Caliper issue.

Recommended Posts

In June 2021 (passenger front) my caliper locked, we replaced everything. Then two months later it did it again. We replaced it again thinking bad part. Then few weeks later it locked again. So we got our brake fluid flushed. And are replacing the hose, caliper and everything again. Will this fix my issue? Why is this happening? I have a 2010 with 158xxx. This is our only car however she is starting to annoy me with this issue. Every time the caliper locks you can smell it and sometimes will smoke.

Most replacement calipers are remanufactured parts. Quality can very quite a bit as you are finding out.  If you spend more money you can get a brand new not reman unit. I had to add stronger springs on my reman rear calipers installed last year; wouldn’t return properly.

I had my rear calipers seize because I didn't grease the slide-bolts. (The ones covered by the small rubber boot).
I assumed the grease from the previous install was adequate. I was super wrong. when I replaced the part I put adequate amounts of Lithium grease on every part. No issues all the way to the end.
