  1. Just do it yourself for around $25-30

Journey is the easiest vehicle i have ever done an oil change on. Filter at front straight up and down, dont even need a jack, just a single wrench for the drain pan. If filter was installed correctly and not over tightened it will come off by hand. takes 10 minutes to change oil.

  2. lol that was supposed to be on another thread, i had two tabs open and thought i was on the other one.

and also i meant around $30. 25 for oil and a few bucks for filter.

this was supposed to be a response to someone that had paid a dealer $140 for an oil change

  3. I would put what the manufacture recommends, they built the engine and know what it needs to be healthy. Octane is resistance to detonation. Higher compression needs higher octane because when you slam all the air and fuel into a smaller space (higher compression) it results in hotter temperatures. Gasoline will self detonate when it reaches a certain temperature based on the octane rating. If octane is too low you risk detonating and causing engine damage. So i would put 87 or 88 depenging on what you get where you live.

Where i live the pumps have 86, 88, and 90 or 91. so since 86 is lower than required i use the 88, no reason to go any higher as it will have zero effects on mpg or performance unless tuned for it. But definitely dont want to go lower than 87.

  4. i guess no one understands how the thermostat works lol. if its stuck open or removed, the engine will never overheat. on a hot day once operating temp is reached the thermostat will not close again until the engine is shut off. if its during winter the thermostat may close while driving due to so much cold air on the radiator.
also once the coolant passes through the radiator there is a significant drop in temp as it passes through especially with the cooling fans on.

Changing the thermostat to a lower opening temp will be fine, usually around 180 is good. The entire purpose of the thermostat is for quick warm up to operating temp and that is it, nothing more.
