  1. Sorry I missed her saying she bought it new. That still doesn't excuse ddh3 for what he said. I have no problem with people stating facts good or bad about the Journey, they are entitled to state their opinion, just as I am, which I did, I shouldn't have used the words arrogance and stupidity but hair colour does not determine intelligence. Terry
  2. With all due respect, hair colour really has nothing to do with it, if you are trying to be funny, you sadly failed. It just shows your arrogance, insensitivity as well as stupidity. Maybe she bought it used and didn't have a choice when it came to a warranty. That happens and she would have no control over it. You don't know that, So don't denigrate her maybe try to help her, after all your Journey is only a year old and maybe we'll hear you complaining in the future. The Journey is not without it's problems, ask anyone who has had premature brake wear, burst power steering lines etc. and several other problems that people here have experienced. Krista was wrong with her dispariging remarks about Dodge and could have said them in a better way but I understand her frustration and lack of support from either Dodge or her dealer. Terry
  3. I reset it after each fill up, gives me a more accurate view on each tank. I do agree that it does not seem accurate right upon fill up and takes probably 16 kms. or ten miles to 'settle' down to a accurate reading. It was as someone mentioned an immediate reading. Terry
  4. Oh God no, I just got through the GM recall in my Saturn Sky and it was a nightmare. Terry
  5. To Defender007, I know this is a hassle but did you ride around with them to verify this? Can you trust the dealership? Have you taken your "your problem" and presented it to another dealership? I'm pretty sure Dodge Cares can intervene and possibly dig deeper into this problem. Have you contacted Chrysler Canada regarding this? There has to be a reason for this poor mileage......did they fix the battey? Did they fix the charging system including the alternator? I have a 2010 Dodge Journey R/T AWD and while it doesn't get as good a mileage as others have claimed, I am satisfied nonetheless. Terry
  6. I guess I would like to have a "rough" idea what my car was getting: Me currently 14,6 mpg - US Gallon 17.6 mpg - Imp. Gallon 16.1litres/100 kms - Can. This is an overall average mileage for almost 5 years of very varied driving both in an urban setting and on the highway, it takes in to account very cold driving (where mileage is poor), idling or 'warming' up the car in winter, city and highway driving. Best: 29.6 mpg - US Gallon 35.5 mpg - Imp gallon 8.0 litres/100 kms. Can All this can be verified by going to the My Fuelly site in my signature. As you can see my mileage is all over the map, it really makes a difference summer vs, winter, regular vs,premium, city vs, highway. Just my thoughts......... Terry
  7. I must admit that is very poor mileage, it sounds almost too easy, but I would take it in to the dealer and see what he has to say about this problem Defensder007. I know the mileage in our winter gets much worse than the summer, but that is going way too far. Terry
  8. I myself wouldn't say my Journey is a gas guzzler but does get a little worse than the average. You can see nearly 5 years of data at the link below, www.myfuelly.com. In my case it is real world stuff, I live on the Canadian Prairies where in winter warming up a car in winter is just a fact of life. We tend to have large amounts of snow and very cold weather. My gas mileage definitely takes a kicking during this time of year. Terry
  9. Sooooooo true............... terry
  10. Thanks, just been very busy lately but I am back.......... Terry
  11. My Journey is a 2010 R/T AWD, so this winter will be my 5th. I live in Regina, Saskatchewan and we had record amounts of snow in 2012, record lows in 2013 and through it all my Journey performed admirably. I had the stock Kumho's on for 2010, 2011, and 2012 and they were fine, last year in September I put a 235/55/19 Michelin Latitudes on it and it seemed to perform very well. There is no doubt in my mind that a set of true snow tires would probably perform better but the Latitudes seem great, good on ice and slippery conditions as well have very good traction in snow. Terry
  12. Yes I totally agree there is a huge difference between 8.1 and 8.0.1 Terry
  13. Yes I have thought of that....... Terry
  14. There is no doubt trying to use both systems is and can be very annoying at times, thus a total immersion in a system is necessary. I am very guilty of "hanging" on to the old system for some things yet quick to embrace the new, Must be my age.......LOL. As I stated earlier my weight is still in pounds, my height is still in feet and inches but temperature is in degrees Celcius and distance is in kilometers etc. Terry
  15. My iPhone with my carrier worked much better on 8.1 rather than 8.0. just me though, others may differ. Terry
  16. As with anything of that magnitude the switchover was not instantaneous for everyone. But our government changed over immediately, Even back in 1977 we had to accept the change. In 1977, I was taking Architecture in post secondary school in Calgary, Alberta, so the change over from feet and inches to meters and millimeters was especially painful. I will admit many measurements today I still use the imperial system, I still refer my weight in pounds, my height in feet and inches yet temperature and distance to name a few are degrees centigrade and kilometers. Rightly or wrongly Canada's biggest trading partner is the US so a lot of our exports are just "soft" converted as opposed to "hard" converted. I am definately not so arrogant to say the metric system is better, but IMO a system based on 10's is much easier to work with. As an example our gas mileage is based on consumption, liters/100 kms not a hypothetical number, like mpg When we talk about a car’s fuel economy, what we want to know is how much fuel does it use, not how far does it go. mpg answers the latter question, while l/100km is what gives us the answer we want. - see http://www.skepticblog.org/2012/05/24/mpg-vs-l100km/. You also actually also use US gallons as opposed to Imperial gallons. I certainly mean no disrespect to the to the American system, the metric system does offer some advantages. Terry
  17. From everything I have gathered IOS8 was a problem in itself so do an upgrade to 8.1 ASAP. Terry
  18. Back in 1977 we made the change so 37 years ago........... Terry
  19. Not nearly as useless as this post., C'mon Fred where is your sensibility, as Journey_SeXT posted until a dealer gives her a reason there is nothing that Dodge Cares can do. Let's be fair. Unless I am missing something I think Dodge Cares probably hit "Send" too quickly something we all do Terry
  20. In Canada, IMO this is one case where vanity is trumped by safety........Just my own personal thoughts. B) It is so much easier to see an oncoming car on a single lane highway with the DRL's on. Terry
  21. This is news to me, I have a 2010 Journey AWD R/T and I have never had such a problem, if you do get an answer please let us all know what it might be. Terry
  22. We also use our headlights up here when it becomes dark, As has been mentioned DRL's are for daytime use only they give more visibility especially in oncomming traffic, I'm not sure they are dull yellow lights, they are whatever type of lights you are using just dimmed down. Terry
  23. I agree with this, DRL's are for daytime driving, at night you would turn on your lights. It has a law here for so long I guess I am just used to it and appreciate it. Yesterday I was out of town with work and had to drive 500 miles roundtrip and half of that was on single lane highway so for me I liked the DRL's for oncoming traffic. Just my opinion though......... terry
  24. We are all entitled to your own opinions but I truly think DRL's are beneficial to daytime driving, IMO there is nothing wrong with being seen by others during the day. Minnesota is just below us so I am sure they have long cold dark winter nights also. In my case safety over rules vanity which is why I personally happy with my DRL's and be seen safely during the day. Terry
  25. I couldn't agree more, fortunately I have had a very solid relationship with my dealer, a small town dealer, 45 miles east of where I live. He has treated me very well for over 20 years, I was a very strong GM person until then and to date, I have had 6 vehicles from him since. Terry
