Hello guys I'm David I need some help here please!!! I'm working on a 2010 Dodge Journey AWD V6 3.5 L. It is my grandmother's vehicle her money is limited. I'm Haveing to replace her TRANSFER CASE. A used one is around $500 to $100. Now a 2011 Dodge Journey transfer case is $200 to $500. Can I put that transfer case out of a 2011 into a 2010? They look identical and going off of the chart I added here it's says it's same. Before I order this thing I need to know if it will work or not. So if anyone knows please help me out I'd be more than grateful and I know she would also THANK YOU!!

Auto wreckers have the ability to cross reverence what fits different years. I highly doubt they are inter changeable. Have you tried just removing the drive shaft and leaving vehicle as a two wheel drive. Might have a light on dash but usually vehicle runs fine.  With the 3.6 engine awd several people have switched to two wheel drive on this site.

And some say ask LKQ or other auto recycler. That is their business.

The 3.5 was also used in other FCA vehicles like the charger and 300 which also had awd. More were sold so might be easier to cross reverence that.

Ask a transmission shop. They often deal with this stuff. Might also suggest going 2 wheel drive for now.

Buenos dias, good morning in spanish, I was born during WWII and the 2010 is a great vehicle new, once the repairs start get rid of vehicle. I purchased a used 2010 for 2000+ and now comes the problems. The transfer case is stuck. In front wheel drive cars the mechanic must remove part of the engine, transmission to get to the transfer case. Online estimates are over 3000+ to replace transfer case. A used one is a gamble because the labor cost to R&R are exorbitant, a rebuilt case is 900+ and still a gamble, a new one will cost more than the car is worth. Also, the battery removal is a nightmare, you have to remove front tire, remove the cover, and the battery in hidden in a dark place and hard to get to. My 2010 wouldn't start so I removed the battery and charged it. Still no help, the mechanic came and in less than 5-10 minutes removed the battery parts and started the vehicle for $80. If you insist on the 2010 get a mexican mechanic to do the R&R for about $1100+ and hope the repair last. Buena suerte, good luck on your bad luck. Karl 6-4-25.
