  1. When we started the ordering process back in the beginning of October 2012 for the Journey, we couldn't get the heated seats and steering wheel to show on the dealer's order pages... It is quite possible that the heated option, like the 8.4N is available on more Canadian models than the US models. We tried several different paths through the dealer's ordering process and just could not get those to show up on the Crew option pages (not in October of 2012 at any rate). The price would have been a little more for the Crew (the fully loaded Crew vs. the R/T) since a lot of the options that I wanted were "packaged" cheaper on the R/T and I'm perfectly happy with my Storm Gray color. Color me a pretty happy owner. Still can't believe you order the roof rail option and it doesn't come with cross bars, or you order the tow package and it comes with a bag of wires floating in a bag in the back, an installed cooler and no hitch. My thinking is that if you order (and pay for) "options", they should be usable when you pick up the vehicle...you shouldn't have to "order" and "pay for" more optional equipment to use your "options". It would be like ordering the optional third row seating and find the seats in a bag in the back and you would have to order the seatcoverings and seatbelts to install them for use... Much like the DRLs...everything was there, including the software to turn them on and off, but, the hoops I had to jump through to actually get them to work...? Sheesh. If you they need to charge more for the options, then charge for them so that they are complete and usable. OK, done with my mini-rant. Basically, and over-all, I'm very pleased with the vehicle.
  2. Nope... To the best of my knowledge, the 8.4N wasn't available (and still isn't) on a US Journey SXT. I just visited the Dodge.com page and it still isn't an option on the SXT model. That was one of the reasons (I also wanted the heated seats and steering wheel; I got spoiled by my LongHorn RAM 2500) when I ordered my 2013 at the end of October of 2012 that I ordered the R/T model. I really liked the copper color, so, initially I was going to build a Crew, but, I was told I couldn't get the heated seats and steering wheel on the Crew; hence the R/T in Storm Gray that I have now. I believe you have to go to, at the minimum, to the Crew model lineup (in the US) to have the 8.4N option available.
  3. Yes, and apparently a lower voltage than that of the Jeep Commander I had. The Jeep's high beam DRLs were dimmer than the regular high beams, but, still quite bright. The Journey's high beam DRLs are quite pleasant; definitely not a "bright spot" to either oncoming vehicles or those immediately ahead of me, but. still noticable as "this car has headlights on". When I use the turn signals, the reduced high beam on that side turns off for the duration of the time the turn signal is on making the turn signal that much easier to view by oncoming traffic; haven't verified that they actually do, but, I did notice at the shop that they appeared to behave that way (I could watch them working on it through the window). As I was watching, they ran the turn signals and from my vantage point, the high beam bulb on that side appeared to go off and, of course, they go off when not in a drive gear or when the emergency brake is on...
  4. WooHoo! I've got DRLs! Dealership added the LMK code. It wasn't listed on the "accepted list" of option codes, so, the first group (sales) that he (Service Manager) said it couldn't be done. He had contacted them before I even picked the car up as I had told them I wanted the DRLs (thanks to them trying) and based on what he was told he thought it was a dead issue. Told him of the postings on the forum and he contacted the service group out of Pittsburgh. They managed to get the code added despite it not appearing to be a "valid" listing for my year, model and country of origin codes. The next problem occurred when they attempted to turn them on through the TIPM...turns out that the "on/off" software switch for the car's systems isn't in the TIPM; the BCM (body control module) had to be updated with the new VIN information (that now included the LMK code as an option on the car) and viola! DRLs that work as advertised and are controlled now through the UConnect system in the car (I can control whether they are on or off with the car's UConnect system). One happy camper here! Thanks to everyone here and at Bedford Chrysler for their help and diligence in getting this sorted out.
