  1. Yes, I have heard the same about the outgassing of plastics - but man it smells great!
  2. That sounds very familiar indeed! Took delivery at end of May, hit second week in July. Made one payment and had not even changed the oil yet! And yes, our insurance companies are still duking it out because the kid that hit me lied to his insurance company after telling the cop that he did, in fact, hit us and we weren't moving. DTSGUY - we feel your pain!
  3. 2013 and 2014 are structurally identical. Welcome to the forum and to DJ ownership - Journey = Love. You cam add a backup camera, too: http://www.mopar.com/part/82212553?s=353095&i=1991380&b=dodge
  4. Wow, that really sucks - so sorry. You've really done a nice job customizing your DJ, too.
  5. From the album: Journeyman's 2013 Copper Pearl Crew

Nothing like freshly detailed Copper Pearl and direct sunlight - as if it's on fire.
  6. That is not insignificant. Every time you get in your new car and breathe in that wonderful new car smell, you are reminded that you do indeed have a new car, accompanied by that short wave of pride and joy that goes along with it. My kids love the new car smell. There is still hint of it in our three month old Journey but it's beginning to fade. To have it robbed from you really is a shame. You are preaching to a very empathic choir here!
  7. Welcome and enjoy! Post up some pictures!
  8. I know that you are right about that, too. It's a shame that there is such incompetence in the dealer body. And not just at Chrysler stores, mind you - it's industry-wide. The manufacturers are trying very hard to educate their people in product knowledge and customer service but it's a slow process fraught with seemingly insurmoutable obstacles - cost-cutting and greed at the ownership (principal) level being only a couple of many. But getting back to the topic - I agree that you sometimes have to spell it out for people that you mean business, even though that should never be necessary and the service department's mission should be to cater to the customer. Sometimes I'm a bit naive because I work in the community that I live in, which is relatively small and word-of-mouth, as Rolly states, is a very powerful tool - much more so than advertising. Not trying to pat myself on the back, but my store would be out of business in a big hurry if we didn't do the right thing by our customers in the small-town arena that we operate in.
  9. Less than two thousand miles to wear the inside edge of the tire off? Something is drastically wrong, and I'm frankly shocked that two complete replacement sets of wheels and tires were authorized to try and correct the condition. The district manager should be fully involved at this point if he/she is not already. Please keep us posted.
  10. That should not be necessary. Every C/J/D/R dealer has the same access and information. All that is needed is the VIN which they already have. When the service advisor writes your repair order, reiterate your prior complaint about the transmission's shift quality and advise them that the TSB applies to your VIN (you can tell them you have a relative at a dealer in NY if you want to - we're all family here anyway!) There is absolutely no reason for them not to do it - TSB's are fully reimbursable within the provisions of the New Car Warranty and they will be paid by the factory to do it. Your service advisor may even be paid commission on it if their pay plan is structured as such (most are) although it won't be much. You are welcome to show them what I have posted but they already have it, and they will have to document the eligibility of the TSB by the VIN when they submit the claim for reimbursement.
  11. This TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) applies to your Journey. Schedule an appointment to have it done, as I checked your Warranty history and I see no record of its completion along with your last oil change. This should improve the shift quality of your transmission. The symptoms you describe closely resemble the issues that this reflash is designed to address. The check engine light (MIL) does not have to be on for this bulletin to apply. Software updates for multiple issues are often bundled together, as in this case. 12. Sounds awesome! Would love to see pictures. Try uploading them to Photobucket. Once you've done that, the picture will appear in your library. Each thumbnail will have four buttons underneath it. Click the button labeled "direct", copy it, then click the "image" button in the toolbar that appears in this window when you reply or post to a topic. A window opens and you paste the url into the window and your pictures will display once you've posted to the forum.
  13. That is highly unusual. Patriot and Compass are some of the most reliable vehicles we sell at our dealership. Few, if any brake issues and I can't recall a no-start issue at all. Sorry for the trouble but at least you're driving a new Journey which is definitely more cool!
  14. Congrats and welcome! Three months of Journey ownership so far and it keeps getting better.
  15. I was quite surprised by that number also. I re-set the values when I filled the tank so it would record accurately for that specific trip. I figured 25-26 at best. We have been averaging 21.5 - 23.5 MPG each tank with a combination of around town and highway trips which I think is very respectable for a vehicle of this size and power. The engine really does not work hard at all on the highway - the tachometer reads around 1600 RPM at 70 MPH.
  16. Just completed a 300 mile round trip, mostly highway, cruise control set for 70 MPH most of the time, some hills. 28.1 MPG. 2013 Crew, 3.6 with FWD w/ 5500 miles, driver and three passengers.
  17. Average speed shows up in a sub-screen in the Nav system. Next time you take a trip, zero out all the values in that sub-screen and it will show you specific data about your trip, including average speed and max speed.
  18. I don't work for the company proper, but I am the service manager for a small dealership.
  19. 68080977AC is a valid Mopar part number for wiring. List price is $86.35 and there are currently 176 in the US National parts depot.
  20. iPhone 4s - when streaming music via Bluetooth I do not get track info or anything else except "James's iPhone" displayed. Would love to see the song / artist / album info - even though I already know who they are.
  21. Post the last eight digits of your VIN and the approximate mileage on the car now ( I don't think you have enough posts to PM me directly) and I'll check if any software updates are available for your transmission. The shifting is a sore spot with many owners and even I don't care for how it shifts in certain conditions (not all). The transmission itself is extremely reliable. The software which controls it is the issue. There have been improvements; I can check to see if they are available for yours.
  22. They all have to be the same size otherwise it will wreak havoc with the ABS system due to rotation speed differences. Is yours AWD? If so, even more critical because two different tire sizes will burn up the clutches in the power transfer unit.
  23. The Customer Assistance Center here in the US has become very responsive and proactive to customer concerns in the last few years, in my experience. Customer satisfaction is a top priority at Chrysler these days since that is really the only way to earn repeat business, not to mention the fact that we as consumers pay a lot of money for new cars, and they are expected to perform in a relatively problem-free manner. The dealers, like the cars themselves, are also expected to serve the customer well. Glad to see that the good folks at Chrysler Canada are right on top of things for you. That has become the new normal now and not the exception, I am happy to report.
