    HOT Summer

Hi all. We're having a really hot summer here in Spain. I live in a town at sea shore, so, it's supossed there's not so much hot, but this year is terrible. How's the weather like where you live? Catch your DJ's termometer and post pics, no matter Fahrenheit or Celsius, I don't want to start a war
  2. Evil people, all those who write owner's manuals. :) I have no idea if my DJ (model 2009) will chime and/or show messsage, I'll check when I'm driving without any other car behind me.
  3. Dodge Journey is sold in Europe as Fiat Freemont since late 2011. Dodge had Volkswagen diesel engine with 140 hp and 310 Nm, but Fiat offers two engines (designed by themselves), same 140 hp, and another engine with 170 hp and 350 Nm, which is powerful enough, at least, that's what it's said by everybody who has tested it.
  4. Hi from Spain Psyke17. A couple of questions: ¿Have you got your DRL's enabled? In those pictures, it seems you have, and it's nice, but a very kind member of this forum checked my VIN, and it wasn´t posible to do it for me. There's another post, written by an italian owner of a Fiat Freemont, with a not expensive and easy to install additional hardware so that DRL's work using high beams, ¿are you using it? You mentioned you have GPS, ¿could you ever have an update on it? My maps are getting really old, and I find no way to upgrade them. Thank you in advance, and have nice driving.
  5. Not really. Switch allows to turn on only front fog lights, or both front and rear fog lights. My Journey also works that way.
  6. Hi. I've got a 2009 SXT 2.0 CRD 4 years ago. It is now almost 70.000 kms., and I've had 3 issues last year that I never expected to have in a brand new car: Radiator - Substitution. It wasn't posible to repair. Starter - Sometimes car did not start, though battery was in good condition. Unmounting, cleaning, and mounting again. Turbo admission and DPF - Changing turbo tube and forcing DPF cleaning process. Total repair cost: not more than 600 € I've never heard about first, but the others are a little bit common on diesel DJ's. Surf the net and google for it. If you still want to buy (hope I haven´t scared you even more), check that car starts easily on a cold morning, and also check turbo admission (it's right in front of you when you lift the hood, beside oil checker). It's also true that you need to replace front brake pads every 25.000 kms., and rear every 40.000, but tires can last 65.000 kms (front) or longer (rear). It's a big car here in Europe, not easy to park, but it's nice to have sooooo much room when you don't use 7 seats (BTW, very easy to fold). It's comfortable for long trips, and, man, it's a DODGE with a ram badge in the grill. Good Luck, nobody said taking decissions were easy.
  7. Thank you again. I think I'm going to use this option on high beams, it will be my DJ's next gift.
  8. Thank you very much. Now I have to dare to install it, I'm not used to do maintenance but I think I'll start with the fog lights option (it seems to be easier than using high beams).
  9. Thank you for this amazing info. Now, it's time to study.
  10. Journeyman checked my VIN and it wasn't possible to add salescode.Thank you anyway
  11. DJs sold outside North America haven´t enabled DRL's, and it's not possible adding sales code to our VINs, so, this is a pretty good way to have DRL using high beams (as you say, at lower power, I suppose that's why relays must be used). I've been reading a little bit about relays and connectors, and I can´t guess how high beams are powered without setting on the switch on the lever next to the steering wheel. Please, italian friend, need some help.
  12. Hi It seems to work fine indeed. Is it possible you post some pics of wiring and connections? I am looking for a way to have DRL on my DJ since I bought it, so I've liked your video, and I'm going to try something like that, but I need some help. I've got a couple of questions: Is light switch set to off position when DRL turns on? Is it possible to switch DRL off? Thank you in advice.
  13. You're right. Nothing to do with map update. Sorry TaSol.
  14. You can also check your VIN in this web https://rsur.extra.chrysler.com/rsur/Uconnect.do BTW, mine has no upgrade, and it needs.