  5. Thank you! We started our "camping" back when we got married in 1970. Started off with backpacking. Most of the Appalachian Trail, most of Mt Ranier's base trail, various other hikes in this country, coast to coast twice on Offa's Dyke in England (follows the Welsh / English border). We then evolved into car camping (backpacking equipment hauled in our Plymouth Voyager and later our Grand Caravan) when the kiddo got old enough to say he didn't like "hiking". Did that for a lot of years until around '00 and we started RVing (I can't call it camping either). Regular bumper pulls served us well until the episode in El Centro. It was tight in the trailer; the two of us and three cats, but, far too hot to do anything for more than an hour or two outside. Got back from that trip a week before the largest RV show; Hershey RV Show in Hershey, PA., and figured what the heck, we'd go just to "look". They advertised that they had 900 RVs there that year; don't doubt it and we must have crawled over and through 800 of them. The Cougar 318SAB and the RAM 2500 LongHorn were the result. A very expensive "look"! But no, we don't "camp" any more, too darned old for that "sleeping on the ground" thing, we travel and we (wife and I along with the 3 fur kids) do that quite comfortably in the 5th wheel, basically a house on wheels. Our "usual" is about 3 to 4 months on the road until we get "homesick", then its back home for a few months and then we get the "itch" and we hit the road again. Just got back from a trip across the US to the west coast, then up to the San Juan's and back; 11,998 miles towing, a bit over 14,000 miles counting the sightseeing. Over the years, we've been in every state in the Union with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska (they are on the list, but, I haven't figured out yet how to get the RV to Hawaii; wish they'd build a bridge...) and the provinces of Ontario east to Nova Scotia in Canada, and of course, Wales and Great Britain. We'll do the rest of Canada when we do Alaska.
  6. Here's the Commander and FunFinder that we used to own getting ready to head for Oregon: And at rest: A perfect combination for quite a few years until we decided we needed a bit more space for those times we had to stay inside for any length of time (we were in El Centro, CA and it was 118 degrees during the day, cooling off to a "comfortable 98 at 3 am). Now, this is what we haul: 35' of split level comfort. There are two slides on the other side and the whole unit is about half the size of our house's first floor. Twin A/C units for those hot days and plenty of space for the cats (we travel with 3; Coco, J-Lo and Ragamuffin) all hooked up to the 2011 RAM 2500 LongHorn HO Cummins Turbo Diesel. Wife says we've gone over to the "dark side"; instead of pulling a "camper", we haul a house. Enough room that I took out the dining room table and put one of her weaving looms in its place. Don't have any photographs, yet, of the Journey. We picked it up in the snow and it is positively filthy with the road spray. I did, however, get the mats, vent visors, hood shield and splash guards on it, but, want to wait until I wash it before I start any pictures. We were sorry to see the Jeep go, but, with the change from the trailer to a 5th wheel, we didn't need it for towing any longer and we were really tired of the check engine light being on (for over 2.5 years...). Chrysler got tired of trying to fix it and offered us a deal we couldn't pass up to get the new Journey. We're happy.
  7. The molded splash guards are three dimensional (not just a flat piece of material) and have the word "DODGE" molded into the back surface in raised letters. Much "sharper" looking than the plain jane flat guards. There was a change made to the Journey's dimensions between the '10 and '11 years. What fits an '09-10, will not fit an '11-13 Journey, at least the rears. I don't know what the part numbers are for the '09-'10 Journeys because I have a '13 and, to be honest, Mopar didn't list anything for the '13s at the time I ordered mine. I got mine off eBay from a Dodge dealer (King's) that listed the fitment as being "officially" for the 2011-2012 Journeys (all models) and "unofficially" as fitting the 2013 Journeys. I ordered a set and they do, indeed, fit the 2013 Dodge Journey, so, I'm going to assume that King's is correct in stating that the front and rears fit the 2011, and 2012 models as well. The part # for the fronts: 82210996AB (Mopar Number) http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/82210996AB/partinfo.aspx?DivisionId=2&VehicleId=40&Year=2012&CategoryId=1003&GroupId=2036&SubGroupId=3166&pc=76482 The listing shows it being the flat splash guard; the part number and the picture are, in fact, the Deluxe Molded Splash guard. Mopar needs to fix their listing along with the years applicable. It doesn't surprise me that even the dealerships wouldn't be able to find a listing for them...unless you know the part number you wouldn't find them; the same with the rears. It is a wonder that there aren't more errors, with the changing of existing models and the addition of new models, it must be a nightmare trying to get the web listings updated and the new listed without errors. The part # for the rears: 82212865 (Mopar Number) http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/Dodge/2012/Journey/partlist.aspx?DivisionId=2&Year=2012&VehicleId=40&CategoryId=1003&GroupId=2036&SubGroupId=3163 The link for the rears mention only the 2012, however, from what I found out when searching for them, they also fit the 2011 and the 2013 and that is the number from the Mopar package that mine came in and they were a perfect fit on my 2013 R/T. The above numbers are for the "high end" molded deluxe splash guards...relatively easy to install, took me about 45 minutes for all 4 wheels and they do look sharp. Hope that helps those in a quandry about what fits what and the correct part #s for 2011-2013 Dodge Journeys are for the Deluxe Molded Splash Guards from Mopar.
