  1. yeah they get heated quickly over there. for '10 the recommended oil was 10w40 so thats what my father uses. I tell him no need for flushes but he insists saying that ever since he was in college he's used them with no ill effects, so why stop now. But since this oil analysis he finally gave in and said fine I won't any more. 5w30 would be fine but he sticks to what the manual says and no if ands or buts haha. I like Pennzoil Ultra for cleaning the engine and then use mobile 1 advanced fuel efficiency in my personal car (08 Saturn Astra). The PU is crazy at cleaning, 4K max and I need to change the oil.
  2. So, this is our first UOA on our '10 DJ and we were quite shocked. I didn't want to do a motor flush but my father insisted so we did one 5 min before changing the oil. Metal particulates were high and they suspect that to be the cause. I'll attach the form so you all can see the report. DJ has 47,888 mi at time of change, had PP with a Pureone filter. oil going in was PP with a Pureone synthetic filter. Next time we won't do a flush and see if the numbers go down. I also posted this on Bob is the oil guy forum. I would post a picture but this forum allows a pent size picture. so here is the link to bob to view the report: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3366495/PP_10w30,_5,426_mi,_2010_Dodge#Post3366495
  3. we have this on our 2010 and don't know what is causing it either. Guessing brakes. Going to replace the brake discs, pad, and shoes.
  4. Save your money on the ZXE's any bulb that has a blue coating has less light output down the road. get some 9011 & 9012 HIR bulbs instead from candle power store they are a lot brighter than stock by far. As far as fogs go you can find LED bulbs that will fit, otherwise candlepower store also has Chrysler style fog lights.
  5. If you've never used clay on a car before. Oh man is clay the work of the Gods because it makes a cars finish so great before polishing even.
  6. So you're telling me a dealer can break something then decide if they want to replace it or not?" first thread under "Engine, Powertrain & Transmission" http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/3259-rough-transmission-shifs/ There the link. that sub forum is full of tranny issues, there needs to be a sub forum of the sub forum to handle all of them.
  7. Better tires, and early reports people were having a vibration caused by their mudflaps, if you grab the rear bumper on a DJ it is very loose and you can warp the bumper about 4 inches side to side. Go behind the wheel well and give it a good shake and you will know what I mean, if you have mudflaps they catch the wind and cause a shudder. Do you all have mudflaps? The rear bumper on these are terrible. The corners under the lights pop out and wont go back in, and how bad the fit in finish allowing that bumper to move like that. unbelievable.
  8. I contacted you 2 years ago and nothing was done, a number was given along with a reference number and nothing was done either. Oh and how about a fix for those of us with that tranny issue with its dedicated thread? Tranny slipped out of gear while towing a trailer and revved its socks off and wouldn't go back into gear until I shut the car off.
  9. Dons auto clinic in Cadillac Michigan-BAD salesmen are awesome but service sucks! I would like to get DodgeCares in on this one. IT was a while ago so maybe there might not be anything he can do but it was after we got the DJ in 2010 or early 2011 when we took it in. The rear license plate bulb sockets were melted and very terrible looking. Took it in under warranty, no problem there. But upon pickup the rear hatch plastic panels surrounding the window and lower portion were not in right and were all floppy. Mechanics did a terrible job setting them into the retaining clips. We brought it back to get done right because I couldn't figure it out and I didn't want to break anything. So they get it put back and guess what they broke stuff!!! When I looked in it with the service secretary there was one retaining clip broken off and laying on the back cargo cover and .5'x1' emergency lift-gate cover were broken and laying there. I picked them up and was like why are these broken? And I looked at the latch cover again and it had a gap still that wouldn't close when you pushed it up where it should. I told her, "this is going to get replaced because you broke it right?" and she went inside sat down at her computer, brought a service manager out and they said that "Chrysler probably wouldn't let us buy a whole new cover just because that broke off." I said you better look into it because you guys broke that! and I never heard from them again. I went in a month later and they said Chrysler denied it. With the emergency cover, they superglued that back on. So moral of the story, Dons will never be my to go place ever!
  10. Also look at your fuses to see if any are popped.
  11. Yeah I know thats how it works, but when it never changes its pretty annoying telling you to change the oil way before you need to.
  12. Yeah, my input and issues along with a few others who got the V3 tritons first gave them reason to update the V3s already. They had problems and V-leds took responsibility and are fixing them with thicker gauge wires and a flasher unit build in. But all in all they did fix my issues well and they are working great! they are ridiculously bright even during the day unlike most common LEDs. Their new stuff is top quality.