  15. I don´t live in USA (but I've visited several times) so I don´t know your cars very well. My last visit (whole family, wife and 3 kids, who were 14, 9, 7) was on 2013 summer, and I rented a Grand Caravan, with captain's chairs in middle row. It was nice to drive, but I even didn't try offroading, maybe, as you say, low clearance to ground. On the other way, there was enough room for all our luggage. One option if you want to keep your DJ is placing your middle kid's seat on the third row, at driver's side, 5-years old child in 2nd row at the same side, and trying if you can push front (not fold) the second row seat so that middle kid can reach his seat. Second row, at passenger's side, would be reserved for little baby, and, worst of it, you lose half of your cargo space. Certainly, not easy to decide. I'm not sure if this one is the same option that bfurth has told you, if so, sorry for repeating, sometimes my english is not so good as I would like to be. Finisihing: isn´t Chevrolet Traverse an option for any of you when considering changing to a bigger SUV?
  16. That's mileage is wonderful for your 3.6 (is that your engine?) I've got the 2.0 diesel (very efficient mileage supposed), and driving at 74 MPH (almost 120 km/h, speed limit in highways in Spain) my mileage is 33 MPG, not far from your 27 MPG. Don't wanna talk about prices for filling up tank
  17. I always let my out of gas warning to be light on, and I read "Lo Fuel" on the DTE option of EVIC, then, I can put easyly 18 gallons (almost 70 litres). Sometimes, after driving for 20 miles, more or less, with warning light on, I put 19 gallons. I would do this test before going to the dealer: Try to fill tank as slowly as you can. When hose stops for first time, tank is not full, that's sure. Wait for 30 seconds or 1 minute, and press hose trigger to fill again, you'll be able to put another gallon, at least. If you repeat that waiting after second stop, it's posible you get a 19 gallons fuelup (if tank was almost empty).
  18. wow, thank you for the info. I guess I'm going to have a long "googling" time...
  19. Your former wheel height (in mm.) was 225 * 0.65 * 2 + 17 * 25.4 = 724.3, and now it's 235 * 0.65 * 2 + 17 * 25.4 = 737.3, as you say, difference is less than 2%, so I don't think you even feel your driving different than it was before your tyre changing. About brakes, what is your mileage for front pads? Mine is 25.000 kms. (15.000 mi.), more or less. I find it's short, and I was wondering if it would be longer with brake disc upgrade (bigger size, of course). I suppose that upgrade means caliper upgrade too, but I'm not sure. If you find out something more about this, please post it here, naming possible brands we could use. Enjoy driving!
  20. Hi. I can't help you about brake upgrade, but I've got something to say about your new tires: total height of your wheels (rim + tyre) is now taller than with 225 tyres. That's because the ratio is the same (65) and width is bigger. Theory says that you would have a little bit faster top speed, but as little bit slower acceleration and hills climbing. Here, in Spain, you even would have a problem with your vehicle inspection, but I don't know how that works in UK.
  21. Great tribute. I'm sure your wife will be proud of you. You're very right, one never knows what's going to happen tomorrow, so don't hesitate showing your feelings to your loved ones. Sometimes, doing so is difficult to me, but reading letters like yours make it a little bit easier. I give thanks everyday to God for having 3 healthy kids and a wife. Enjoy every shiny moment of your life. I'll pray for you too.
  22. Hi. Congratulations for your new car, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I've watched your pic, and, although front can't be seen 100%, I think your car is model 2009. It's easy to know, just check your VIN, which must be interpreted like this (sorry, I can´t draw a table inside a post): Position Interpretation Codes = Description 1 Country of Origin 3 = Manufactured By Chrysler De Mexico Inc. 2 Assembler D = Dodge 3 Vehicle Type 4 = Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle Less Side Curtain Air Bags 8 = Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle With Side Curtain Air Bags 4 GVWR & Pass. Greetings!
  23. OK. I've found the same model of tire that it used from the Factory (Yokohama Aspec A349), so, I hope I'll get similar results if I choose it. Thank you for your comment.
  24. Thank you. What is your other ride? Is it a SUV too? I think that heavy cars (like ours) tires don´t last so long as others, and I'm surprised with Yokohama's "mileage", and I wanted to know if somenoe driving with Coopers had the same feeling.
  25. Hi all. I've got to change my front tires, and I've been told about this brand (Cooper), they're made in USA, and that's why I thought some of you could use them on your Journeys. My other choice are Yokohama, repeating original tires. This is my first tires changing in this car, and I drove for 60.000 Kms, so, I think Yokohama is a good choice when looking for durability.
