  1. What a teaser pic! Great looking vehicle in the Brilliant Black. These shots do make me wish we had ordered ours with the Chrome Wheels and the Chrome Roof Rack also. Driving me nuts that our Journey is 90 miles away sitting in a holding yard waiting to be shipped to the dealer. If I KNEW where the yard was I'd got take a peak at it! Nice Shots!
  2. Nice Job on the Calipers! What Paint did you use? Was it a Spray Paint or Brush? Love the wheels, those would look nice on a Brilliant Black Journey too... I see you are using the C-Max Gold Pads from AutoZone. How are they working for you so far?
  3. Little update. Things seemed to get a little hazy the last few weeks. Went to the dealer today to find out what was going on. Found out the R/T has been shipped and is on a railcar in Ohio. It needs to get to Buffalo NY and then get trucked to our area. It could be here for the weekend, but I won't hold my breath. Stopped off at another dealer and saw another SXT Journey. As much as I like them, the R/T will work out better for us. If we had seen this vehicle first (SXT), we might not have ordered. So...keeping my fingers crossed. Chris Little Update....Can't sleep much. So much hoping to have this Journey for the weekend. Thinking about ordering some floormats for it today so I can have them covered ASAP. My Wife is taking this Journey for it's first Journey hopefully in a week or two. I have a full set of instructions for her on how to break it in. I hope she follows them!
  4. Bet you are having a problem with clearance and getting the piston back in. The Calipers are self adjusting on these cars and require a special tool to SCREW Back in the caliper piston. These tools can either be bought or be rented at AutoZone stores if you have one around. I am sure Napa, Pepboys and the rest also have the tool available for purchase. Make sure you clean the caliper off and put some lube on the piston so it screws back in smoothly. Many forget to do this step and wind up with problems later due to the caliper hanging up. Hope this helps...
  5. Thanks Bugs! Sounds like it is something I will be installing when ours gets in. I want it ready to go, just in case. I am pretty good with electrical wiring and installs, and I know my way around a soldering iron better than most so it should be a breeze. Thank you
  6. Bugs, Thanks for this information. Is the harness that comes with the Trailer Prep Option the one that you state that ties into the control module? I may NEVER tow, but for some reason I want this set up so that if I need too I can. Thanks, Chris
  7. Great information here! Any idea what these keyfobs go for? I think I'd like a third one just for safe keeping at the house....Just in case.
  8. Sounds like someone might have tapped your front bumper at sometime. I think it's time to make a really close inspection of the paint and see if that is what has happened. Seen it too many times where someone else misjudges their turn and smacks bumper to bumper. Could be some of the plastic "POP" rivets have busted or pulled out. These can be replaced pretty easy. I found the rivet gun and the rivets at NAPA Auto. Had this happen to my JEEP Grand Cherokee. Cost me about $35 to do it and that was with buying the rivet gun. Dealership wanted $250 to refasten the bumper cover.
  9. What is wrong with one with only from AutoZone? As long as it has the correct pin spacing it should work. There is also a professional grade one that works even better and has more positive engagement that you can basically rent for a set price, and then return getting your money back from AutoZone. Depending on how many brake jobs you do, renting the tool for free might be the better choice.
  10. I do wonder how much of these problems are due to improper torque. I bought a torque wrench many years ago because all of my vehicles had aluminum wheels. As a trained Aircraft Mechanic I know that tolerances need to be held and torque specs are there for a reason. Too many Mechanics in the automotive world try and beat the job to death by taking short cuts and one of them is using and air wrench to tighten things down. Too many variables come into play to make the torque on these lugs to be WAY off the mark. Only a good torque wrench and proper technique will get you to the proper torque.
  11. Nice Job on your Journey! Not really my taste, but I see the effort and the personalization in it and my hat is off to you. My only fault in the looks is that it makes the brakes look so puny. Have you dropped it at all? Seems like the tires and wheels really fill the space in nicely.
