2009 SXT, 3.5, built 07/30/08. Purchased 02/14/09. Driven mostly on weekends, by a little old lady. Has 18,388 miles on the clock and 12 oil changes. Averages less than 1,000 miles between changes. Lifetime powertrain warranty requires following the maintenance schedule which specifies 6,000 miles or 6 months. Oil coming out looks just like it did when it went in.

Just curious. You haven't mentioned having problems with any of the other functions controlled by the door ajar switch. If the radio turns off (with key out of the ignition) and the interior lights illuminate when the door is opened, the door ajar switch must be operational.

The connector for the latch is in a difficult area to access. Almost everything in the door is attached to a single module. There is a hinged door on the module, forward of the latch, that has to be opened. The connector has a secondary locking feature that is a clip that has to be slid back in order for the release to work. Although I seem to remember that someone said that they replaced the latch without removing anything else, I had to follow the Service Manual procedures and remove the module assembly, which included removing the window.

Not sure if it applies in your situation, but my wife's 2009 was doing something similar. In addition to the problem that you describe, the radio wasn't turning off and the dome light wasn't coming on, when the driver's door was opened. I traced the problem to the driver's door ajar switch, which is located in the door latch assembly. I'm not sure, but assuming that the "computer" was not getting the signal that the driver's door was unlocked and wouldn't unlock the others. The rear hatch was also affected. Replacing the driver's door latch assembly corrected the problems. Part number 4589693AD. I paid $83 from a Chrysler Dealer on Ebay.

I am a big fan of Amazon, but I did go to Ebay to order some electrical connectors from China. Order placed Oct 25th, shipped 26th. Order arrived Miami, 30 miles from me, Nov 1st. Still waiting.

Those are Purolator filters. Just before changing the oil in my wife's '09 Journey, I happened to be on Purolator's website researching for another vehicle. I noticed that the recommended filter for her Journey had been changed to a different number. The original number, PL12222 was replaced by PL24651. The specs indicated that the thread sizes were the same and when I compared them in the store, the seals appeared to be close in size. I purchased both as I can use the smaller PL12222 in my truck. The seals measured within .040" of each other (inner and out diameters) and there was plenty of clearance from the oil pan to accommodate the larger diameter. The Purolator specs indicate a slightly different relief valve setting, but I don't think it will cause any problems. So, to make a long story even longer, the one on the left is PL24651 and the other is PL12222. Even my wife told me "bigger is better"!!!

I am pretty sure that it is the vapor canister for the fuel system. It is located in the Parts Manual, under Group-25, Emission Controls.

What you are saying is that the key (fob) that you use to start the car does not have any remote buttons on it? Where is the "square looking hole" located on the back hatch? If the key (fob) that you have will fit that hole and unlock the hatch, you don't have the keyless entry option. I'm not familiar with the configuration of a Journey without keyless entry (didn't think they were sold that way), but if yours does have the "Keyless Entry" option, you won't have any external unlock capability on the hatch. Is it possible that you are looking at the rear window spray nozzle that is located on the hatch, just to the left of the third brake light? It would probably be a good idea to go to the Dealer, show them that you have the keyless entry option and get them to explain to you why they say you don't.

Canada-Recall-K07 Front Door Wiring Harness. Covers 2009 Dodge Journeys built from Nov 01, 2007 through Nov 07, 2008. VIN range 3D4GG57D79T109123 - 3D4GH67V39T572601. Although my wife's Journey is included in the recall, I chose to accomplish the recall requirements myself when she complained that the radio wasn't turning off when the door was opened. I have a subscription to Alldata so the information was easy to come by. It took me about an hour to replace the wiring harness in each door. I ordered the kit from an online Dealer for $46.95 delivered.

I am particularly impressed with the coverage. For the engine, it covers the water pump, timing belt and serpentine belt tensioner, along with all other internal components. The coverage for the Front Wheel Drive includes the axle shaft assemblies, constant velocity joints and boots. These are some of the more potential trouble areas for vehicles.

