How's it going y'all? I'm looking to add tint to my tail lights but I'm having some trouble as to which method (film or spray)

The lights on the lift gate are nice & flat but the tail lights on the car itself have a nice curve to them. My question is, has anyone had success using film to tint the tail lights? If so how we're you able to get the film to lay over the tail lights, especially over the curve? I myself am a bit hesitant to use any kind of spray, I don't want to chance inconsistent coats.

Spray can be trickey and hard to get a perfect shade consistency and irreversible . Film is also tricky to work with for a first timer but shade is consistent and it’s removable in case you get in trouble with law enforcement. I recommend finding a local shop to tint those usually charge about 50-70 dollars per taillights.

  2. So basically you want to do a custom exhaust like this? I did this when I first got it. Sounds nice start up and take off. As far as actual hp gains I cannot confirm but the wife and I like it so that’s good enough for me. Mufflers 30 each and labor was $50 total custom cost $120. Good luck in what you are looking for I provide pics of my set up. 4 inch slant burnt tip mufflers don’t remember the brand sorry.

Okay so I have been thinking about doing this mod as well. Over on the Avenger forum there is an old post where they built their own version of this and one option is cheaper. I have ordered all the parts to do this so im hoping to see some gains. The members have tested it and they seem to have some noticeable gains in the MPG department. Here is this link to the old thread.

Nice but reading that forum he spent 200 dollars to make it????? Why not just buy it from rpmmotorsports for 200 dollars in that case. Anyways I stand by my statements no gains besides noise but very aesthetically pleasing. Good luck on your mod.

I have ordered one of these intake resonator delete tubes for myself from RPM Motorsports to found out if there really is any type of gain considering some folks say there is a gain. I will be doing a MPG comparision before and after to see what the difference might be.  Worse case I will sell it to the nest guy who owns a Journey! LOL

Like I mentioned before no gains besides noise so hope you don’t mind loosing the 200 dollars like I did. My intake resonator is still on though looks good under the hood.

Dude, that is cool!!! I wish i could do that to mine, but being in California we have very strict smog laws and I think removing the muffler isn't even an option.

    Sounds great...good job.

I live in California you can remove anything you want as long as your catalytic convertors are left in place hence the name catback exhaust systems. So if you want a straight pipe after your catalytic convertor its fine smog will pass besides you'll know its legal because no licensed shop will remove your catalytic convertor since it is illegal for them to do so if they arn't replacing them.

  6. I’m confused so your heater hose failed and I’m assuming you kept driving your vehicle causing it to overheat and warp the block? I’m not being mean but this goes for anybody as soon as your car is overheating pull off and turn off your car. It’s not your fault that the part prematurely failed, but since you continued to drive it overheating it the manufacturer sees this as your fault.

Was the problem solved with the starter replaced? I have a 09 Journey SXT and I am facing the same issue. The dealer is asking $150 just to check the car.

If you think it's the starter I would remove it test it at your local auto parts store if it's in working condition. Then I would probably proceed to the dealer just depends how mechanically inclined you are. But I would read the more on this forum many claim it's a sensor issue for the 2009 Journey not starting up. For example, something like putting the car on neutral then being able to start it up I think I read(2009 Journey year.)

We have been dealing with this no start issue since new. The problem is it doesn't do it all the time. I do my own work on everything but their no start problem. If you read about the 2009 Journey everybody has the same issues. And nobody has the fix. Wish we could buy a different car but kid in college has made that impossible lol.

Well just didn't research on your issue and the fix "When your car will not start, turn it on, push your break in, and put the gear in neutral. Once it is in neutral, start your car. This should allow your car to start. If it starts, then you know that the problem is for sure the neutral safety switch. The neutral safety switch is not a very expense part.Anywhere around 20-60 Dollars. In most models, they have the neutral safety switch in the transmission."

  9. That's just unreal , but in your shoes I would take it to an independent shop. It's just odd that they cannot detect the problem in my Journey the no start issue it was a dead premature fail fuel pump. Yes it was expensive to replace would of done it myself, but couldn't because I didn't have the space/authority to do so at my old place.

so in my new search ive found ZERO air intakes for the journey's?  this kinda sucks really.  unless im missing something someone else knows??  really several aftermarket headlight housings but ZERO cold air intakes

There are intakes that will delete both restrictive resonators on the Journey. RPM-Motorsports in Arizona provides them. I purchased one in my opinion it wasn't worth the price I bought it for 200 dollars I did notice the throttle response was on point other than that more noise and mpg was the same. If they were to change its price to 80-100 dollars then I would think it's worth it. Installation wasn't bad but top plenum must be removed for RPM motorsports resonator intake delete to be installed properly.

    Hi I have a 2011 Dodge Journey 3.6L.

I tried installing a backup camera triggered to the reverse lights but it doesn't work. Checking the voltage at no load (Camera and Reverse light Disconnected) I get about ~12.3 V. However when adding the Camera only the voltage drops to ~11.8 V. Adding the reverse light back to the picture, voltage drops again. Reverse light still works but backup camera doesn't work.

I use to have a 2009 Dodge Journey and I've installed a backup camera before and had no issues.

I could add a relay and tap into some other power but I need to know what else I can tap into nearby. Not sure why I'm getting a low voltage reading, can anyone chime in?

Assuming you have the 8.4 U-connect and are trying to use that screen you have to get it activated from the dealer so give them a call depending where you live they will charge you one hour labor service even though its a 10-15 min activation process.

I am trying to change my #5 coil and spark plug on my 2012 dodge journey v6 and I don't know which one it is... I am facing the engine and see all 6 spark plugs.... Can anyone tell me which one is my admission miss fire coil #5 PLEASE....

To test a bad coil I would switch that 5th back one with another and see if the misfire moves to another cylinder. Check the spark plug too but if you are changing the spark plugs why not change all of them.

you made it sound hard and expensive to remove the emblems... i used bumper sticker remover from autozone and just sprayed it on and let it set a minute then used my fingernail to lift the edge of the emblem and then sprayed a little more of the spray and slowly removed the emblem then wiped it clean ..done ...easy peasy  no heat gun no fishing wire no decal eraser or power drill

I should of made a video my method took mins what your describing I have experience doing that on my g35 was not fun and took for ever. That is why made this post to let others know the easiest most effective method. For example if you have side moldings you would not want to use your finger nails or bumper sticker remover that would take forever.
