  1. I am going to look into these. We take at least 2-3 trips a year and these would have been. nice to have when putting stuff on the roof. We got some nylon car carrier to go on the roof and it was just sad. It said it was for the Journey but the straps were all types of jacked up, didn't even come close to what we expected.

I'm gonna check on the wife's new ride and see if it has these, if not I'll look into getting some for her as well.

  2. Congrats on the new shiny ride. Going to get mine detailed in a couple of weeks, then just start doing it myself. Still trying to find decent supplies. I have never been one to really detail, or even go beyond just a wash and dry. I figured with this one I'd at least try to make an attempt. I have never really been a "car" guy, I just used cars like any other tool, make sure they were well maintained and they should run. Didn't abuse them, but did n't go out of my way to keep 'em "shiny and fresh". Time to make a change I guess. This vehicle has already got me looking at rims, fog lights, upgrading the radio/nav, and even tint on the front windows.

That is going to be tough then. You can buy all the parts you would need. Bezels, fog light housings, switch, etc. and maybe install them yourself, but like a lot of things, the dealer may have to enable them. Check on ebay. I've never seen an OEM "kit" that has everything factory in it. There are aftermarket kits but require a separate switch and wiring. You would have to check your warranty conditions to see what would impact the warranty.

Thanks. I may have to go the dealer route if I want it done then. I am used to doing it on cars that are out of warranty so it was no problem to "add" a hole where needed. You folks are great at getting an answer. I hope I can answer someones question as quick and complete some day.

  4. LOL!!! Thanks jkeaton. I guess I wasn't very clear, forgive me. I meant this would be a DIY job. I know it's a 2014 but I really like the Journey, it has served us well since buying. Just got the wife one of her dream cars and I got the Journey and my 3rd oldest, going off to college, got my car. I am toying with the idea of doing a few things to the Journey and want to do as much as i can myself, but I also don't want to void the warranty.

Hi KM! Welcome to the forums! From what I've read they do seem to be more trouble than they are worth. I may have read incorrectly but I read there's a lot of electrical hurdles when changing to the 8.4 stereo. Given all of the electronics involved it would be smartest to get an estimate from the dealer first. The head unit itself is roughly $1300.00. If you can live without it, that's something I would skip. The foglight addition probably would be a lot easier, and I have seen a ton of kits on amazon and eBay, all of them look pretty simple to install.

Yeah, I agree, it does have a lot of hurdles involved. I know the dealer route is probably the safest but I am just so friggin cheap when it comes to putting money into anything other than my hobbies that the $1300 plus labor sounds like it not happening. The fog lights definitely sound more doable for me, heck once I look into it a little more it may be something I could do myself.

  6. Hello everyone. Just took over a 2014 Journey SE from the wife. She wanted to move on to something else so i got the Dodge. I have just been looking for as much info as possible on the Journey. Not really sure what I want to do if anything, but it's nice to know your options. Well, I would like to upgrade the radio from the 4.3 to the 8.4 and put fog lights in, but both seem to be more trouble than they are worth, maybe I am reading wrong, who knows....

I will say, looking around online at different vendors, just a few recognize the SE with the V6, almost all default to the 4 cyl and you cannot change it. Most times I just pick a model with the V6 and move along, but it is a little irritating to see that be the norm rather than the exception.