  13. You would think the Comp. Would know if the oil is synth, or dino, not to start another oil thread, but since the computer can tell what octane fuel is in it; You think the car would be able to tell if the oil is synthetic or not and adjust change intervals around that as well.
  14. I didn't know the DJ had a computer to determine the mileage between changes, our 08 Astra also has this. But I don't understand why it has never changed. Idk just my thoughts.
  15. For how all the factors in how we drive there is no reason to do it as early as 3,500mi. It has never changed and it will probably never change.
  16. It's laziness. Pure laziness in some ways, for example. The manuals oil change states I believe something like 5,000 miles? (off the top of my head) and the computer in the car goes off after 3,500 miles. Apparently someone didn't get the memo in regards to the oil changing interval.
  17. As in Research and Development. If Dodge is going to take the Dodge Journey into teh future and not kill it off after a few refreshes they seriously should look into doing some more R & D. I know every car has its problems but the DJ is a great looking car, great features and has a great price. I mean thats why we got it, you too right? But after first year "woos" they still have problems, brake problems, drivetrain problems, rust problems. There have been complaints and warranty repairs but they are still using the same components and have not done substantial upgrades to rid the problem. I hate to say it but since the introduction of the DJ there have been drivetrain problems (just search the forum and you'll find loads to threads) and yet they are putting out the same software and same "hardware" in our cars. Those with flashes still have problems, and those who have HUGE problems are told its normal. From what I understand Chrysler did do something about the brakes but it wasn't a good fix. Now if Chrysler wants to succeed with this car they need a revamp of everything under the sheetmetal. Litteraly, really? water getting stuck inside the door panels? If a car is having problems like that there was a major engineering problem. Light sockets getting melted, bumper fitment problems, and much more. Maybe I'm just a littls flustered after our DJs tranny took a dump and magically fixed itself without the Dodge Mechs. knowing what happened. But I think they should step back and take a deep breath and give everything a more thourough test before they release it to the public.
  18. Watch out after the transmission, note any "rough" shifts, chugging, surging, or noises from the power train. There have been a few with major problems (including myself) and if you have ANY symptoms take it back and get it looked after right away. Ours took a hard dump and they are doing jack squat about it. Hope it doesn't happen to you.
  19. tirerack.com We got a set (4) of Firestone Precision touring. They are great so far. $452.00 for a set which is not bad, they are way better than the stock Khumos. Tirerack.com and put in your cars info and read the reviews, surveys, and tests they have done. Thats what we did and god the "Best" for our money. If you want me to go indepth with these compared to the khumos just ask.
  20. The v3s are pretty sweet. I have a video of my V3's when they were malfunctioning... here it is... I have the first gen switchback and they were ok in the daytime and great at night. And I have the first gen platinum amber turn signals as well and they are great in the daylight and night, so I'm guessing that the second gen platinum are better. But if you want the Platinum series you WILL need to wire in resistors, which can be a pain in the ass. Thats a reason I got the V3s for the DJ no cutting or re wiring. And ours are 3157 NOT 3157CK. CK are for japanese cars mainly. most Toyotas and Lexus's use the CK type.So if you were to go the route of platinum series LEDs from V-LEDs.com you would need: "x" many pairs of V3's, 1 pair if just front, 2 if you have a pre 2011 DJ. "x" many pair of resistors. knowledge of what wires to cut and rewire.
  21. You need to use a resistor for the front turn signals in your 2013 Dodge journey, check out V-leds.com and look up their V3 Triton leds, I have them in our 2010 Journey and they work great and are honestly the best LEDs you can get for a car in the aftermarket. They come with a resister in-line so you have to do no wire modifications. CAN-BUS is for interior leds, we have leds inside and out and the front two map lights in ours are not CAN-BUS so for interior you need canbus leds. How do I know? the leds only work with the ignition in the on or running position.
  22. That is not bad at all. For HIDs in reflectors I actually thing this is the first car with good cutoff. if you google HIDs in reflector housings you see what I was expecting. scattering everywhere and just horrible light distribution, but this is not bad at all. I am impressed. Good work! :beerchug:
  23. sick man! only if there was a way to install that chrome grill into the fake foglight grills.
  24. That looks really good for HIDs in a reflector housing! how about the cutoff when up against a wall? from about 20 feet away.
  25. and smarshall2013 I see your interests include "motorcycles" do you own one? I own a bike as well.
