the door jambs! The joys of a garage heater.

  6. You may want to take the plank out of your own eye before slamming Americans as crazy. I've read plenty of stories from Canadian media that were equally nuts (like the guy who defended his property that was under literal attack and is now facing jail time). Just something to think about lest you think your government is perfect.

Oh heck, we have lots of strange nuts too! But, the thought of guns at a huge convention just tickles my funny bone. The petition is definitely unique.

While we do love you like a brother, there are times you are a bit baffling and strange. This would make for exciting live TV, And I am sure there are many who approve, (Just read the comments section at the end of the story) While it might be a bit gory. Normally I'm not a fan of your never ending political process as ours lasts about 45 days from start to finish, even I would tune in to watch with a 3 day supply of popcorn! To quote one of your prominent politicians, Lindsay Graham, "my party is batshi* crazy" I suspect the rest of the saner parts of this planet just might agree.

  8. We have had an incredible spring up here on the Canadian Prairie. Unusually warm and the snow is gone! Just yesterday it hit 15c (over 60f for those south of the 49th) and after a 2 hour bike ride in shorts, I came home an washed the journey, dried it and put into the garage. Today, a miserable day with cold steady rain. Turned on the heater in the garage, got out the Meguire's and now have a nicely waxed super shiny car! Glad I don't have to go out today.

  9. Congrats! Don't rush to find another job. If you don't need the extra cash, enjoy the summer and see if you have enough interests to keep you busy. I had a little part time job for a while, but gave it up cause it interfered with hockey on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and swimming on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I cut back in those activities as soon as mountain biking season starts. Sheesh, barely enough time to wash the Journey! I now consider work just another 4 letter word that ends with a K. :)

  10. Put on a hat!

That reminds me of a story.

Had a not too bright friend. Lived on one of the lakes in this neighbourhood. Loved the plentiful geese making their home on the lake. So he went to a farm and bought a bag of wheat to feed them. Proceeded to spread the grain around his back yard, close to the water. The yard had a considerable slope down to the water. Then Geese everywhere! Free easy food. Yes, they love wheat! His little girl was thrilled and watched them for hours. The next day early in the morning, with dew on the grass, he went out to see if there was any wheat left on the lawn. Didn't notice the mess. It was so thick and slippery he slid on his butt down the lawn and into the lake. Goose crap covered in dew is very slippery.

That was the last time he ever fed them.

  11. Ok Mother Nature. Enough. I want, no, I need spring! I want to wash the car and have it stay clean for more than 100 yards. I want to wax it too. So hurry up! Get here. I await standing in the driveway and hearing the first flock of Canada Geese overhead. That is such a sweet sound as they announce it's spring.

  12. Bought it last week so I have been using it for a week now, and I am really happy with this car, riding right now with 17 inch winter tires, with the car I got 19 inch summer tires as well, so I am really curious as how these will change the cars appearance (they are in silver)

My only complain if I can call it that way, is am having a really hard time to adapt to the parking situations, I am so scared of hitting something when I am parking, but I think and hope that's is just a matter of time before I get use to it, ( now this is the front I am talking about, the back is just fine)

Maybe I should go for the front sensors?

    And one more thing,

my oh my it's so gorgeous.

I just need to add a V6 emblem so I don't get comfused with al the shabby Fiat diesel freemonts we have here in Sweden, haha

  13. Hi all,

Just had my 24,000km (11,900 miles) Service on my 2014 Dodge Journey. The brake pads front and rear still have 90% left on them.

As the mechanic said "That's Bugger all " (I hope I have not offend anyone with the word "Bugger" if you have ever been to Australia its almost as popular as G'day mate :)

    Gary

    Or "no worries" :)

Done Melbourne, Sydney, South Vic and next. Port Douglas!

    What your dealer will do...

FCA will repair your vehicle free of charge. To do this, your dealer will check the radio navigation functionality. If the navigation is not functional, the radio may require replacement. If a replacement radio needs to be ordered, the dealer will need to schedule a return visit once the replacement radio arrives. The work will take about 1⁄2 hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on service schedules.

    What you should do...

Simply contact your Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or RAM dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Please bring this letter with you to your dealer.

  15. Back in the Great White North. Happy to see we are sharing some lovely winter temps with the eastern folks! Left one of those intelligent trickle chargers on the Journey and it started right away after sitting a month. First hockey game today, and no they didn't need to call the paramedics to revive me! Things are good.

  16. Last day. Fly back tonight. Back to reality.

    More Hawaii notes:

There is certainly a very different attitude to life VS the North American continent attitude. Hawaiian time does exist. Be patient folks. Chill.

Their local TV news is a throwback to local TV from the early 80's on the continent. It exists, with actual media personalities. I suspect it is because the "corporate trend" in the media has just not made it across the Pacific, plus the isolation of the islands.

There definitely are two cultures here. I'll call one, "the tourist" and the other, "the local". They charge for everything and the tourist pays a premium.
Learn how to pronounce Hawaiian names/terms and you learn a lot, and hide that you are a tourist. It isn't too hard to find out where the locals shop to avoid the tourist prices.
Example. Pay $7.50 for a gallon of milk at the tourist grocery store. Or pay under 4 bucks where the locals shop. It just might take a bit longer bus ride.

Next time I hear people bitch about the roads at home, I'm going to swack them in the head. In some cases they ain't no better here and in many cases worse! And there is no freeze/thaw cycle. A lot of Hawaii's roads are very old, constructed to old standards, too small and narrow, and there is no where to widen and improve. Land is very expensive! The H1 freeway is a joke in old sections and daily bumper to bumper traffic is the norm. Amazingly courteous and patient drivers.

They are constructing an elevated L.R.T. It is way over budget and costing BILLIONS. Won't be done for a few years. Sales taxes to pay for it extended into the late 20's

There are 3 languages here. English, Hawaiian and Japanese. Speak all 3 and you can go far.

Honolulu airport is real old. A redo underway, but seems to happen on Hawaii time. Lie on the beach and watch the big jets land and takeoff, one after another. Busy.

Dandelions don't grow well here. I've seen one.

We have windchill warnings. Hawaii has surf height warnings.

Flying doesn't bother me. Sitting still for 5 or 6 hours to Vancouver does.

You can own a black car here. Never gets dusty! But, expect to see the paint burned off the roof on a 3 year old car. Because it reflects sunlight, white is the most popular
    colour here by far.

The cops ride bicycles on the sidewalks. Not supposed to.

Honolulu Zoo is worth every penny. The Aquarium isn't.

Good luck finding a favourite TV show on a cable channel. The 4 or 5 hr time difference means it's on in the late afternoon. Live sports gets weird too. Networks are delayed.

Would I live here? Hell yes. But it would take a lottery win to pull it off.

    Mahalo

    H.P.