  8. Well, the splash guards arrived and I got around to installing them today, sheesh 55 degrees outside in the middle of January while the southwest is freezing... Perfect fit, front and rear on my '13 R/T. Took me a couple of hours, but, only about 45 minutes of real work, the rest of the time I was just "puttering" and "looking" at the mechanicals of the car. Part number #82210996AB, for the front, fitting 2011-2013 Dodge Journeys were easiest to put on. Part number #82212865, for the rear, fitting 2011-2013 Dodge Journeys were also easy, but, not as easy as the fronts. I finally gave up trying to get the clip nuts onto the wheel well shield and just used them as nuts for the screws. Easy to reach the screws from underneath and didn't require any swear words (I recently was diagnosed with RA and the fingers don't work like they used to, leading to lots of swearing as I adjust to my "new range {read lack} of mobility")! So, for those of you that have a 2011-2013 Dodge Journey, those are the appropriate part numbers for the molded splash shields from Mopar. Perfect fit and they really look sharp. We use a lot of "anti-skid" cinders in our area and they should prevent the sandpaper effect of them being thrown against the undercarriage and rocker panels. I'll have to see if they have any effect on the spray kicked up onto the back of the Journey the next time it rains/snows. I doubt if it will make much of a difference, but, I can always hope!
  9. A question on the sunroof deflector... I was walking back from the mailbox and glanced at the sunroof on the DJ; it struck me how much it sloped down towards the front of the car. For those of you with sunroof deflectors - do you have trouble with water damming or being backed up inside the sunroof deflector or are there drain holes around the front edge to let it drain out? It would appear that with the slope, that a rather substantial amount of water could pool there and with our area, during the winter, freezing and then thawing and freezing again could push the deflector off the vehicle or force leakage past the sunroof's seals. Any thoughts or real world experience? Do they have "drain" provisions?
  10. We picked up our new '13 AWD R/T a couple of weeks ago; finally put gas in it for the first time. We live in the foothills of the mountains, so, the terrain is quite hilly. Mix of highway (had to go to Altoona once on I-99) and local. I was quite impressed as we hand-computed to 20.6 mpg (EVIC says 19.9). The vehicle we gave up for the Journey was a Hemi Commander. I won't tell you how poor the mileage on that puppy was, but, 20.6 mpg for the very first tank makes me ecstatic! Given the size (virtually indentical to the Commander, 6" shorter and actually 2" longer) and that kind of improvement in mpg, I'll keep my Pentastar. Miss my Jeep, but, the Journey rides better, handles better and is certainly easier on my wallet.
  11. My owner's manual specs 95 ft lbs for the 19" wheels on my '13 R/T...
  12. From the King's dealership (eBay Merchant) posting (where I ordered my front and rears; my dealership didn't have a listing for the rears, just like the Mopar site): "This auction is for (1) set of 82210996AB front and (1) set of 82212865 rear molded splash guards for all 4 wheels. Application is for 2011 Dodge Journey Mainstreet, RT, Crew, and LUX, all 2012 - 2013 Dodge Journey models." King's did have a part # listed for the rears: 82212865, but, putting that in on the Mopar's site search comes up blank...but, a general search on the part number yields (at the Mopar site): http://www.mopar.com/part/82212865?s=335635&i=1995069&b=dodge Which shows they (that part #) do fit the 2011-12 (and probably '13 models).
  13. I just checked the WeatherTech site...no listing for a Journey fitment of their sunroof deflector and I filled out a "request for manufacture" form. I guess I'll go with the Mopar version if I don't here anything from WeatherTech by this spring. I don't imagine there is a great difference in any of them, but, I would love to get one in the lighter tint (like the window visors I got from them) as it almost disappears on the Storm Gray paint scheme.
  14. Based on the website I bought mine from, there is a difference between the '10 and the '11 and newer dimensions. The website I posted listed a fitment for '11-'12 and tacked on the '13 "unofficially". No mention of them fitting the '10s, in fact, if you try to put in the 2010 model, it tells you that it won't fit. Evidently, they did make a dimensional change between 2010 and 2011 model years however slight it may have been. I'll know more about them when they arrive.
  15. I, too, went with the Mopar version... This eBay Dodge dealer lists them for '11-12 all models and in "added" information, indicates that it will also fit the '13s. http://www.ebay.com/itm/120914739014?item=120914739014&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OU:US:3160&vxp=mtr Still waiting on them to come (ordered them a few days ago; they've been shipped, but, still in transit). Using their site as a guide, the '11-'13 model years are the same wheel well dimensions.
