‘14 Journey SXT 3.6L stuck in limp mode with blank transmission reading on dash

I was heading home the other night when I came to a stop at a stop sign. As I proceeded to turn left and head up a hill road, I heard a clunk sound, and my Journey started hitting high revs without going any faster (figured the dreaded limp mode). Also noticed that the reading for the transmission temperature was blank with the thermostat  ? being at its highest. Scanned the ODB2 and found two codes, (P0868 and P1745). Someone advised that I check and change the fluid, as there could be a clog in the line.

Proceeded to change the transmission fluid today. Found out that the fluid has never been changed (such a joy ?), as there was the original factory RTV seal, along with a small leak spot (that would explain the occasional smell when accelerating).  Changed the fluid out, not too bad for 158k miles, replaced the filter (it was full of gunk, so I’m guessing the error P0868 came from the blockage), and used new seal. Put new fluid in and measured after cycling through gears. Noticed that the trans temperature gauge was still blank with high thermostat, the codes were still coming up (cleared them with scanner), and the Journey was still in limp mode.

I read somewhere that if I disconnect the battery (the actual terminals) for a couple hours that it should do a hard reset and get out of limp mode and go back to normal. As for the transmission temperature gauge, how do I resolve that issue????

P.S. Currently half hour in for waiting on hard reset. Will post if it works for getting out of limp mode or not.
