  1. The transfer case failure also caused that strange odor that was entering the vehicle through the ventiltion system. See my post a few weeks ago.
  2. The Power Transfer Unit on my AWD Journey seized up from a seal failure and I had to have the Journey flatbedded to my dealer shop on May 26th because it was undriveable. Bought an "Added Care Plus " contract when I purchaed the vehicle. The dealer quoted me a $2600 price including labor if I did not have the contract, This is one case when buying those service contracts pays off in the long run. Had additional maintenance work done while the vehicle was there. Driving the vehicle home was like driving a new car. Mileage on the vehicle 61,000.
  3. Brought the Journey to my mechanic today....he replaced the cabin airfilter, checked brakes for a hung caliper, checked for leaks, rotated and balanced tires (which were a bit out of line due to the Long Island pothole epidemic). Brakes were fine ....still getting the smell..kind of like a butaine odor. Smell completely disapears when I set the setting to recycle interior air. He cannot figure out what is causing it. Suggested that I bring the vehicle to the dealer shop to see if they ever had this situation before, which I may do.
  4. I have a 2009 Dodge Journey with 60K on the odom. I've beginning to notice a tar like smell coming through the vent system. Mechanic tells me he did not notice any leaks or tar on the exhaust system. Had anyone had this problem before?. It began after I brought the car to a car wash...not sure if that has something to do with the smell. When I use the recycled setting, I do not have the odor. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    New Journey

Nice...I love the colour...when I bought my '09, I was looking for that colour but settled for the red. Eddie
  7. I recently received a letter from Chrysler regarding the brakes on my 2009 R/T. The letter indicated that if I put brakes on my Journey prior to 24,000, they would provide a refund less $50 deductable. I fit into that category, completed the form and I recieved a check in the mail from Chrysler for $244 which included the price for the front pads and rotors. Anyone else recieve this letter? I was amazed at the promt response plus a phone call from Chrysler. Ed
  8. I have my Journey R/T for a year now, and people still ask me in parking lots what kind of car is that! It happend to me today at my dealers place of business by another client bringing his vehicle in for service. Very few Journey's seen here on the roads of Long Island, NY.
  9. Hey Ken...good luck with your Journey...I have an '09 R/T Inferno Red....Just yesterday acouple asked me what kind of car am I driving...they loved the color. You don't seem to see many here on Long Island, so it is still turning heads after eight months of ownership. Eddie
  10. Just read Chrysler Corp five year business plan and the Journey will have a completly restyled interior and a "refreshed" exterior performed in the 4th quarter 2010. Here is a link to the plan: http://www.allpar.com/corporate/chrysler-g...CFQRM5QodL1TvqQ
  11. I have had my 2009 AWD R/T for four months now and I have been asked many times in parking lots or at stop lights "Hey Buddy...What kind of car is that"? I was thinking why are there so few Journeys on the road at least here on Long Island, NY. Perhaps its the economy or lack of consumer interest. I love my Journey and I just don't understand why I do not see more of them. Maybe it was due to the factory shutdown in Mexico over the summer months. I do get some head turns while driving my Journey around town becuse you just don't see many of them. Eddie from Long Island, NY
  12. I have the same Journey except it is red....same wheels....today someone was just staring at it in a local parking lot. Eddie---> 2009 Journey R/T AWD.

  14. They say that every question has an answer, but here is mine..dont't laugh guys...I took delivery of my new Inferno Red R/T AWD on Saturday June 6th and I was wondering how the heck to you release the drivers side floor mat from that little triangular rivet that holds it in place. I went to the owners manual on there is no mention of how to release the mat from that rivet. Any answer will be appreciated.

    2009 Red R/T

Thought of these posts last night as my two day old Journey was parked in the parking lot last night when thunderstorms rolled in with torrential rain. Check the vehicle for leaks in the morning and the interior and its sunroof was dry as a bone.