  16. I ordered all the parts for the '12...I just looked, and for instance, the floor mats are now showing applications for the '13 model year, when I ordered mine, they only went to '12. Evidently, they are "updating" their listings now. To my knowledge, mechanically, there isn't any change from the '12s to '13s; just rearranging of option packages and "standards" on the individual models; at least as far as the sheet metal and physical measurements are concerned. I ordered the mud flaps from an eBay Dodge storefront and they are for a '12, but, the "print" on the site also indicated a '13 fit. I started to order the WeatherTech flaps, but, I wanted the "DODGE" on them, so I went with the Mopar version. Windancer has convinced me on the sunroof deflector, but, the WeatherTech site doesn't list them (at least not that I've found, but, I haven't poked around enough on their site yet...) and it would be nice if I could get one from them if it was offered in the light tint like the window deflectors; the light tint is a near perfect match for the Storm Gray of my R/T.
  17. Thanks...that "pushed me over the edge" I'll wait until it warms up a bit first, a little cold for using the sunroof right now anyway. Now if the mud flaps would just get here!
  18. I just installed a complete set of floor mats (all 3 rows), cargo area, window visors (fronts and rears) and the bug shield; all from WeatherTech on my 2013 R/T. Floors, windows and hood all lined up perfectly and fit like a glove. The hood shield came with screws, but, the instructions didn't list the Journey as needing them, so, I mounted using the tape only. As of now, very tight fit and I don't have any qualms about it coming loose. Since it is the wrap around style (covers the front edges of the fenders) I used the 4 soft snubbers on the wrapped portion (two on each) since those aren't wrapped under (as the hood portion is) and could "flap in the breeze". The bumpers should protect the paint if they do any moving around at highway speeds. The rest of the bug shield is stiff enough and stands off far enough from the hood that, short of a collision, contact with the paint shouldn't be an issue. I got the window visors in the light gray; a perfect match to the Storm Gray color of my R/T...only wish I had the option of the light gray for the bug shield... Wheel spats (mud flaps) are on their way, so, the only thing left is the decision on whether to get the sunroof deflector or not; haven't made up mind on that one yet.
  19. Thanks for your help and suggestions... Sorry if I sounded a little dense, but, I was trying to get it straight in my head whether the problem was the code wasn't in the list and because of that it couldn't be done, or, whether it wasn't in the list so they just quit at that point, but, it was still possible. I'll contact the dealer with a copy of the above (we're on first name terms with all the guys) and then I'll go through the Customer Assistance Center if they are still in doubt. I still don't understand the not enabling the DRLs, at least now, since the on/off command is in the UConnect software. Seems with that option in the menu that turning them off (unless required as in Canada) wouldn't be an issue, unless, once activated, that menu option won't turn them off, the opposite of now, where it won't turn them on... Again, my thanks, and sorry if a feather or two was ruffled, it wasn't my intent and I, for one, am glad that we have a Chrysler representative monitoring and lending a hand on this forum.
  20. I was suitably impressed with the AWD on my '13 R/T. I got the Journey as the new car on a buy back program for my 2008 Jeep Commander (check engine light on for over 2 1/2 years; they couldn't figure out why or fix it...). One of the things I thought I would really miss was the full time 4 wheel drive of the Commander. Must admit, during the recent snows here, that I couldn't tell the difference in driveability. Now it isn't going to do the off-roading that the Jeep was capable of, but, in the snow (from hard pack to 4" of fluff), I was suitably impressed and I'm thoroughly enjoying driving with no "Check Engine" light on! Took a while, but, Chrysler came through (with the buy back) and I'm very pleased with our pick of the Journey as its replacement. Hopefully it will hold up as well some of the other Dodges that we've owned. 272,000 miles on our 1996 Grand Caravan and 187,000 miles (our son is still driving it) on our 2000 Neon ES.
  21. I just installed the complete WeatherTech kit; floor mats for all three seating rows, hood protector (no screws, just tape) and the window visors in the light tint on all four doors. Wish the bug shield came in the light tint; on the Storm Gray, the light tint is a very good match to the paint's color. Remains to be seen how well the bug deflector stays on the hood using the tape only...it came with four screws, but, the instructions indicated that they weren't used on the Journey (listed some cars where they were to be used, but, the Journey wasn't on the list so I left them off). As an aside and the real reason I'm posting to this thread, the instructions above are very useful, but, for those interested, the WeatherTech items aren't listed for the '13 Journeys (yet), but, they (as listed for the 2012s) fit the '13s perfectly.
