  1. 22,000 miles - new rotors and shoes - replaced at dealership - not doing that again, going to mechanic who works on my older truck - probably half the cost and better parts.
  2. Same here - 22K Brake Pad & Rotor Replaced. Dealer stated there was not enough material on the rotor to re-surface. Needless to say, 22K miles from now, I will be sourcing 3rd party replacements...
  3. You can be convinced...Really Your post read more like an editorial than one asking for recommendations IMHO... I'm just saying! Well all I can say is the combination of AWD and traction control in the Journey work very well together. I also own a 4x4 truck and can honestly say I feel as comfortable in the Journey as my truck. I work for a utility and had to be out in my personal vehicle during the blizzard on the east coast here and the Journey is what I chose to take out and the performance was nothing short of fantastic. So take it for what it is worth - I love it! Gas mileage and performance are good as well!

    ESP OFF

I leave the ESP on all the time and have not had one problem or as stated it getting in the way. The AWD Journey goes very well in the snow and ice. I feel just as comfortable driving it as I do my 4x4 truck.
  5. I live in the burbs of Pittsburgh and they are everywhere! I would say that within a 5 mi. radius of my house there are about 10 Journeys.

    Most miles?

19000 miles here - No regrets!
  7. Here is a piece by Fox News regarding Chrysler's 5 yr plan - Pretty Good! http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html...,571705,00.html
  8. You have got to be kidding me! Michelin's are overpriced junk and they wear out just as fast if not faster than Goodyear OEM Tires. The worst tire investment I ever made was with Michelin Touring Radials. Lots of road noise and 25K later the wear bars were showing. I purchased a set of Cooper Radials (yeah Cooper) for half the price and double the mileage. I have 10K on my Kumho tires and they wear well, no road hum and handle very well. I also work at a large company and a number of the kids who work here are tuners and the Kumho tires have a pretty good following among them, good price and quality. I guess you really don't know much about them being that they are CHINESE tires...lol
  9. They are pretty good tires! Mercedes is using them for OEM Applications as well. Here is a link on their web site for news releases. http://www.kumhousa.com/News.aspx
  10. Not to worry for those of you here in the U.S., The Big O has promised the government will back our car warranties  Government control is going to be disastrous!!! Hey at least the government can work THEMSELVES a sweet deal for new mail delivery vehicles. Lord Help Us!!! :fan:
  11. There is a thread discussing what others considered. Also, you on a Dodge Journey Forum site may have something to do with it. I'm just saying...
  12. Yeah 19 inch tires are expensive, but so are a lot of other sizes. The prices you quote don't show a price for the actual tire or is that price included in the $76/wheel price, so you still didn't account for the actual price of the tire. If they are included you can beat $76 for a tire and rim. I bought my Journey with AWD & 19" rims were standard, they were the sharpest rims available as well. I knew going in that they were more pricey than the smaller sizes. Being that my Journey is an AWD, I'm not as concerned. My thought though is the vehicle being a FWD at minimum would give it better than average ability to go in the snow, at least that is my experience. Also where do you live? You said assuming you are obligated by law to buy winter tires????? I have never heard of that before. If it is law you need to move or tell the government mandating this to be better prepared to provide you safer roads to travel on that's what you are paying taxes for. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I probably will :talkhand: , don't blame Chrysler for a decision you made. Dodge is not the only Crossover Mfg offering 19 inch wheels. The 19 inch rims, which are sharp, come automatically with AWD and R/T (FWD & AWD), like I said AWD sort of decreases the need for snow tires and in general FWD do not do bad in snow. Try this link http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...um=245VR9BZLM25 . These Bridgestone Tires (Blizzak LM-25) are $215/tire, so shop around options are out there and if you shop you can always find a better deal.
  13. I had smoke coming from the engine compartment and right front wheel well, horrible smell of burnt gear oil. No leak at first, but a leak did develop. My issue was a leaky front right axle seal. I only had 800 miles on my Journey when this cropped up. Gear oil was leaking on to engine block or exhaust. Dealer fixed no problem.
  14. My pics show 2 black foam plugs that were under the bracket. The license plate bracket is not just 2 screws.... I held it when they took it off - IT EXISTS. The body guy put the plugs in the screw holes for me, which I can paint if I want. I'll get an updated pic for ya.
  15. As in the other thread I can tell you this... Ohio code states that you MUST have a front license plate. My Journey was brought from Ohio to Pennsylvania (no such code/law in PA) and there was a license plate holder/bracket on it. They do exist! They asked me if I wanted it and I said no, so who knows where it is now.

