  1. Installed a new RH park brake cable but it is not fully releasing once applied. Lever on caliper is about 1/4" off stop. I can pull it back with my thumb with medium force but it won't return on it's own. I had also replaced the brake caliper and parts store thought it was the problem so replaced the part for me The new unit return spring does have more force but I still have the same problem. Tried routing change (not correct installation) to straighten cable into caliper connector and that partially helped but still not returning completely. Any ideas? Are stronger returns springs available? I also replaced LH cable but it works fine. Thanks.
  2. Pulled hatch inner trim panels off and located latch. Also discovered why courtesy light didn't work, it wasn't connected! When I disconnected the sensor wire the dash message went away so it is the sensor itself. Unfortunately the sensor is not replaceable by itself so I tried to find the latch assembly. Not available in local wreckers yards and dealer wants $283 + taxes! Guess it is going to stay disconnected until I find a used one!
  3. I did finally locate the "latched" sensor on the AlldataDIY website. It is at the latch assembly in the lift gate, but is separate from the electronic release solenoid. The cable must also run through the wire bundle I recently repaired so if the connection at the sensor is OK I'll likely have to pull the accordion boot off and check the wires again...arrrrrrrgh!
  4. Does anyone know where the sensor is for the rear hatch? I have a "gate" message on my dash display and can re-close hatch but message remains. Was wondering also if this was causing alarm to go off for no apparent reason? I recently repaired the wire bundle from the body to the hatch but had no issues for several weeks until now. Did not have this issue before repairs and everything was working correctly after the repairs, except for the courtesy light in the hatch which has never worked. (bought used)
  5. Not a Journey in these pics but the process, other than the ease of access, is the same. ABS 'Y' fitting and regular heater hose vs the $216 part my (Canadian) dealer quoted me. http://tearitupfixitrepeat.blogspot.ca/2012/08/08-dodge-grand-caravan-antifreeze.html Also see the Gates bulletin. https://www.gates.com/~/media/Files/Gates/Automotive/Resources/Tech%20Tips%20and%20TSBs/Chrysler%20Heater%20Hose_Y%20Connector.pdf
  6. Thanks folks. I do need to check codes anyways as i have an intermittent ABS light issue. I will check into the wire bundle at the hatch hinge line but will likely wait for it to warm up!
  7. What is the possible link?!? Recently my 2009 Journey started behaving weirdly. When I shift into reverse the rear wiper, although selected off, starts to operate. Once I shift back into drive it stops in whatever position it is in and stays there. If I then select it "on", it will move to the "park" position. If, while still in reverse I select it "on", it will stop at whatever position it's at, and when I shift into drive it will then function normally. Didn't know there was any link between a transmission selection and a rear wiper!!!
  8. I have a 3 zone climate control panel with manual control in my 2009 Journey. The backlighting on the dials works but the buttons are not lit. Is this any easy fix? If I have to replace the panel I was wondering if anyone knew if I could upgrade to the auto panel or are there remote temp sensors that would be missing? Thanks
  9. Just registered on this site. Had an '03 Grand Caravan ES that was written off after a guy ran a red light. Just replaced it with a '09 Journey SXT. Since it's used a already have few issues! Will be searching the site for more info. These are always a great source of information and a place where I try and answer what I can as well.