  22. Are you saying that my R/T can't have the LMK code added, because it isn't on the list for the R/T, or just that they couldn't find it, so they didn't add it; i.e., could the LMK code be added even though it isn't in the list of options for the '13 R/T? It seems to me that Chrysler is really missing the boat on the DRLs. The coding is in the bus, the coding is in the 8.4 UConnect software (the "switch" (check box) is in my list of "options" for turning them on); why don't they just enable the lights on all of them and let the user decide (unless for Canada where they are mandatory)? For something as important as vehicle safety as visibility is, you'd think they would be all over it; think of the advertising mileage they could get out of it...especially for folks like me that have no doubt about their effectiveness? Which brings up another possible way... On my '08 Jeep Commander (XK), in order to get DRLs activated on it, I had them change the country to Canada (where they are required), had them (DRLs) turned on while in Canada mode by the StarScan unit and then changed the country code back to US so that I'd have Imperial units on the bus. They may have even done that with my 2011 RAM 2500 CTD since it too, has DRLs that they "activated" when I took delivery of it (the dealer activated them, the truck wasn't delivered with them enabled). I'm not sure what method they used, but, I did go through quite an ordeal (several trips to the dealer and conversations with the service manager and tech) with them on getting the XK's DRLs enabled; they said it couldn't be done for much the same reasons that I'm being told about the Journey... Would that be possible with the Journey? Change the country code to Canada, enable the DRLs and then change the country code back to US?
  23. Thanks! And a Happy New Year to you also! We had a 2000 Neon ES. Great car and the son and his new wife are now driving it. Son has gotten our "hand me downs" for years...I think the last car he actually bought was back in the early eighties sometime. We buy new, he gets the old for free. He knows the history and the maintenance and he's quite happy with our cast offs and I don't have to dicker with trading in, selling on the public market or otherwise disposing of the old cars. He'd really like to have the '76 El Dorado or the '89 Le Baron Limited (both convertibles), but, alas, he'll have to wait until I'm in the ground for those... :waiting:
  24. Chrysler did a buy back on our 2008 Jeep Hemi Commander. Sorry to see it go, aside from the issue that caused the buy back, it was a marvelous vehicle... We decided that we didn't need the 4 wheel drive of the Jeep anymore (we used it for winter driving and towing our FunFinder 210WBS RV) since we've since moved up to a 5th wheel trailer and have a 2011 Dodge LongHorn 2500 HO CTD to pull it with and it is 4x4 for when we need 4 wheel drive. Looked at the Dodge lineup and we wanted something a little more "Car-Like", but, still had all weather capabilities. We ordered our Storm Gray R/T, loaded with everything except the DVD player (we don't have children; our "youngest" is 42... ). Ordered it October 30th and took delivery on December 29th. We've had snow here and I must say that it handles almost as well as the Commander, with full time QDII, in the couple of inches that we've driven in and it rides much nicer; definitely more car-like and less Jeep-like and the fuel mileage, needless to say, is much better than the Hemi of the Jeep. The Jeep and the RAM 2500 have/had the heated seats and steering wheel, so, we're happy with the Journey's inclusion of those features. The two things we miss, so far, are the memory seats and mirrors for each driver and the adjustable pedals. All in all, we're pleased with Journey; the keyless operation will take some getting used to, but, we're already liking not having to fumble with the buttons on the fobic or trying to get a key into the slot, the ride is great (less wallowing than the Commander) and the 3.6 VVT engine is plenty for our hilly back roads. The Garmin Nav is a big change from the Navteq units in the Jeep and RAM that we had, but, the size of the screen in the Journey is a definite bonus for our "older" eyes!
  25. This is directed at Dodge Cares (or if someone else knows for sure, chime in! ) I just took possession of a 2013 Journey R/T, loaded with everything except the DVD player. I still can't get over ordering the tow package and it doesn't include the hitch and the 4 pin connector is in a bag in the back of the car..., but, I digress. It is an American unit and I tried to get them to add the the code for the DRLs. The dealership contacted Chrysler, and they even printed out all the codes available for the US 2013 Journey...no codes listed for DRLs in the US for the 2013 model. Is there a code, unofficial if need be, that can be added to a US build sheet that will add the DRL capability to a US 2013 Journey R/T?
