EVAP Leak

Hey Everyone,

I have check engine light on in my 2015 Journey Crossroad but the vehicle runs perfectly fine. Took it to Autozone to get a free code read out and it came back as an EVAP Leak.

I had the same issue a year ago and took it to the dealer and they investigated and ended up replacing the gas cap..... fixed problem but now seems to be back. It was under warranty at the time.

My question is.... if I were to replace the cap again, or fixed the problem in some way would the check engine light go off automatically or does it need to be 'reset' by a dealer?

I just dont want to take it into a shop and have $$$$$ of diagnostic fees poured into this vehicle only to have it be a cap that I can easily fix myself. But I won't know if what I did will work if the light needs to be reset by the dealer.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Matt