  17. mjm48 you were on the money - Thank You!!! I just returned from the dealership and no annoying noise when making a left hand turn. I provided the document you referenced in your post and the service writer said "cool let me check that out". When the service writer called me from the waiting room he stated that some Journeys were being shipped with low power steering levels and getting air bubbles in the system causing the cavitation noise. Rather than going through the whole procedure listed, the technician pulled the lines and flushed the entire system the re-filled and pressurized to remove any pockets of air. Only 1.5 hrs for an oil change, tire rotation and power steering system flush. I have to say this problem has been present for a while but I was patient to wait for my first oil change to bring it up. So I guess you can call it a one call closure. Snowbird - I go to Kelly Chrysler Dodge & Jeep (Formerly Cutrone) in Coraopolis- right down the road from Robert Morris. I have had good luck there, give them a shot!
  18. THIS IS NOT GOOD!!! Let me give you an example of what happened to my wife and I. I have the child safety locks turned off, my kids are 12 & 13 and do not forsee them jumping out of the car. When you arrive at your destination place the car in park and turn off the ignition the two front doors unlock, but not the rear doors. IS THER AN OPTION TO TURN ON THE FEATURE OF ALL 4 DOORS UNLOCKING, TAIL GATE AS WELL? Getting back to the story. To unlock the back doors my kids have to grab the door lock post and unlock or I have to hit the unlock button either in the car or REMOTE, in this case I used the remote. I must have pushed the remote button TWICE and thus the windows came down as I was getting out. I know I didn't hold the button down long enough for the windows to come down all the way but they were all the way down. I walked away with the windows down. To my pleasure nothing happened. I am going to mess around and see if I can duplicate the issue. I used to work for an electronics manufaturing company and when they would manufacture a prototype monitor, with microprocessor and buttons, they would give to a select few of us and see if we could break it. We would mash the button in different sequences or all the buttons at once and see if it would malfunction, needless to say we were successful at disabling the devices a few times. This was good QC! Maybe I lucked out!
  19. Does anyone remember a rubber coating product that was sold to dip the handles of tools into? Anyway it was a can of liquid rubber that you could, in this case consider a Crescent Wrench, did the handle area into to give it a soft tactile feel. Dip it once = nice coat, dip it twice = thicker coat etc. I knew a guy who used to use it cover sharp edges, use your imagination, to elimate the "threat". I imagine if you could still find it at a tool store that you could use a small paint brush and CAREFULLY coat the pointy edge of the track. Increase number of coats to soften as needed, without interfering with the seats movement. There were multiple colors, such as black, which would make the most sense since the track is black. I have black capeting so if I make a small mistake it would blend in, watch out for the lighter colored interiors!
  20. 2 Things may possibly cause this. 1. Type of Wheel Dressing... I use things like Turtle Shell Tire Wax and Armorall (spelling) Paste, both are applied with a sponge vs. Spray on wheel dressing, which during application gets everywhere and even if you wipe of your rims you have left an oily sticky surface, which would hold dust more than a rim without. 2. I wonder if it could be the rims themselves... What I mean is the Chrome Clads vs. Aluminum. The Chrome Clad, from what I have read are actually a thick plastic cover mounted to a steel wheel. That being said plastic tends to generate more static electricity, which would hold dust better. That may be a reach but a car generates a great amount of static electricity when moving through the air. I have the 19" aluminum and my brake dust is minimal and I am very particular about how my wheels look. Wheels with dressing on them can make a car look 10 times better than ones without. What sort of shoots my theories down is the fact that my Ford Ranger (as stated in previous post) has the worst brake dust problem in the world. The rims are aluminum and I use the paste wheel dressing??? I am surprised the Environmental Protection Agency is not confiscating my truck it puts off so much brake dust. Oh well just 2 cents from a ranting lunatic. Wanna talk politics and religion...lol
  21. Yep - I received my update disc and updated it. Very simple process to complete. I was having issues where my radio would loose power all together (completely dead) and then miraculously come back on after a couple of hours. I hope this addresses that issue.
  22. My Journeys brake dust is not bad at all. I have a Ford Ranger and the brake dust it puts off is far worse. This is usually based on the brake mfg (ie. Bendix etc.). I do not know what brand my Ford garage used on my Ranger but they are horrible. This is the third set on the Ranger, so it is the brake mfg not Ford or in your case Dodge.
