New battery, new starter, still not starting

Recommended Posts

I have a 2016 journey crossroad that I have recently changed the batter and then the starter. I'm having issues with the vehicle starting. I have only had 1 instance where it wouldn't start but in most cases it hesitates like it just won't turn over. Any ideas on what to check next? I am not getting a check engine light to read for codes.

Its possible you didn't get the battery post tight when installing it.......that said what was the first problem you had before you started changing parts..... the battery? the starter? also possible bad connection at the starter and also bad contact at the grounds as well..make sure the connectors for each are still okay and not broken... we had one person asking questions about their journey not starting and when we said check the connections they said oh no they were good after a while they came back and said ya the battery connector was loose

I will check all the connections. We seem to have the same issue from the start. The sound and trouble starting doesn't seem to have changed. Started with a battery check, it showed bad when tested at autozone, so we replaced it. Couple days later had the same issue, so ordered and replaced the starter. I will say that it isn't every start that struggles but most of them, maybe 80% of the time. When it struggles if we turn the key off and try to restart it starts right away, almost without fail. Have never needed to jump it, it always manages to start on its own after a try or 2

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's actually my sister's car and I haven't seen her in over a week so I haven't been able to look the vehicle over yet. I will as soon as she stops by and I will provide an update. Just didn't want anyone to think I have been ignoring them.
