well if you had read my post had to have a side cover replaced, so when the battery went bad we were heading that way anyway so yes i stopped by to get it replaced . wasnt sure if the local parts store would have the right one, which would have cost about $6.00 for 2 of them. only took them about 10 minutes to fix it for me.once they took it apart to find out what kind of battery was in it.....

i have a 2011 mainstreet at 10k they told me they had to turn the front rotors due to them warping, aabout 1 month ago took it back in for the last oil change with 32k on it. told them the brakes were shuddering again, after checking them they said the rotors needed to be replaced at my cost we got into a discussion about that and as i told them they should have replaced them at the 10 k instead of turning them,then they offered to do the labor for free if i bought the parts and i still said no as they wanted 190.00 for the rotors.told them it should be taken vare of the one time goodwill offer thur chrysler. they called back later and said they would replace everything for free. they put on new pads and rotors. i had checked on the parts thur the local parts store and rotors and pads would have cost me less than 140.00 and do it myself.

if you have advance auto parts stores in canada go to retailmenot.com and click on their coupon codes and buy on line and you will save alot of money also advance also will give 1 free set of pads after they are wore out all the other parts store that sells them wont i always but wagners thremo-quite pads about $54.00 ive been told ceramic pads are harder on your rotors due to the heat they build up but they dont give you the dust problems like reg pads.... goood luck

have a 2011 mainstreet with 17 inch kumos and just turned 33k they they still look great they look less than half worn out, have rotated them 2 times so far.i do alot of interstate driving.i run 36 to 38 psi in them.my daughter runs a postal route in her dodge van and she goes thur a set of tires in 7 months, all the stop and go and on-off the road wears them out her brakes only last about 6 months also but it is how you drive and how you take care of them.

had to have the plastic side cover replaced on the passenger seat today as the tabs broke loose fron the metal clips. got home, and then went to go out for lunch with the wife and see a message on the info center that my battery in my key fob is running low , so i go down to the local dealership and they check the fob and say the battery is fine and then they have a long talk about if it even has a battery in it. i laugh at that and told them it had to have a battery in it. well to make a loooong story short they looked it up and and said yes their was a battery in it and they went ahead and put a new one in. WHEW they wore me out on this repair. it was covered under the 36k waranty. i do have to admit this was not the dealer the i normal use and wont go back to them as this was such easy repair work i didnt think they could mess it up.but i dont know.. oh well so far so good

well just took my journey back to the dealer and they installed the new rotors and also put new pads on also only took them 1 hour so i waited on them. back on the road with new front brakes didnt think to ask if i would get the 12 or 12000 mile warrenty that you usally get with dealer installed parts. as this was a one time good faith repair on the brakes oh well i am happy and when they start to give me any more problems will fix them myself. do have to say that cullman dodge in cullman al. does go the extra mile to help their cust.

thanks have never had the opp yet to do rear disk brakes yet, just the fronts.as a safety note always use jack stands under the car even if you feel it is okay to use just the jack as they can fail, better safe than sorry.......

i agree with redtomatoman my 2011 mainstreet has 31k on it and my tires look and ride great i have rotated them twice and they still look like they will go an other 31k dont know if i will buy more of them or not but i dont have no complaints about them. i have always like bridgestone tires as i do alot of interstate driving so my tires might last longer than someone doing alot of stop and go.also i always replace my tires way before the tread bars get close to showing as i like deep tread on my tires for better water hydroplaning so if i get 60 k out of a tire i feel like i have got my moneys worth.. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY but thats how i feel about using the tires down to the tread bars drive safe my friends

dont know about 2012 but the 2011 have semi-metalic. because i was just talking to the dealer about them. guess its who you ask about the ceramic pads they dont have the dust problem from what i hear, but are rough on the rotors. oh well who knows

if you buy from advance auto and buy the wagner thermo-quite pads they will replace them 1 timr for free auot zone and rileys auto wont. i really like the wagners thermo never tried the ceramic pads and the parts man says they are rougher on the rotors then normal as they build up more heat

just got back from my last oil change my 2011 has 31k on the speedo the dealership turned my rotors at 10k and they are starting to mess up again so had the delaership take a look at them.they said they were to far to turn and said i would have to pay for new ones as i had 31k, i argued with them and asked them to call chrysler and ask for a goodwill event as they should have been replaced instead of turning them before and they called me back and said if i would pay for the new rotors <after market rotors as they dont have none in stock>they would do the labor for free. i asked how much for the rotors and they told me $195.00 i laughed at them and told them i could buy them alot cheaper then that at advance auto and do it my self. then they called me back and said they would do the job for free as soon as the rotors come in as the are on back order and it might be 2 weeks or 2 months before they get the parts. i said okay since they will do the whole job for free. My wife said i sould just go ahead and do them myself since i can buy new rotors and new pads<thermo-Quiet > for about $130.00 at least i would know they would be done right and using quality parts. havent decided which route to go.If i let the dealer do them ill have new rotors but used pads that are about half wore out or do them myself and not have to worry about them for a long time. also i use website retailmenot.com to get coupon codes for advance auto that saves you a good chuck of change off of the retail price. you use the code and order on line and pay on line than go down and pick up the parts at your local store works really good give it a try.

