  1. I started getting about 27mpg around town. It's now up to about 34. I havn't been on any long trips in it yet but so the best I got was just under 39mpg on a 20 mile run, and that was when the car was about a week old. I'm sure the mpg is better if you use the autostick around town, especially on roads with lots of speed bumps. It saves the gearbox changing up and down all the time. Just bung it in 3rd or 4th and ride over the lot of them! The only extras I put on it were scuff plates, splash guards and a stainless steel exhaust tail pipe trim from Halfords. (normally £27 but I paid £20 as it was the last ex display one). I also had the dealer put on 'chrome' number plate surrounds.
  2. I'm sure my Diesel R/T has got quieter. It's done 2500 miles, and the mpg is geting better too! Good to see another UK Journey exists! Not many of us about -how many looks do you get? Cheers
  3. I'm told the 2 sensors fitted to UK spec Journeys (not sure about other world cars) sometimes conflict with each other and therefore set the alarm off. I'm told the fix is to drop the headlining and add two more sensors and de-activate the sensors fitted by the factory. So in effect there will be four sensors in the headlining of which two will be connected. Apparantly the new sensors arn't Dodge ones but they are approved by Dodge and meet the current Thatcham alarm requirements here in the UK. My dealer told me they will ring when the sensors are in -it's 2 weeks now, but I'm not getting excited about it. I can wait. Cheers!
  4. We too upgraded from a 2000 Chrysler (as sold in the UK) Neon. Great little car with no problems for all the 8 years we had it. We just needed something bigger so got a Deep Water Blue R/T Diesel, and have been very happy with it.
  5. Kumho tyres are Korean. Having spent sometime to Dodge UK and Kumho UK I've had positive feedback and they are getting some of these 225/55/19 tyres into the UK warehouse. Out of interest what are people in the US paying for this size tyre? Here in the UK it was £153 +tax so I'd guess around $200?
  6. Are you on an sloape when you change out of reverse? Try taking the car out of hill start assist (found in Paersonal Settings on the EVIC) and see if it still does it. I found hillstart a bit annoying so switched it off. Cheers!
  7. I havn't noticed any smells since my first post three months ago. So all must be well!
  8. Thanks for that. Very helpful! Hope all goes well with the new Journey. Cheers!
  9. Sounds serious. What's a DPF? And are Diesel auto's affected? We've had out R/T Diesel Auto since March with no problems. Cheers! ***EDIT*** Stupid me. Diesel Particulate Filter. -As the title really! What does it do?
  10. I've been using the autostick quite alot recently. Here in the UK we're plagued with speed bumps everywhere you go, so in Auto mode the gearbox is constantly going up and down the gears. With autostick I can put it in 3rd or 4th and just ride over everything at a steady speed without the box changing all the while. Aslo having the diesel it has great torque so I can keep it in higher gear for longer and save on fuel. In standard auto mode I'm getting about 33mpg around town, using Autostick it seems to go up to about 37mpg, and on a longer run it's up to around 44mpg. The other thing I really like about it is the gears automatically drop down as you go around slow corners or come to a junction. So all I really have to do is manually go up the gears and let the car select a lower one as the speed drops. Very clever!! Cheers!
  11. I'm still waiting for a call to tell me to take the car in to have a flash upgrade to fix the problem. About a month ago I was told Chrysler was 'Very close' to having a fix. In the meantime it's still a matter of pressing the lock button 4 times until the car 'peeps' to say the sensors are disabled. Cheers!
  12. We had it since mid March, and still havn't done 2000 miles in it yet. What model is yours? SE, SXT, R/T? Cheers
  13. I'm one of the few in the UK! I'm in North Herts. Where are you? Cheers!
  14. I'd like to know too (as the other owner of a Journey here in the UK). Has anyone got any part numbers for the wheel, bracket, fixings adf the tyre size if it's a space saver. Cheers!
  15. My UK spec R/T Diesel Auto doesn't have them. But I do get the net that stretches across the rear of the load area. Cheers!