  12. One of the best sites still up and running that MIGHT help is: http://wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm This is a friends site and he's been very helpful in the past. Looks like this site has a lot of information on the My-Gig radios and while Jeep specific, should help in figuring out things for the REN radios in our Journey's. I hope this helps. Chris
  13. I am still waiting on our Journey R/T to arrive, and until I have it in hand I guess I won't really know which radio we will have in it. We are getting an R/T with the Convenience Group II and no other added Audio or video options. One time the dealer said it would have an RVZ Radio, and the next an REN Radio. Then I read someplace that there are TWO versions of some of these radios and that the REN is a mid year change. So I don't know. Part of me wants to be able to add a rear Video screen for those times when we travel with the grand kids. I hope that will be easy enough to do, Chris
  14. See, the problem is that my one batch of grand kids have NO RESPECT for their parents vehicles. They are trashed inside and out. My daughter knows better than this and I don't know why they allow it. I read the grand kids the riot act whenever they are in our cars. Keep the feet DOWN, take your trash WITH YOU, and leave it the way you found it. Other than the occasional foot mark on the back seat, they do listen and seem to mind me okay. In "MY" car they know they are getting a treat so they are very good for me. In Nana's car they get away with it a little cuz Nana is not much better than her daughter at keeping her car tidy. You'd think after 35 years of marriage I'd be over this.....LOL! Chris
  15. Great Gift! Can't wait to get ours! Welcome to the Forum and good luck with the new Journey. Chris
  16. Some of these outlets on SOME cars are switched in such a way that the vehicle has to be "ON" to have juice to these outlets. I have one car that works that way and it sucks to THINK you are charging something while you are n the store, only to come back and find it's deader than a door nail. I am just putting that out there to see if that is the case. The center console might be a disconnected lead to that recepticle. Not sure how you would check for that. I guess this goes on the check list for things to look at BEFORE I take delivery! Chris
  17. At least you own a product that is still being made. When Saturn shut down last year the prices stayed up okay, but I bailed out of my 08 Astra while it still had re-sale value left. The dealer gave me a great trade in towards my Camaro, and that care is keeping it's value VERY WELL. The dealer kept my car on the lot and had it from October till March of this year. They sold it for less than they gave me for trade in. That is how bad the values tanked on that car. I know buying new is not the ting to do, but I keep my cars for at least 9-10 years and I get a pretty good dollar for them when I sell them off used. I doubt I break even, but I think I save a little over the course of the years and I know my wife and I won't get stuck with an odd breakdown. Chris
  18. This has got to be one of the best write up in this entire forum. And Timely also! I've been looking into getting a small utility trailer so I can fetch Mulch, Dirt, Fertilizer and things that I don't want to put inside the new Journey when it comes. I also want it to look pretty much hidden from site when I am not using it. The Mopar hitch looks like it could be exactly what I need. Thanks for the information! Chris P.S. If these are the typical Plastic MOPAR rivets, you can get extras of these at most NAPA Auto Parts Stores along with the Rivet Gun for these. Drilling with a bit slightly larger than the center shaft of the pop rivet will take the head off. You then push the back side out and you are free. Did this with the install of the foglights on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and bought the extra rivets and the rivet gun back then.
  19. LOL! TRUE, but still won't stop them from trying to mess with it! Kids will be kids!
  20. I know the R/T we test drove had the Climate control ZONES adjust from the Dash area. This was the for the Automatic Climate controls and had three round knobs. One for the driver side, one for the passenger side and one for the rear. I don't want the grand kids messing with stuff behind me so I prefer to have it that way, the few knobs back there the less damage that could happen. I guess I'll get what I get! LOL!

    2011 Journey

Not seen anything yet. One thing I thought I heard is that the Pentastar V6 will be available for this Journey. That one item makes me wish I would have waited a few more months, but I've read some horrible things about the ramp up in production of these engines that makes me think it will be at least another year before this happens. The New Jeep Grand Cherokee gets this engine first and depending on demand, it may put a crimp in when they install it in the Journey. Looked around for pics today and could not find any. Can't even place an order for a 2011 Journey until November.
  22. Ange, I'm in Rochester NY. This waiting game is the PITS! LOL! I guess I am one of those instant gratification guys. I know the wait is going to be worth it, but I've been second guessing some of our option selections. Sometimes I feel that we should have gotten the AWD version, but we've never really needed AWD even in the heavy snows around here. Thought about some of the Video options, but we only travel 2 up for the most part. I gotta call and see if it got on the train yesterday......
  23. Ange, Good News! Glad you are enjoying it. How long did it take to get the Journey Shipped to you after it was built? I am trying to get a feel for how much longer MY wait is going to be..... SHip date was supposed to be yesterday, might be delayed a day or two they told me. Chris
  24. I recently changed all corners of my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee to AutoZone Duralast C-Max Gold Ceramics and I am very pleased with their performance. Dust on the front wheels is almost NIL. These pad came with the hardware kit and the grease needed to do the job. AutoZone stands by the warrantee on these things and it should be the last time I ever buy pads for that car. Their warrantee means LIFETIME, Buy Once, and that's it. Very good value when you factor that in. I am not sure who makes these for them, but I know it is a name brand part and I have had very good luck with their other pads, I expect nothing less from these. Chris
  25. I "think" my Journey has a different radio system in it. The dealer and I are both confused with what it will and won't have. There has been a running mid-year change to what is included in the R/T model. Looks like yours has the NAV option and that may be part of the issue. No NAV in mine so we will see. A couple of sites that might help you: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm mofv.com/mygig/ The later seems to be down right now, but has a host of information. Hope this helps.