i always use some bumper sticker remover that you buy from any auto parts store just spray it on and let it set a little spray some more on and start lifting the edge of the letters or badges that you want removed you might use a plastic stick or scraper to help get under the edge. have never used any heat source to help remove them. done my 2011 right after i got it.

yea my wife gets upset with me when we are on a trip and stop for gas and i leave the car running (since its like 100 degrees) and get out to pump the gas and the bells keep going off, found out leave the door open a litttle and it doesnt chime.. happy wife and happy me

good luck on getting any car company to give you a life time warranty. unless you can go back in time. dont think any will ever do it again.. but i do love my 2011 mainstreet have had to the brakes worked on once but have 27k on them now and they might need to be turned again but i dont think they are bad enough for them to agree to it. other than that i would rec. this car the 3.7 engine will really get up and go.

next thing ill be doing is walking up to the house door and expecting it to open without using my keys.

that is what your manual says,but the dealer i use bugs the hell out of me sending me emails and when i take it in for the free oil changes they put the little sticker on the windshield with the next oil change listed at 3500 miles. its up to you to decide when you want to take it in your choice. ive just switched over to syn. oil so ill be going longer between the changes now. happy trails

other than my self who has went to their journey to go some where and try to open the door only to find out you left the keys in the house, LOL i have got so use to not haveing to have the keys in your hand to start it that i dont pay any attention to where they are.or you set them down in the car and then try to lock it only to have the car beep at you to let you know you have left your keys inside. oh well thats progress i guess

are you still in warranty,guess not if your trying to fix it yourself. good luck and let us know if you get it fixed..

check your manual, it should tell you how to lock your car without the horn beeping once.on my 2011 you have to use the on board instruction thur the 8.4 screen to turn it on or off. act i like to hear it beep so i know i did it, but then thats my own thing. also if you had to ask the dealer they wouldnt charge you as the service rep would or should show you how to do it since it is still within warranty. good luck

just got back from a trip out to vegas from al about 2k each way. at home in al i can put in as much as i can and the trip est. says that i can go about 480 miles or so when i was out in new mexico and las vegas and would show as high as 560 miles before empty. wonder if it has something to do with the elavation or the pressure inside the tank. well not enough of a problem to lose sleep over but it is wierd as this seems to be the only car that ive ever had problem with. my daughter had a 2008 wrangler x that she had problem filling with gas and just before she got rid of it jeep did a recall and replaced the tank or filler tube not sure which they did but it fixed the problem.

i am assuming all of you having this problem are all wheel drive vs just front wheel drive versions.

just got back from a 2month,5200 mile trip from alabama to las vegas and took the long way home thur kansas and missouri and kentucky. no problems with the journey and avg. 23-24 going out to vegas due to the wind and elavation and on the way back got about 28-30 till i got into kentucky then started avging about 23-24 again. of course this was driving interstate rds.doing about 75mph. seen alot of great country side and almost got a ticket in texas after stopping in a small town for a dairy queen and started back off and didnt realize i was doing 45mph in a 30 mph zone,with the car rideing so smooth and with the pentastar engine so strong it is easy to get a ticket lucky the city cop took it easy on me and said to slow it down,(WHEW) noticed when you are going into a speed zone and you cut off the cruise control the car just seems to coast along without slowing down like my other vans did,guess that is the 6 speed tranny doing its thing have to be carefull going into small towns that have speed zones from 65 to 30 in a short distance. i did have my brakes rotors checked when the car had about 10k and the dealer turned them and i do seem to notice that with about 27k on the speedo i am starting to notice a slight shuddering again when brakeing from a high speed or going down steep hills so will have to have the dealer take a look at the rotors again think ill tell them that if they need turning again to see if chrysler will replace them as it would be the 2nd time to be turned, other then hat i have been well pleased my my 2011 mainstreet and would recomened this car to anyone that is thinking of getting one.

my 2004 caravan had a similer noise for a long time could never find it and it kept getting louder and i finnally found it was a bar behind the engine that had bushings on both ends and right side i dont think was tightened up tight enough at the factory and the rubber bushing had sliped out of the bolts that held it. of course it was on sunday and i had to drive about 300 miles to get back to work so i was able to lube it up a little and got it baack in and then tightend the hell out of it the other side was fine . solved the problem good luck

i always use Wagner thermo-quiet pads they cost about $60.00 and when replacing rotors have always used advance auto cheapest rotors with all my past 4 grand caravans and never had any problems with the rotors giving me any problems( i would believe the grands and journeys weight about the same or close) and first brake job i would do unless having any problems with rotors i wouldnt even turn or replace the rotors and then the next brake job i replace the rotors. dodge must be using sub standard rotors becuse ive i had to have mine turned by the dealer at about 10k and have 21 k on them now and somtimes i am feeling a slight pluse in the streeing and brake pedal when you have to slow down fast at hwy speeds. i am going on a 5k rd trip and wondering if they will get worse by the time i get back.dont know if i will take it back to the dealer or replace the brakes and rotors my self and see if that takes care of it.
