  1. Same thing with my 2013 Windancer. Would not start with the remote and just barely started when I went out. We have had some brutal temps here to. Was -26 C Sunday morning here in Lethbridge when I had the problem. Once it warmed up to about -15 C was able to use remote again. It is in the dealer now and should hear shortly.
  2. Load tested the battery this morning and we have a weak battery. Will not keep a load. Works fine when temperatures are mild but at -25 it is not strong enough to start with remote and just barley starts with ignition button. Spoke to dealer and just need to schedule it into the shop for replacement.
  3. Cold does affect cranking power. As the temperature drops so does the reserve cranking amps. At about -20 C you effectively lose 60% of the cranking power and at -40 C it looses over 80%. If you have a weak battery it can still turn over an engine in warm weather but when it gets cold you find out very quickly you have a weak battery. You also compound everything else is cold including engine oil the battery must do a tremendous amount of work to crank over the engine. That is why before I get too concerned about my remote start I am going to check the condition of the battery with a load test. If it checks out good, then I will going to the dealer to find out what is wrong.
  4. This morning tried to use the remote start and would not start the engine. Sure it was cold. -26 C (-15 F) but this is when I need it most. Did not have block heater plugged in. Forgot last night. Started when I went out to go but it did protest and did not turn over very fast. Two hours later tried remote again and no-start. Got home, shut down and restarted with remote with warm engine. No problem. Guess I should check the battery as it may be weak at those cold temperatures. Tomorrow will go to battery shop and have a load test done to see what condition battery is in and go from there.

    Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all. May 2014 be the best year yet.
  6. Try Kijiji. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/ Never know what you may find.
  7. Thanks. Yes eveyone was OK. Truck and trailer were not going very fast. Could not stop at red light on icy road. Truck only got a scratch on his bumper.
  8. Wife was out shopping today and while turning left at a traffic light a pick-up with 30 foot RV was unable to stop on the icy road and hit the rear left corner of the bumper (2013 DJ Crew). Fortunately at this point it looks like it is just the plastic bumper shroud needs to be replaced. Does not look like any actual body damage. Side benefit, the small scratch we had the bumper will be gone. Man who hit us was on his way south for the winter.
  9. Also, I don't know where you are but if you are in an area that is real cold and you still have summer windshield washer fluid it may just be frozen. When you can thaw it out replace with Winter windshield washer fluid. I have to change mine every winter as we can get temperatures down to -30 to -35 C in winter.
  10. That was my thoughts webslave. Checked that and seemed to be OK. Been good the last few days so who knows.
  11. Mine is while driving. First thought was a door was ajar but checked and all was good. I guess when if finally gives me a message, or it shuts down on me I will be able to find out what is causing the "ding". In the mean time will just keep watching and monitor for cause.
  12. Lately on my 2013 DJ Crew I have been hearing a ding from the EVIC and when I look for the reason there is nothing displayed. No idea why it is doing that.
  13. You may have tried this already but just in case, the same switch that you rotate to turn the headlights on, Push in and it should toggle the fog lamps on.
  14. Like larryl said. When I had my '09 DJ you would have a warning light on all the time with the winters and no TPMS. Wife complained about the warning light so I covered it with a piece of black electrical tape till spring when I changed back to stock rims with TPMS. Now we have the '13 DJ, after the initial alarm warning it just indicates N/A when you go to tire pressure screen.
  15. I am seriously considering putting a K&N cleanable air filter next time I need one. Good for life, just need to wash and re-oil it when dirty. I use K&N in both of my motorcycles for decades with no problems. Cost is not that much more than one paper element disposable filter. Wait till you have to replace the cabin air filter! :surrender:
  16. You would not want a pic of our car right now jkeaton. It is so covered with road grime I am afraid to go near it. With all the snow and now melting snow it is filthy. Welcome to Winter in Southern Alberta. I should run it through a car wash but would be a futile effort. Would be just as dirty within a half hour.
  17. I agree with rolly. Some people will do anything to get a new Journey. We did it the old fashioned way. We traded in our 2009 Journey SXT for a 2013 Journey Crew. Glad your wife is OK. Enjoy your new Journey.
  18. I know I complain about cold starts. And my Journey complains to. We have just come out of a real cold period. We were down to -25 F last week and I heard noises I did not hear before. I think it is about time to head south to warmer climate.
  19. Try this link. http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=4403454&ukey_assembly=695179&ukey_make=1062&ukey_model=15496&ukey_driveline=0&ukey_trimlevel=0&modelYear=2009 Looks to me like there is an O2 sensor on each side just after the catalyst. Hope this helps.
  20. I will trade you places 2late4u. LOL
  21. Hi lurrisa. Welcome to the forum. I see you are from Alberta. Not sure where you are but here in Lethbridge it is getting real ugly out there. Snow and wind coming in from the north and blizzard conditions. Not a good day to venture out but will need to get to work this afternoon. Stay warm Larry
  22. The Stealership is full of #%&$. I have had 2 Journeys and I have run the same winter tires and rims without TPMS on both of them and have had no issues. On my 2009 the low pressure warning light would come on and stay on all winter but I just put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light. (2009 and 2010 uses the same light) Now I have a 2013 and Journey_SeXT is correct, the low pressure warning went off a short time after mounting the winter tires. If you go to the tire pressure screen it will just show N/A. Only down side to not having TPMS is you have to check the pressure yourself. Get a good tire gauge and drive with confidence. Hate to say your dealer is trying to get you to spend your money for something that, true, is nice to have but will not cause you any other issues.
  23. I have not had good experience with Canadian Tire. Seems that they do not have very experienced mechanics and always want to up sell me for work that is not needed. Fortunately I can do most of the routine stuff myself, but when I do need work done that I cannot (or don't want to) do I use a independent shop that was highly recommended to me. Working out good so far. Of course the DJ is still under warranty so it goes to the dealer.
  24. I bought a set of 17" American Racing rims with winter tires for my 2009 Journey and am now using the same rims on my 2013 Crew with no issues. Should not be that difficult to find 17" rims for you. May need to try a different tire dealer.
  25. I have the same issue, but there is little that can be done as you cannot control the rain and road spray. It is going to get dirty. Wait till you drive in slush. You will not see anything. Just the way it is.