  16. I have an issue with these tyres here in the UK. No-one seems to stock or have a listing for them. They are 225/55/19 99H Kumho Solous KH16. I've tried looking on the net, going to a local tyre dealer, the main Dodge dealer where I bought the car and they are all comming back saying 'They don't exist'. I don't need a tyre right away but as there isn't a spare with the car -just a pump up device- I want to keep a full size spare wheel and tye in the garage to use if needed. I've ordered a new wheel which is £160.00 -quite a good price really as the dealer wanted over £300 for a Neon 15'' wheel a few years ago! I've now contacted UK Chrysler customer services to see what they can come up with. I don't want to be stuck off the road incase one of my tyres blows -or wears out! Cheers!
  17. I thought about getting the Dodge exhaust chrome tail pipe but dealers here want £46 for it ($80?). Also the description said 'Chrome' which says to me 'Rust in 3 months'. I was in a local auto spares shop and thay had a range of tail tips and the only one that would fit was the last one -so the guy sold it to me! It was meant to be £27 ($50?) but I got it for £20 as it didn't come with the throw away box. Bargain! Half the price and it's stainless steel so it ought to last for a while. It really finishes off the car. Here it is without... Cheers!
  18. We've had our 'truck' about a month now and it's got less than 700 miles on it. I'm surprised at the amount of brake dust I'm cleaning off the wheels -they need a clean after just about every 'journey!'. Our Neon seemed to stay cleaner for longer, but I'm very impressed with the stopping power on the Journey. I always expect to buy new brakes more often on an auto than a manual as your holding on them more. Cheers!
  19. Does anyone know if you can get one for the European 2.0 Diesel engine? Cheers!
  20. Yes, take it back to the dealer amd tell them it's 'Cosmetically unacceptable'. They should then change the grille for free. It's basically plated plastic but shouldn't flake. Cheers!

    chrysler bankrupt

It is a little worrying if Chrysler goes belly up, especially for us here in the UK where the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep group is fairly minor. Warranties is a concern as I don't believe Obama will support warranties outside of the US. Getting specific spare parts could be a problem but could be available to buy 'across the pond' which will be expensive. However, having a Journey with the VW 2.0 Diesel engine should mean that parts for it should be okay by matching up part numbers with a VW dealer. Here in the UK the Rover Group went bust about three years ago and yes the prices of the cars did go into freefall but there are still many rovers on the road. I guess that's because the service items are available from pattern part manufacturers and specific parts can be obtained from scrapyards. I hope the Fiat deal goes through.
  22. We've had our Journey for a week. My wife had been out in it this evening and when she pulled onto the driveway there was a burning smell comming from it. The smell seemed to be comming from underneath between the front and rear wheels. (ie not the engine/gearbox area). I had a look underneath with a torch but couldn't see anything wrong. I then took it for a 10 minute drive and pulled up and the smell was still there. By the time I got home (another 5 mins) the smell seemed to have gone. It smelt a bit like paint burning off an exhaust, but why has it taken a week? Today is the first time the underside had got wet due to rain. Could it have been moisture burning off the hot exhaust? Has anyone else noticed a burning smell shortly after picking up their new car? If so how long did it take to go? Cheers!
  23. We've had ours just a week now. Apart from the Alarm going off (tempory fix by switching of the interior sensors) we are very pleased with it. Dodge is still quite rare here in the UK. The Journey is the 4th Dodge to be sold here in right hand drive (the others are Caliber, Avenger and Nitro). We chose the Journey as it looks a bit different to other people movers. The only thing that is a bit annoying is the VW diesel engine is a bit clattery when cold but is fine once it's settled. I'll live with the noise though as I should be getting about 40 MPG. Cheers!
  24. I didn't get any spare tyre. All we get here on the R/T in the UK is a silly pump that has some sort of chemical in it to blow up the tyre and seal it. I imagine that even if it is a small punture the sealant will wreck the tyre -and God knows what a new one will cost. I believe the Mazda RX8's have the same system. Cheers!
