  1. bigtsr is correct. You don't really need the sensors. Will just need to check the pressures occasionally. He is also right that the display will go out but only on the 2011 to 13's. The 2009 and 10's will have the annoying warning light on all the time without the sensors. All I did with my 2009 was cover the light with black electrical tape till spring when I put the all seasons back on. Three winters so far and no other issues. You did not mention what year Journey you have or what size tires you are running. I have 19" rims but run 17" winter rims and tires with no issues.
  2. Welcome to the group. I am sure you will enjoy your R/T.
  3. Today??? Absolutely nothing. It was chore day today. Cut grass, clean garage ect. Wife is out and about with it. B)
  4. This type of thread I find generally you hear a lot more negative than positive. When things go well you just accept it and go on, but if you have a bad experience you will tell EVERYONE about it. This is a good idea but lets make sure we get the GOOD along with the bad and the ugly. My local dealer, Bridge City Chrysler (Lethbridge, Alberta) has been good. Always prompt with the routine services. Can not speak to any warranty issues as have had very little problems. Only warranty job was on a power steering hose blew on our 2009 DJ SXT and of course it had to happen when they were getting ready to close down for Christmas. Towed it into the shop and when they reopened it was fixed in very short order. Traded the '09 in for a 2013 DJ Crew last February and so far no issues. I would recommend this dealership.
  5. Miles........Just drive and enjoy. And in between you can add stuff like bug deflector, splash guards for the wheel wells and bumper protector. Splash guards are a must. Front wheel spray will chip the paint on the rear wheel well.
  6. Nice ride. Have to agree, this is our toy.
  7. I have installed that very same hitch on my old 2009 DJ SXT and also on my 2013 DJ Crew that we bought a few months ago and did not experience any issues with the spare. I just had to guide it a little to settle into the recess. Try lowering the spare and then raise it back into position making sure the tire goes in with the hitch side of the tire leading into the recess.
  8. Double checked my DJ and it was built in Mexico.
  9. We have had 2 Journeys over the last few years (2009 SXT and 2013 Crew). Both FWD. First thing I did was get winter rims and tires and it has been great in the snow and ice here in Alberta. I looked at the Kumo's that came with it and did not even consider running them in snow. A co-worker has the same vehicle and he tried to run the Kumo's in the snow and he has complained about the traction for 2 winters now. Just can't seem to get off his wallet and invest in winter tires I guess. LOL
  10. Good review Robu. I would like to give a review on our 2013 DJ Crew but it has not been home much for me to get the chance to drive it. Between my wife going to the West Coast (Vancouver) and being up in Calgary for the last month I have not seen it much but all reports from the wife says she really likes it. We traded a 2009 DJ SXT primarily for the greater comfort of the drivers seat. With her arthritis the challenge was to find a seat that she could sit in for an extended time and after looking at almost everything under $40,000 we settled on the DJ again.
  11. That tailgate guard looks good. Tried to use the link you provided but was unavailable. Can you check it again? Thanks
  12. All the best in your future opportunity Brett. Always exciting to start a new chapter in life weather it be career or personal life. Welcome Wes. We will try to take it easy on you..........at least at first. LOL
  13. Should not have warped rotors yet. Get it back to dealer to check it out. Something is not right.
  14. Enjoy your new ride and welcome.
  15. I don't think there is a wrong decision. It is a matter of personal choice. In our case we did not even look at 4 cylinder because we tow a small tent trailer and often go into the mountains so the extra power and torque were wanted/needed for that. I am sure you will be happy with your decision and piece of mind knowing that you are the first owner. If you are going to put the wife in the cargo area, make sure you strap her down. Don't want to have her flying into you in the case of an accident. LOL (ducking and running like hell now) :backtotopic: Seriously now; enjoy your new ride.
  16. I started life MOPAR with a 1967 Plymouth Fury II as my first car. First bank loan to purchase it. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your first car. You will always remember your first.
  17. With those miles on your Journey, I think I would try a cooling flush and for the cost why not just change the thermostat for piece of mind. Thermostat should cost about $20:00 and gasket about $5:00. If you are a do-it-yourselfer it is not a bad job. I am having the opposite problem with my winter beater van. Not much heat through the heating system. I flushed the cooling system but did not bother to change the thermostat. Did not help. Takes a very long time to get to temp. Will be changing out my thermostat now. In your case, to me it sounds like your thermostat is not opening enough and could also be dirty cooling system.
  18. Welcome double9. We just recently purchased a 2013 DJ Crew in Storm Grey and love it. Better than the 2009 SXT we traded in. We opted for the aluminum rim as oppsed to the chrome clad. We had chrome on the previous one. In Canada we don't have the option of leather in the Crew. Leather is only available in the R/T. I notice US models have much more choice of options available. For instance, AWD is only available on the R/T and R/T Ralley (except 2009 AWD available in SXT and R/T). Enjoy your new ride.
  19. I agree with you on that, but there is no requirement to have the dealer do the service as long as it is done and documented. Myself, I also go to the dealer for piece of mind and in the event I do have a warranty issue there is no issues with weather the service was done and done to Dodge standards. It really does not cost that much more. Also, some owners may not live close enough to a dealer to make it practical to run to the dealer for a simple service. In Canada you could be several hours from a dealer so it is more practical for those owners to get the service done locally and have it documented.
  20. My understanding is that you do not have to go to a dealer to get your service done as long as you can document that it was done and when (date/miles). This would not void your warranty. I tend to have my dealer service my vehicle anyway during the warranty period so that they maintain the record of service and there is no debate weather it was done or not. And it does not cost that much more than a quick lube place. After the warranty has expired, I do most of my own service and maintenance. Just my 2 cents worth.
  21. Got to a balmy 6 C (43 F) yesterday. Is Spring finally here in Southern Alberta??? Not yet. Snow in the forecast for the weekend again. I guess the motorcycle stays in the garage a little longer. :heartbreaker:
  22. Now that is a very good question. Judging from looking out the window this morning I am not sure. We just got another blast of winter this morning. Maybe you will get your RT before the snow goes. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info available here.
  23. I just last weekend installed a Curt #13335 hitch (2" receiver) and T-connector #761053 wire harness on my 2013 DJ Crew. If you have basic skill it is not too difficult. Like was mentioned previously, the hardest part was dropping the exhaust system. The hitch just bolted straight up. I used the same hitch that I dropped off of my '09 DJ when I traded it in. The T-connector was easy as well. The tough part was crawling under the vehicle to run the power wire to the front. Did the whole job in a single afternoon.
  24. And yet another Canadian welcoming you. I also agree with you about the minivan thing. Kids are grown so no more minivan. Well, almost no minivan. It is now my winter beater back and forth to work vehicle. Wife gets to enjoy the DJ.
  25. Well; all done. Installed the trailer hitch that I dropped off of my old '09 DJ and reinstalled on our new 2013 DJ Crew. Bolted right up. Installed wire harness (T-Connector kit #761053) and all is good. Trailer lights work as they should. No need to have it flashed. Hardest part was routing the power wire all the way to the front and hook up to the battery. Would have been nice to have a hoist instead of jack stands and crawling around on my back. Other than that went very well.
