Someone help! I have a 2015 Journey with the basic 4.3 radio. No satellite, no anything. I hate not having a satellite radio. I asked two dealers and they tell me all I can do is get a plug and play satellite. That it's impossible for them to put in the version with satellite capabilities. Does this seam accurate?

Right, obviously I need a satellite tuner and antenae. What they're telling me is that getting the 4.3s is impossible. When I responded and tried to clarify what I wanted they won't even answer me anymore. That all I can do is plug and play. Does anyone who's had the 4.3 and taken it out know what's in the back? Is there a port back there for satellite? I would think it would be the exact same radio, just without the satellite accessories.

I believe you are correct. It is very easy to get the dash apart, take a look.

Go to oemautopartsco.com. Call them. They specialize in Mopar replacement radios. Most of what they sell are Dealer take-outs. If there are scratches in the screen, they replace the screen. All radios are bench tested. I have purchased 3 radios from them. Great people to do business.

You should only require the appropriate radio module and the replacement antenna and POSSIBLY the cable for it.

The radio itself is a 5 minute job to replace. The antenna ought to be simple as well.

Whether you need the cable or not? I'd check the parts fiche for your model to see if the cable assembly is different or not to be certain. The radio type for the 4.3 inch display that includes the SiriusXM receiver is the REB. You can use the appropriate radio from a Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger or a Journey.

Radios are cheap on eBay ($105-$200 at this time). Antennas and cables? I haven't looked in great detail, but this page may help with the antenna bits: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=562339&ukey_product=4298319

Now, if you wanted to move to the 8.4 inch display? That would be a major undertaking.

The 4.3s has the Sirius receiver built into it. If you have 2 antenna wires behind your present radio, and one isn't being used, it would be the one for Sirius. Otherwise, you would need an external antenna.

Ok, so I'm bringing this up again because I've found a radio on EBay. It's the 4.3s radio with the touch screen. So all I would have to do is pull mine out and put this one in right? Then I'm all set for satellite? Does it make a difference that mine is a 2015 and the one I found is from a 2014? Would I need anything else?

No. You will need a Sirius antenna. Since the base of the AM/FM antenna is the Sirius antenna, it is possible that there is a Sirius antenna cable behind your 4.3. There will be two antennas that you need to plug into the back of the radio: one for AM/FM and one for Sirius. If there is not an unused antenna cable behind your radio, you will have to buy one: or, rip out your headliner to run the cable back to the antenna. And, it is possible that your base may not even be a Sirius antenna.

Ok, last dumb question. The seller has contacted me and said the listing is just for the receiver and not for the screen. Is the screen specific to the receiver? Or would the new receiver give me satellite to the screen I already have? I love my car but this radio is shit. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a mom trying to get satellite and not have it cost me a grand. Having an external satellite radio isn't an option because I think it looks like junk.

The screen is independent from the radio, so all you really need is the appropriate radio module . . . and a subscription, once you get the radio and it's associated antenna connected.

While I don't think the do, the latest model radios *might* need an unlock code, which is defined by your vehicle's VIN and the serial number of the radio module - you won't know until you get it installed, at which point it might ask for the code. If one is required your dealer ought to be able to provide one for free if he's any good, failing which there are other no charge resources available.
