  1. Well... usually I don't really trust those consumer reports, and the worst is JD PXXXR. that seems to be the worst, and looks like they like to receive some cash, and do a good report on certain brand all the time.... Like Mazda for example, no one report that their car likes to rust after like 4-5 yr, I am sure that many Mazda have this problem, but I hardly hear anything from those reports... Hey Rob, just curious, why you hate GM so much anyways?
  2. Yea, I know taking good care on the car is required, and when i own my 96 caravan (Brand new from dealer, not a used car), I follow the maintenance schedule religiously, but still... end up with lots of problems... When I got the car, the first thing I messed up is the rear brakes (I park my van with the hand brake on, so after like 1 week, the rear pad deform, and I need to replace that at my own cost) then about 1 month later, electrical problem comes (All those interior light likes to go on & off depends on the car's mode) so all those wiring harness and stuff got replace by dodge under warranty and then about 3 month later, cold winter comes, and the fuel gauge don't function properly (Suddenly drop down to no fuel or full of fuel), of course dodge fix it for free. After that fix, I enjoy some problem free period for about a good 9 months, then the spring starting to falls apart. The Spring becomes very soft in sudden, good thing is under dealer's warranty, and after that, basically I need to visit the dealership almost every single month to fix something... After like 4 yrs of having problems continuously, I finally decide to get another car...
  3. Thanks for your help. You really make me learn more on Dodge's tranny. OH, still have more questions for you.... For that Prime gear, how is that work? (If the Prime gear is included, basically that's 7 gear in total) Base on what I understand, the Journey's tranny isn't a CVT tranny, so how do they do that to create that gear? Other than that, will it be possible to modify the shifting sequence? Like 1,2,3,4prime, 4,5,6?
  4. Hey Keith sorry for the confusion... What am I trying to ask is, for a regular dodge car, can it at least get close to Hyundai, or Mazda or even back to the late 80's dodge reliability. OR They are doing those warranty for marketing purpose? OR They are doing the maintenance into the new dimension? (Everything can get replaced easily like a race car) For the strut, I understand it's very very bullet proof on all the car, but... they count as wear & tear component. (the best warranty covers it when I check that like 2 days ago) Other than that, back to the mid late 90's dodge caravan's strut hardly last longer than 2 yr... That's why I am asking that...
  5. Hi, howcome the Hemi's tranny is 545, what is that mean?? Other than that, what is CTD, and SCT stand for?? For the prime gear, how is that really work?? It's mostly for towing stuff or... Sorry to ask those newbie questions... hope you don't mind
  6. that means this tranny will last for 20more HP?? or I am wrong? the 4L caravan (Town & Country) use that tranny too?? Will there be a 63or even 65 tranny that will fit into this car? Yea... originally charging me 5000 for tranny + labor... after 20min of bitching around, call the head office, the pricer lowered to 750 in total... For sure they seal their tranny these days, like GM. they find out that there is too many PPL keep touching the tranny in-appropriately, so it end up on their cost... (Sure) Or like Ford, somehow their tranny oil likes to develop some germs to eat metal... so I guess sealing it will means no germs, water and dirt gets into there, so it may be better? or worst? I really duno...
  7. Is Dodge really improve that much, or they switch to the race car style? (every parts can switch out within like 1-2 hr) Even strut & spring at all 4 corner included? IIRC, their basic morno strut only last for like 2 yr, then it will leak oil like crazy...
  8. Is it OK to tell me the detail of the lifetime warranty? If I am going to get a Dodge, longer the warranty, the better it is (Unless I know when am I going to sell it)
  9. ICIC... so it's a on demand type then.... For me, the on demand is always a question of how "on demand" it turns on, and under what condition it will not be on.... that's why it's always real AWD or 4WD or FF or RR, no in-between, no getto stuff. Like Honda's CRV, after like 120km, the system basically can't turn on, and you can guess... if you drive it like a AWD car... good luck... somtimes the worst situation is when the car is slipping, the AWD can't turn on when you need, so....
  10. Nah... not turbo, properly a ram air setup! or those getto one! Actually I am worrying how good will it even last at stock... My 96 caranvan blow it's tranny on the highway and only have 47000km, so.... Dodge's car, I always wonder will it really last.....
  11. Anyone knows how is Journey's AWD system works? Is it those AWD which only works @ like 0-60km, and doesn't work on highway? What is power split in between the front & rear wheel?
  12. Do anyone know that model number on the 6 speed AT tranny, and all those techinical info on this tranny? Other than that, how many HP & Torque is this tranny build for?
  13. Depends on what you like... After run-in the engine, do a synthetic oil change is good, so that your car's engine will last longer. (Way longer than you will except compare to those with regular oil) [My test is on Mobile 1, so other synthetic oil, I don't know] But... 1 thing which drives me nuts is will today's dodge car last up to that 7-8yr without "too many" maintenance.... Usually it's not the engine breaks down first, it's soemthing like tranny, shocks, and spring... those so call wear & tear parts.....