Just returned from a very pleasant visit to the local Dodge Dealer for the first five year warranty inspection. Haven't been back to this Dealer since the Journey was purchased there on Feb 14, 2009. This is the first vehicle that we have owned that came with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, so I wasn't quite sure how to handle it. I have maintained it according to the Maintenance Schedule and kept all of the receipts for oil filters, oil, air filters and coolant. When I presented them to the Service Adviser he politely told me that they were not required! Cool! He asked me if I needed an oil change and I told him that I had just changed it in December. No problem! He then told me that the vehicle had an open Recall for the door wiring harness. I told him that I had already done the Recall (K07) myself, in November. He didn't even question me about that!! An hour later and I was out the door with the required inspection complete. No charge for the inspection and no pressure to add work. This Dealer, Spitzer Autoworld is not one of the many Dealer chains that occupy this area and constantly bombard you with loud ridiculous commercials. They were here when I arrived here 38 years ago and I think they are part of a family of like named Dealerships, mostly located in the midwest. I will, of course, continue to follow the Maintenance Schedule in the book. Six month oil changes seem like a bit excessive, but my wife doesn't drive the Journey that much, so it is probably for the best. Got 750 miles on the last oil!!

The location of the battery was the reason that I did a "preemptive" replacement on my wife's 2009. Build date was July 2008, so battery age was pushing 6 years. There was no indication of problems with the battery, but I have no intentions of having to change that, in the pouring rain, in a Target parking lot. I'm not sure if I'm "old school", but the "old" part certainly fits.

Purchased our 2009 SXT from the Dealer's lot in February 2009. Build date is July 2008, so it had to have been there a while and probably why we got such a good deal.. I usually like to order my vehicles, bit the wife doesn't care much about options. If the vehicle has A/C and a radio, she is good to go. The only problem has been the driver's door wiring. Just finished the five year coolant flush today. Brakes have been fine.

Yes on the cleanliness, but I'm not responsible for that. My wife is a bit anal and washes it frequently and keeps the interior spotless. No food/drinks allowed, except water and that has to be in a bottle! The Grandkids won't ride with her unless it is absolutely necessary!! Ah yes, the weather. While it is never COLD here, the turmoil up north has finally reached us and the temperature only reached 58°F today. Supposed to be back up to 74° tomorrow though. I was raised in New Hampshire and that experience convinced me to settle here.

Thanks for the welcome. Some would think it was not worthwhile to own a vehicle and not use it much. My wife basically just uses it for shopping on the weekends and it pretty much sits in the carport during the week. I am the one in the family that insists on having two vehicles. I want a vehicle available to me 24/7 and I refuse to go to shopping with her. One good thing is that if either vehicle breaks down, the other is available.

Thanks. I hesitate to use the term "Love" in regard to an inanimate object, but we both like the Journey very much. She likes it for what it is and what is does. I like it for it's reliability.

We have a 2009, SXT, 3.5 purchased in February 2009. "We" meaning that it is my wife's car, but I'm responsible for the maintenance. So far, except for an issue with the door wiring, I haven't had do anything except the routine rquirements. I have always done 99% of any work done on any vehicles that I have owned, but this is the first time that I have had to adhere so strictly to the maintenance schedule, due to the "Lifetime Powertrain limited Warranty". I always keep maintenace records, but now I have to keep receipts for oil, filters, etc. also. At the last 6 month oil change the odometer had gained a mere 750 miles! We are talking about the "Little old lady that only drives on weekends". The Journey has yet to accrue 14,000 miles. Brakes are fine, but driving in South Florida is like driving around on a table top, so not much stress. Need to get the five year warranty inspection done soon. My wife is looking forward to the time she can get "Antique" plates for her JC. As a firm believer that one can never aquire enough information, I am going back to my task of reading all of the previous posts on this great forum.
