Shifting into reverse cause rear wiper to operate!

Recommended Posts

What is the possible link?!? Recently my 2009 Journey started behaving weirdly. When I shift into reverse the rear wiper, although selected off, starts to operate. Once I shift back into drive it stops in whatever position it is in and stays there. If I then select it "on", it will move to the "park" position. If, while still in reverse I select it "on", it will stop at whatever position it's at, and when I shift into drive it will then function normally. Didn't know there was any link between a transmission selection and a rear wiper!!!

Well, at least you can see when you back up. Try disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery to perform a system reset. Are you getting any codes? You might want to try and retrieve any stored codes before you erase them, by disconnecting the battery.
