  1. That's wierd, many people have reported that the dodge recommended 235/55/19 size fits just fine. Are you positive they tried that correct size tire?
  2. Correct, one hand touch unlocks everything. On my 2012 there's a button on the rear hatch like klingoff describes...that also unlocks everything.
  3. I don't think you could safely mount a tire that's 2" wider then the originals on the same wheels (The shop may refuse to mount them). That would give you almost 4" of tire width overhang, much bigger than the 7" wide wheel. I would go with 245/50 or 255/50 if you're looking for a wider tire that will safely fit on the wheel and not rub.
  4. And that is exactly why I didn't get an AWD. 10 mpg is HORRIBLE!!! You could drive a giant lifted truck or diesel truck pulling 10000 lbs and get the same mileage. Even when i do all city driving, I don't think I've ever seen below 20mpg before.
  5. Just got back from a 2000 mile trip from south California to Idaho and back in our 2012 DJ Crew 3.6L. On the way there I got 28.1 mpg average and on the way back to California I only got 26.2 mpg (stuck in a stupid traffic jam for 1 hour). On the way to Idaho I also was carrying 400+ lbs more in gear and passengers. I guess the DJ does not like to sit in traffic jams as much as cruze on the highway. I was doing 80 mph for most of the drive. Very impressed with this type of mileage! Loving it...
  6. I would be worried about the pressure washer doing damage to the paint?
  7. I just use good ole elbow grease with a bucket of soapy car wash. Just takes a few wipe downs to get them all off. If your vehicle has a good wax coating before hand, that helps with an easy removal.
  8. Well the fuel gauge fix (replacing fuel pump) did not work at all. One fillup I got close to full. But all other fillups havent been much over 7/8. Stupid dodge. You would think it would be simple to figure crap like this out. At least the head fix was great. Nice and smooth engine once again!
  9. I drove for a couple of months with the symptoms showing. Rough idle, engine would rock back and forth when let off the brake pedal. Dealer wasn't able to get my head replacement part for about another month. I think you are safe to proceed. Just get the appointment scheduled for when you return.
  10. Yeah, I'm shocked too (since it's a defective part). Not my fault I had to go without my car for 6 days (when it should have taken them 3). And of course I can't get a hold of the service manager. I've left him 2 messages and he won't call back. I can't just drop in since it's 50 miles away. Maybe I'll call dodge customer service again...
  11. Do you realize that you just paid almost $1000 on labor to install brakes? You can easily get good quality 4 rotors and 4 pads for around $300. It's about a 3-4 hour job do replace all 4 corners. I don't feel bad for people that complain about the labor costs for things. That's why I do it all myself; saves a lot of money.
  12. I don't know why people complain so much about them. I'm going on 31k miles now with the stock Kuhmos and they are doing just fine. Still have probably 10-15k miles left on them. They are nice and quiet and wear evenly. They do good on pavement; of course they won't do well in dirt or offroad. They weren't meant for that.
  13. So I called Dodge Customer Service (1-800-992-1997) and they won't reimburse me for my rental; awesome. They said the only time they will pay for a rental is if it's pre-authorized from Dodge and coordinated through the dealership. This is NOT what the dealer told me; they said that Dodge customer service will reimburse for the rental no problem, not that it had to be pre-authorized. Now I guess I have to go fight with the dealership when I pick up my car in a few hours to make them cover it. Since I was under the impression that it would be a reimbursement, not a pre-authorization. What else can I do in this case? It sounded like customer service would cover it no problem. Otherwise I'll be out $200 for a weeklong rental (that should have only been a 3 day rental when I originally dropped the car off).
  14. Just got a call...they had some 'problems' with my vehicle which isn't encouraging. Now I have to wait to pick up the vehicle on Wednesday. WTF Dodge?! This sucks...Stuck in a lame Nissan Rogue.
  15. Going to pick the car up today. I'll talk to the manager to see if they'll cover it. If not I'll call the customer hotline.
  16. When I dropped my DJ off yesterday they told it wouldn't be a problem at all to get me into a free rental car through Hertz. Since it's a manufactoring defect (not my fault at all), it would be covered. Then as I'm picking up the rental Dodge calls the rental company and says no, I have to pay for the rental out of pocket. Even though I don't have extended warranty or rental coverage, is it still worth the effort to fight the $100 for a rental for a few days? Dodge screwed up on making a part, so I have to pay myself to have a vehicle for my wife and kids while I'm at work??? Seems like total bullcrap to me. I don't mind having to pay for the gas (50 miles) to drop the car off, but come on guys. Dodge screwed up making the part; this isn't my fault and I shouldn't have to pay a dime for anything to get it fixed. I'm going to fight it with the manager when I pick the car up.
  17. We got our 2012 Crew FWD with 4.3" screen, leather, 3rd row seat/HVAC option, and 19" chrome clads for $25k out the door (over a year ago in California). I thought that was a pretty good deal.
  18. Dealer finally got the head in. Got my appointment scheduled for tomorrow so we'll see how it goes!
  19. And this is a prime example why I do my own oil changes. You just can't trust lazy people these days. A decade ago I took my car to get the oil changed at a shop (my first time ever doing this). On the drive home everything starts smoking and the oil light comes on. Turns out the idiots took the o-ring off the oil filter, so the engine had run dry and left me stranded. Needless to say, that was the last time I ever took a vehicle to a shop (except for free warranty work when needed).
  20. To hook up the powered infinity sub do you still have to run external power wires and rca cables to the back? Or can you tap in to the stock amp under the passenger seat?
  21. Have you had the transmission TSB done? My vehicle used to shutter (almos buck back and forth). It would happen when sitting at a stop light, when I let off the brake it would do the bucking/shuddering until I hit the gas. But, I just had the TSB done last night and it's fixed! Plus the gear shifts are sooo much smoother now. Well worth your time to get it done! It's TSB 18-008-13.
  22. Well it was a bad head...valves wouldn't hold compression in cylinder #2. But the head is on backorder so it'll be a couple of weeks. But the new transmission flash is amazing!! Shifts are so freaking smooth now. They ran out of time to do the fuel mod SK that'll be next time with the head swap.
  23. Just dropped my baby off to the dealer...I hate taking it there. Makes me feel so lonesome and separated! They seemed well aware of the common problems with the DJ (misfire Cylinder #2, A/C vent split issue, fuel tank not filling up, and rough transmission shifts). They did say they would provide a rental for free if it was required.
  24. Lol, somehow it changed to Dodge Caravan...used to be the DJ forum links.
  25. That sucks, I thought I read that people on here were getting courtesy vehicles for vehicles that had to be worked on for greater than a day. Maybe that was part of the extended warranty package? Or do car insurance options provide that? I'm not taking it to the selling dealer (they are 2 hours away). I'll chat with them when I drop the car off thursday morning to see if they can hook me up.
