  1. I have been looking at window stickers and I have noticed that the 2012 FWD R/T has a Touring Suspension While the AWD R/T's have a Performance suspenstion. Can anyone speak to the differences and why the AWD has a more sport tuned suspension.. Is it to carry the extra weight etc?
  2. I dont have the knowledge to be technical but I in general the standard suspenstion would have more body roll in turns, would absorb more on a bumpy road due to a more forgiving and less harsh springs / shocks / struts. The touring should have less body roll and harsher on bump roads due to harsher / less absorbant shocks / struts. In short the touring is just a stiffer and more sport tuned suspension.
  3. I am very interested in finding out more about this. Per the spec sheets I have seen the 2012 SXT has a Standard suspension while the Crew and R/T are Touring.. The 2013 R/T will get a Sport suspension. I am about to pull the trigger on a 2012 R/T. wonder if its worth waiting for a 2013. The 2013's also have a sticker $1000 less.
  4. I am going to stand ground on my previous post. The calculator and fuel consumption doesnt lie... Anyways for you non believers I think its safe to assume that we can agree that even if the filter produces 0 HP and no milage improvment the K&N saves you money in the long haul. Its a one and done filter. a $40 investment ($50 for the reoiling kit) will last the life of your car unless you drive over a million miles. with an OEM paper filter you are replaceing that puppy every year. But I pay for my K&N in milage savings. You guys can pay for yours though the many filters you do not needs to buy. regardless its cheaper to go K&N. many arguments many different points of view but one simple answer. However you want to twist it the K&N will save you money...
  5. Thanks for the awesome explaination. This explains so much. I made a homemade intake tube for my G8 that went between my TB and my stock intake box. At the drag strip I was .05 slower in the 60' but I was .13 quicker overall and I gained almost 2 MPH. Lost a little low end torque but gained a decent amount of top end HP to over compensate. Conditions were almost identical both times at the track.
  6. Dude... I am not going to get into a pissing match with anyone because you are entitled to your own opinion but I can assure you I am getting better milage with the K&N. Its not crazygreat. Like I said 1-2 mpg. My G8 is a strict commuter. Same drive every day M-F. It gets 17/25 and I went from 20 mpg average to 21.5. Its dead 21.5 every time now with 50/50 city highway. You cannot tell me I am not getting better milage. but if you feel happy saying I dont. it doesnt bother me any. Like I said you are entitled to your own opinion. Peace.
  7. Yeah I always removed restictions as well that made sense. The only thing with linear tubing leading up to the air filter box is its probably there to smooth out the air flow and increase velocity. I have found on various vehicles that sometime cutting as you are suggesting helps and sometimes it creates air turbulance and kills power. Not owning a Journey yet I am not really sure which one of those two scenerios will be true.
  8. Yeah like another poster said. headers just are not going to happen. Like it was mentioned Cat back is the bets solution for flow and mileage but one thing to consider here.... If you could find or make a cat back system unless you are able to tune the ecu you will only be able to use a small portion of the potential or it may actually hurt performance. Back on my G8 forum there were all of these guys doing intake and exhaut modifications and they ran slower at that track because the ECU was not tunable at the time. I would personally just go with a performance replacement muffler like dynomax super turbos or something. I made an intake tube to go between my TB and air box and put super turbos on my V6 G8 and gained almost 2 10ths and 2 MPH in the quarter. Thats an estimated 15 RWHP. I would recomend keeping mods simple untne we can tune this puppy.
  9. Cool. Thanks. Well if it is truly 3" than that is good. Anything bigger would be a waist and kill velocity. Sounds like throwing on high flow mufflers will be the route to start with. I put dynomax super turbos on my G8 and loved them. I will have to see.
  10. I have a question for you guys who have the SXT/Crew V6s or the R/T (assuming they have the same exhaust)... Is it a true dual exhaust or is it a single pipe with a Y pipe with Dual outlets? Is there a mid muffler, resonators as well as the rear mufflers? Just wondering where I have to start hacking when I pick mine up. If you have pics of the stock exhaust system I'd love to see it. Thanks, Matt
  11. When I get mine I would be making my own. Made one on my G8. Mostly used spectre performance universal parts.
  12. Great. Thanks for the info on the auto stick. Just like my stratus r/t s auto stick. That's definitly what I wanted to hear
  13. probably a little of both but if it was just one its the intake manifold for sure.
  14. I would check out chargerforums.com for pentastar stuff. There are a few guys who mod out their chargers and if they can get a tune for their pentastar maybe we can get a tune for ours. I'd love to just be able to tune up to the 292 in the charger or the 305 the challangers they are pushing out.
  15. I have used K&N filters in all of my cars since day 1 on my past 6 cars. I have nothing put great experiences out of them. I will argue that they do create more HP and better milage from personal experience and documentation but I am only gaining 1-2 MPG overall. In regards to HP.. any gain less than 5-10 HP you may not feel unless you beat your car to death or run it at the track. More flow will equate to more HP and better milage. Some tend to drive their cars harder with a K&N because generally anyone who consider K&N's are more spirited drivers so you just arent going to get better milage because of your driving habits. I will get K&N over and over and over again. in regards to AEM dryflow. I have only heard good things about those and allot of people have a strong preference since you do not have to oil/ reoil your filter. some people will complain that their K&N ruined their mass air flow sensor but that is probably because they over oiled it. done properly you shouldnt have an issue.
