  1. My 2011 8.4 does this fine. The source soft key will allow me to toggle between sources. If I switch between BT and iPod it will even automatically pause my BT device. Of course, the iPod simply resumes at the beginning of the previous song played (as it always does). I am not sure if any differences in functionality exist between the 4.3 and 8.4. I would assume that a basic one such as source toggle would not differ. Maybe an update at the dealer will fix this for you? Peace.
  2. Thanks! I am due for a new phone under my contract. I think I will stay with my trusty old Motorola droid. Peace.
  3. I want to see the R/T stitching on the headrests. Wouldn't mind upgrading my 2011 to those. Peace.
  4. Got a Dynex iPod cable for use in my Journey. iPod connects perfectly with the white apple cable, but does not work with this aftermarket cable. The Dynex cable works for the computer, but not for connecting in my Journey. Weird. Anyway, just thought I'd pass that along. Peace.
  5. Chrysler has a long history of designing cars. They know exactly what they are doing. Financially strapped and on the brink of bankruptcy in recent years is not an ideal environment to work out all the engineering bugs on a new vehicle. Not making excuses for Dodge here, but at least I can understand. My Dakota has 215K miles on it and still going strong, so they have been doing something right. Anyway, that neither here nor there. . . This isn't a Dakota forum. Although I drove many cars in the buying process before purchasing my Journey, I likely would not have even considered the Journey if it wasn't for my experience with my Dakota. The 2011 Journey was simply the best vehicle. Better than the Equinox, Forester, Venza, CX7, Sportage, Murano, and Edge, IMO. Hoping my 2011 redesign is going to stand the test of time better than the '09 and '10 models. So far, no problems. I think someone in the new Chrysler finally gets it about quality if the recent vehicles are any indication. Mentality, now that's a different story. Chrysler, has always done things a bit differently than the other 2 Detroit factories. Sometimes its awesome, sometimes its a flop. Peace.
  6. Thanks. I figured as much. The target buyer is family haulers, not the average gear head willing to shell out tons of dough on exhaust systems, etc. I was just wondering about other's experience. I have no idea, but I suspect the exhaust is adequate and not overly restrictive anyway. Peace.
  7. Bought mine new in June 2011. About 8K miles so far. No problems whatsoever. Plenty of power, transmission is smooth, and mpg is 24-25 with nothing on the roof. Bike on the roof brings it down to 22mpg; surfboard to about 23mpg. Uconnect is a little funky at times, but overall it is great. Much faster than my friend's Ford system. Love the utility. Plenty of room for all my MTB and surf gear. In-floor bins work great for a wet wetsuit! I would be nice if more aftermarket and/or mopar mods were available for the Journey. I suppose the target buyer is the family hauler, but all drivers have performance on their minds, I believe. Simple things like CAI and exhaust mods can increase performance and mpg. Overall, I am happy with my Journey and would recommend the Journey to anyone. Peace.
  8. I too get about 24 mpg. I will avoid E85 fuel if I can due to the mileage difference.
  9. Has anyone installed an aftermarket exhaust system such as flowmaster or dynaflow? If so, did it do anything? Increase HP or MPG? I'm aware that Chrysler has a good idea of how to design a car and may have already designed the Journey's exhaust such that these systems only change sound and do markedly decrease backflow pressure. Just wondering. . . Peace.
  10. While I still stand by my previous comment. Mileage is incorrectly spelled as Milage. Just an observation as I was about to post there.
  11. My dealer in Albuquerque told me that my R/T was not equipped with DRLs and therefore could not be enabled. Hardware not there? Dunno. Disappointed. Dodge Cares, can you check into this if I send you my VIN in a PM?

Not sure what you need. These are black. I feel certain that they could be color matched and painted by a shop. Good luck. Peace.
  13. The songs starting over thing doesn't bother me at all. Kinda weird, but whatever. If I'm on short trips and I get sick of the current track, I manually forward it. Hadn't thought about audio books or podcasts. Doubt the computer is smart enough to know the difference between music and other content. Have you tried just pausing before turning off the vehicle? Maybe that would conserve your place? Dunno. Just a thought. Don't use audio books or any of that jazz. Peace.
