  1. For the most part, the carriers are pretty good, but believe me, I have seen some pretty disturbing damages to vehicles coming off carriers. Most of the time, they were sent to us for repairs or evaluation. I remember one instance where the carrier driver was unloading a vehicle RIGHT IN OUR LOT and hidn't lowerer the ramp from his truck enough. He backed up off the truck and hit the rear glass and peeled back part of the roof...now THAT was ugly, not only because it was damaged, but because it was a Challenger....the owner was waiting for this thing to arrive after waiting almost 2 months....NOW, there's a pissed off new car owner !! Hope everything works out for you. OH.. did the report say Fenkell repair or Fenkell GLASS...BIG difference... If it's glass, it could just be an issue where an inspector or driver noticed slight damage to any of the glass and it had to be replaced..... Hope this helps.
  2. Take a look here.. http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?/topic/2561-rough-idle-and-a-couple-other-things/page__p__15399__fromsearch__1#entry15399 Since i've had the damper replaced, it has toned down quite a bit. Tech centre here in Windsor said that there was an issue with some of the engines that were built during a certain time ( not sure of the exact dates ) and they are addressing the issue. Show this to your dealership and ask them to contact the Windsor Ontario Chrysler Tech Centre for answers. I think they could ask for Bob Renaud as he is aware of the situation with these engines. Hope this helps.
  3. A Fenkell Repair Status is just that. It means that your shipment was delayed due to some type of damage on the vehicle, whether it was bumped into, creased, damaged by the carrier or what ever... Depending on the severity of the damages / repairs, you have the right to refuse delivery of the vehicle and Chrysler has to sell the vehicle as a USED vehicle... again, depending on the severity of the damages. They also have to inform you of such damages. Sorry to scare you, but, these are the choices you have. Good luck with it.
  4. Ya, the guys at the Tech Centre also told me that there is supposed to be a flash coming out for that problem. Haven't talked to them in a while. I may just call them tomorow. I'll keep you posted. Ya 22 seems to be the blast point for me too.
  5. Sorry I've been away for a while, wife in hospital. DodgeCares...thanks for helping him out with this. I had the damper replaced a couple weeks ago and it did settle the engine down a little...not as shaky as it was. I was also in contact with the Tech Centre here in Windsor and aparently, they have a couple others with similar issues. They will get back to me with their findings and solutions.
  6. It's normally the front brakes that are the ones used most often. You'll always find the front brakes to be worn out more than the rears...not sure what ya got there. Sounds like something is out of whack...the fronts may not be working as hard as they should be....may need an adjustment or could even be air in the front lines ??...Hope this helps.
  7. Welcome fellow Canuck !!
  8. 1.Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable .2.Loosen the front fascia on the same side of the vehicle as the front lamp unit being removed. 3.Remove the four plastic push-pin fasteners that secure the upper grille to the Front End Module (FEM). 4.Flex the fascia and grille (1) outward far enough to access and remove the three screws (2) that secure the front lamp unit to the FEM. 5.Pull the front lamp unit away from the FEM far enough to access and disconnect the headlamp and dash wire harness connectors from the back of the lamp housing. 6.Remove the front lamp unit from the vehicle.
  9. UPDATE: Went to the dealership on Friday October 7th. The radio was re flashed with the latest update and so far ( been in the Journey 3 times, since ) the volume has not blasted upon start up. The brakes squeeling will be replaced in a few weeks when the engine is being fixed for the rough idle issue. As for the rough idle issue, the Tech Centre rep was there and found that my VIN number was within a group of other VIN numbers that have a Harmonic Balancer concern. A Harmonic Balancer can also be called a Crank Pulley Damper or a Crankshaft Damper. There was a concern during production with these Harmonic Balancers and my VIN # falls within this concern. A Rapid Response was issued to these VIN #'s and are to be replaced when serviced. Now I just have to wait for the part to come in from MOPAR. Could take a few weeks.... I may get in touch with my contact at Trenton to see if we can speed this up a bit rather than waiting for the part from MOPAR. STAY TUNED !
  10. I was at the dealership today having my wife's vehicles oil changed and I talked to the Service Manager about my Friday appointment. We will definately be having someone look at the engine from the Tech Center here in Windsor. The front rotors an pads will most likely be replaced and he'll have someone check on the radio issue. I know these issues were talked about before on previous posts. I put this issue out there again to see if anyone had these same issues and any results that they may have had dealing with them. MRLUX, thanks for the response. I did check other posts and no one really had a definate answer. Hopefully, by Friday, I'll be able to post some positive results. Thanks all.....
  11. Just wondering, has anyone had any issues with their Pentastar 3.6L engine having a rough idle? The engine shakes quite a bit at idle in gear and in neutral and the gas milage as of yesterday was around 11.1 L/100kms. Tha seems a little off for what this new engine should be performing at. I have 2500 K on it, so far. Sounds like we may have to get the Tech Center involved.. Also noticed a squeeky left front brake. The other annoying issue is the radio. When the Journey is started up after sitting for a while, the radio blasts really loudly.. I know when I left it, the volume was around 10-12 and when I start up, the volume blasts around 22. If I get a chance, later on I'll check for any TSB's or Rapid Recalls on these subjects. In the mean time, just wondering if anyone has any input on these issues. Thanks.
  12. Hello all. Been hanging around here for a little while and thought I'd chime in and say Hello. I'm a retired Chrysler Canada Executive Vehicle service garage Parts Manager from the Windsor Ontario area and have been retired for 2 years after 33 1/2 years of service. Hopefully, we'll hear from a lot of Journey owners who may have issues and even tips about their vehicles. Hopefully, I can be of some help to those who have questions and if I know the answer, I'll certainly help you with it. Thanks again and we'll be here often. I've also created a Photo Gallery of my new ride. They didn't come out a good as I wanted, but atleast I was able to figure out how to create the gallery...lol. Enjoy. My Photo Album
  13. I too, am new to this forum but not new to Chrysler/Dodge forums in the past. I've recently purchased a 2012 Dodge Journey and have found this vehicle to be of top quality and the new design features it has over the 09's and 10's are remarkable. Yes, Chrysler was facing tough times during those years and many people, including myself were unsure of their future with Chrysler. I chose to retire after 33 1/2 years with the company, not only to help them out, but to allow the younger employees a chance to survive. One HUGE misconception that people have, including our new friend, jimbocoles, is that they think that this money was given to Chrysler and GM as a 'BAILOUT" but fact of the matter is, dear sir/madam, is that it was a LOAN and NOT a BAILOUT.... a LOAN has to be PAID BACK...that, of which Chrysler and GM DID, and might I say..."YEARS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE"....Now a BAILOUT is what many of the banks recieved when they were in trouble... the government said...here... take these BILLIONS of dollars and get yourself back on your feet.... BANKS "NEVER" had to pay back any of that money.... Just something to think about when you get your next MORTGAGE ! Enjoy your stay here on the board.
