  1. Ange, I just re-read all of this and the base price they listed for you is nearly the base price for the R/T Model. Could they have ordered the wrong vehicle for you? I see they added the paint protector and such and that is a DEALER Added item which they make HUGE profits on.
  2. Not really much of an enthusist's car to be sure. Journey's seem to be great vehicles, but the performance manufacturer's are pretty much working on Cars like the new Camaro and Mustang more than they have interest in the Journey. I would think that Eibach might have a spring that may work already for these vehicles. Might not be optimized for the weight and performance needs though. As much as I like the performance I get from my other cars, I feel that the Journey might get a K&N Air Filter in the stock box, a full synthetic fluid change, and Ceramic brake pads and I'll be done with it. If the wife needs something else I'll look into it, but I doubt she will ask.
  3. Sounds like a pretty good price for these! Being we will have the Charcoal Leather interior, these will be nice to add in. My wife is going to be the main driver and she just does not watch it when she get's in and out of her car. I have the Weathertech branded one's in my Camaro and they do a GREAT job of protecting that car, but it si way overkill due to it never sees bad weather. The Journey will be the all-weather car and it's going to need these! Thanks for the post and the pics of these mats.
  4. Looks like a fair deal, and if you are happy about it and are happy with the service after the sale, so much the better. I worked our deal with Supplier pricing which was 2% under invoice, took the $1500 rebate and added the Military Retiree $500 bonus. I thought that was pretty good for a car we had to order. Now my Camaro I paid full MSRP for, and I don't regret that one bit either.
  5. This is one of the many reasons I like and BUY from Tirerack or at least look at their reviews and buy local if I can. I have found that most of the places I deal with, will give me the Tirerack price or sometimes do better on price. They like myself, would rather see the money stay locally, and so would I. Appalachian Journey is correct on the 19 and 20 inch size tires right now. Most will be Truckish or SUV style tires. Even for my New Camaro, I am limited on tire size to be sure, but that Car is stored during the harsh winters around these parts. I waited 35 years for that car, and intend to leave it to someone in my family when I pass away...
  6. I used the Dodge Customer Service Center Number which is 1-800-423-6343. The needed my VIN and my VON Numbers. The also had some OLD Info when we bought our last car so I also updated that information, Pretty cool deal. I just want to keep track of things.
  7. There are small bullet style resonators that might work. I know my Camaro had some on the stock exhaust. I know Magnaflow makes them too. Might want to take to a good exhaust shop and see what they think.... Chris
  8. Single exhaust V6 that split into duals are very difficult to tune for the right sound. Nearly impossible to get right. Are the back mufflers gone? These Ashcan mufflers do a very good job at muffling sound but their weight and lack of good tone really make the engine sound weak. To make a V6 sound good, a true dual exhaust needs to have an x-pipe or h-pipe between the two backs to help even the engine pulses. In the configuration the Journey has, I feel this is going to be nearly impossible to get a good exhaust note. That is not to say you can't get a better free flowing exhaust. It is just the sound quality might never be the best that it could be.
  9. The tires that come stock on the Journey are meant for comfort and all weather use. They are not really a performance tire at all. Going to Tirerack.com and looking their selection over for tires our size nets few notable tire selctions. Going to a 235/50R-19 size tire gives us a few more selections like the Dunlop SP Sport 7000 A/S or the Continental CrossContact UHP. I am sure that in a little while more will be available. I would lean towards the Dunlops after my tires get worn down. Chris
  10. Things seem to be progressing well. The dealer gave us our VIN and VON numbers the other day. They also called today and said that our Journey is scheduled to get built in June. I called the 1-800 number and they said that it is in build status and should be complete on the 8th of June. Not sure who is correct but it sure would be nice to have it by the end of June. Needless to say, my wife and I are very excited about this new vehicle.
  11. Darkening of the paint can be an issue with the Primer underneath. Seen this on a number of lighter color vehicles and white seems to be a big offender of this. Not sure if a dealer would repaint a used car or not. I think they might with a new car purchased through their dealership.
  12. I am a Parts Service/Commercial Sales Manager at AutoZone. I always check things out before I make a purchase. Right now there are Cabin Air and Air Cleaner filters with part numbers available. Your local store may not have the need for these yet and hence the reason they don't have them in stock. Some cars take a year or so to get these bits into the store system. I know my wife's 99 Oldsmobile was that way with Oil Filters and Cabin Air Filters also.
  13. I feel some of the same paranoia but I've stopped doing some of this and have talked to Journey owners themselves. Out of 10 local owners, I have not received any poor comments on the Dodge Journey. Just yesterday I talked with an owner that has well over 44,000 miles on his in less than a year. He has no real complaints and says it has been one of the best Company Cars He has ever had. None complained about braking issues, and some of the other bits and pieces have been taken care of via recalls, TSB's or warranty work to the customer satisfaction.
  14. I have looked at a few forums and the problems with the 2009 Journeys seem to be isolated to just those. Not seen too many folks specifically say they are having problems with the 2010's. I know when the PT Cruiser came out the first year model run had it's share of problems, but the later models seemed to be much better. I really hope this is the case also with the Dodge Journey. We just ordered ours last week and are in a hurry up and wait mode too.
  15. First, Thank you for your service. I hope your tour goes well and you are home soon. Have your wife check for TSB's and Recalls. I think most of your problems can be solved by going that route. (USAF/ANG E7 Retired)
  16. When we ordered our Journey a week ago I made sure the box for the Trailer Prep was "X" out because I wanted to have the extra insurance of properly cooled oil for the long term benefit of the vehicle. My wife and I keep our vehicles a long time (10 plus years on average). For the price of this package, I feel it is well worth it.
  17. Dang, Not sure what to make of this. Seems like a pad compound problem and possibly an underspec'd rotor. I wonder if this problem has been corrected with the 2010's? Anyone having issues with them on the 2010's? I work at AutoZone as a Parts Service Manager. There are numerous cars having brake issues but I've not heard or seen anyone with a Chrysler made Minivan complain or have concerns. Journeys are just not around here or are not popular around here. That is all good for me because I hate to have a car that everyone else has. I would consider going to Ceramic pads right from the start. I may do this with mine when it comes in. My 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee I just updated to new rotors and Ceramics on all four wheels and this Jeep has never stopped as well as this in 107k Miles. I've read some of the posts here and I wonder is 'some' of this is driver error or road conditions more than a poorly spec'd part. Any thoughts on this?
  18. Hey folks. Newb here. Wife and I have been trying to figure out what to replace her car with now for the last 4 years. Never settled on any one vehicle. Looked at Hyundais, Kia's Chevys.....Even a new Jeep. Stopped at a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer to look at a new Grand Cherokee Jeep. Could not believe how much they have gone up in price. Looked down the line at all the other cars they had and found the Journeys. Nice looking vehicle. The more we looked it over the better we liked it. Took a test drive in a SXT with 17 inchers. It was an okay drive but I wanted to see an RT. Only two RT's in the area and one was "SOLD" so we could not drive it. Went to another dealer and Test Drove a nearly fully loaded RT with AWD. Suspension was much better and the feel in the ride was better also. Went back to the first Dealer and talked with them on price and options. Decided on a 2010 Journey RT, FWD, Brilliant Black, Slate Leather, Family Seating and Flexible Seating, Sunroof, Trailer Prep. We are both pretty up on the purchase. It's our first ordered vehicle in 35 years of marriage so it's special to us. We love some of the features of this vehicle. Its NOT a Minivan, but has some of the neat stuff that new Minivans have. Wish us luck!
