J'sjourney
2020 Dodge Journey Dealer says I need brakes and pads. They quoted me a total price of nearly 1700.00 including labor. (Chicago area) Would you take your car to an independent shop or a nationally known shop like Mavis or Firestone? Thanks in advance.
jkeaton
I'd buy the parts from a local parts house and do it myself. Not that technically difficult to do. 2late4u

2late4u Posted yesterday at 12:47 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:47 AM (edited) just call around the local garages for a check and price for all 4 corners...To be honest you shouldn't need brakes all the way around for a 2020 journey ,of course we don't know how you drive and also the all important question of how many miles are on the journey...brakes on your journey should have lasted you at least 100 k unless they were abused by heavy stop and go driving..... quality brake pads for all 4 corners should be less than 200 plus 4 new rotors price can vary from 200-400 depending where you buy them from,,,check out Amazon for rotors and pads I only use anadarko pads....actually only the rear are a bit more trouble than the front since you have to rotate the caliper piston instead of compressing them like the front Edited yesterday at 12:49 AM by 2late4u

I will call or stop by some of the local shops. The car only has about 27,000 miles on it. More stop and go then highway driving. Chicago winters with the salt they put down could make then wear faster. Don't know. Not a mechanic.
