I used 3 clay bars on journey after a crosscounrty trip to make sure I got everything off and it came out pretty spiffy. My arms were killing me the next day after all the workout but it was worth the effort. The trick is to have your significant other or one of your kids spray the car as you run the bar through the entire car so that the solution doesn't dry on you. Then both of you can rinse off the residue and dry the car so its nice and clean with no streaks before you wax and buff it.

Decided that having the same Journey as everyone else wasn't for me. Worked with a graphic designer and came up with the custom designed and unique graphic for my 2012 Journey R/T. My neighbour owns a tint shop so he did the installation and also tinted all seven windows. Added 30% to the factory tinted rear windows and 50% to the front windows to avoid attracting attention from the local police. Overall I really like how this looks and I love that it's one of a kind!

I use the Mother's California Gold 3 step system. Basically, bottle 1 is a cleaner wax, bottle 2 is a sealer and polish, and bottle 3 is pure carnuba wax. It's a fair bit of work since you basically have to wax the car 3 times, but worth it.
Just did it today and this is the result:

I'm actually changing the color of the insert in a couple of weeks and trying to convince the wife to add an LED bar on it...

The Journey is a great vehicle to drive cross country, have gone from San Diego to Texas three times and from San Diego to Idaho about 4 times with no problems at all. will post some pics later on.

To remove any type of "lamp shades" you can use acetone with a cotton make up applicator pad and it will remove the paint and will not scratch the pastic. After you're done, just rinse the palstic with soapy water and you're done.
    ******* Update *******
Here's a picture of mine after being cleaned with acetone and alcohol, no damage to the plastic at all and its still very shiny.

You don't need to sand your tail lights if you're using niteshade, all you need to do is thoroughly clean it with alcohol. After it dries apply one thin coat on the tail light and let it get tacky (takes about 3 mins) then spray two more coats 5 - 10 minutes apart depending on the humidity and it should be good to go. Niteshade will last up to two years on your lights even if you pass your car through the automatic carwash once a week. If you get stopped by the police and they ask you to remove it, you can easily remove niteshade with coton and finger nail polish remover without scratching your tail lights.