  14. Yes, the cloth is great. The 2011 R/T trim came with cloth, so you are probably right that they are using up what they had. If you can get it, do so.
  15. I tried the yakima non-drilled racks on my R/T. Terrible. The clips only had about 1mm of grab under the doors; returned the clips immediately. I cannot recommend that anyone use those on their Journey. I got the permanent drilled roof rails installed and then installed the yakima racks onto those. I have been quite happy with the racks. I carry mountain bikes, surfboards, and even fabricated a cargo rack. Peace.
  16. **UPDATE** So today, everything is working fine; iPod plays nicely, cruise control is working perfect, and VR is working as it should. No idea what was going on yesterday. Anyone experience a short period of dysfunction like this? Anyway, not complaining, but it sure makes me feel like a problem is lurking. . . Peace.
  17. So my Uconnect screen did not go blank again, but now my Uconnect is acting up. My iPod had an error and would not play, then my cruise control didn't work, and finally my VR does not work. Not sure what's going on. . . Guess I need to go to the dealer.
  18. Hello- I was driving in town a few days ago when my screen just went blank. Not like I manually turned it off (which I often do), but blank like nothing showing. When I touched the screen, the "buttons" were still operational, I just couldn't see anything on the screen. Sound still worked. I stopped, killed the motor, restarted, and everything worked after that. Anyone experience this? Any ideas? Is this a symptom of a common problem for which there is a "flash"? Anyway. . . Seems fine now. Just wondering. Thanks. Peace.
  19. I carry my fob by itselt as I like to hang it from my belt loop and not think about it, so no bottle opener. Needless to say. . . I was having to get creative to open malt beverages. Problem solved! Works awesome. So freakin' handy. No more searching for my opener. :beerchug: Prost!
  20. Here's my experience with my 2011 R/T. 1. The tranny is programmed for fuel economy. The shifting takes some getting used to, but it will shift and give you power when you need it. I use the manual shift for passing when I know I need quick power, for example. 2. Dunno. 3. See the forum for threads relating to this. 4. I'm assuming your Journey is brand new. Mine improved in fuel economy after about 5,000 miles. I get around 24 mpg. I have really enjoyed mine. Drives nice, interior is super nice, and it offers much in the way of utility. I've been on two mountain bike trips, a surf trip, and camping already! Hope that helps. Peace.
  21. I can choose them in Uconnect, but they don't work. Dealer told me that my Journey is not equipped with DRLs at all. Seems like if its equipped with headlights, I should be able to activate DRLs, but that is not the case evidently.
  22. Took a photo of my Journey before the race. . . This trip threw everything except the kitchen sink at my Journey and it did very well. Hail, snow, two mountain passes, and driving an average of 80 mph with a bike on top; I still averaged 22.4 mpg over the length of the trip! Yay! Still wish I had DRLs, I did learn that the fog lights do not work with the headlights in the auto position unless the headlights are on. No big deal, I suppose. During the snow I used the parking lights and the fog lights together. Worked fine. I guess I'm just lazy, I had to turn my lights on. Not used to having to actually do anything except steer. . .
  23. On my Journey the measurement between the side rails is approximately 41.5 inches both front and back. Peace.
  24. Not sure what prompted your post; looks? MPG? or what? . . . but, I have the regular Yakima rail grabbers and original round bars on my Journey. Has worked well for me. Carries bikes and boards with ease. Yakima has all sorts of possibilities for rack accessories. As far as gas mileage, I have not noticed a significant difference. I get 24-25 mpg without anything on the roof. Bikes and cargo have a definite effect. I probably get about 22 mpg with a bike on the roof. One thing I have liked about the round bars is that Yakima sells just the round bar attachments making fabrication of all sorts of custom carriers possible. Made a very handy cargo rack for my Journey for less than $30.00 US. Peace.
