  1. No. The 2011 base model had tungsten brake light bulbs. Not surprising that they copied the Canadian product naming, since Canada bought 5 times as many Journeys per capita than they did in the US.
  2. I have issues with the 4.3 on my unit recognising only the first 255 songs on my memory sticks and poor control performance while playing musinc from the keys - plus the tempo of the music varies (it is not the source material). Poor code in the device - I've raised the issue with Chris here and with my dealer.
  3. Does your bill of sale stipulate a plus? It could get interesting if it does.
  4. Your signature says you have a CVP SE Plus - unfortunately the Dodge Canada website doesn't show the 2012 yet for some reason, but for comparison purposes, my 2011 'plus' came with the following enhancements over the base CVP SE - LED tail lights - tinted glass - roof rails - floor mats - 17" aluminum wheels and Kuhmo tires (are the tires an upgrade?) - retractable luggage area cover - leather wrapped shifter and steerng wheel - body coloured mirrors Did they decontent the vehicle for 2012? I will say that LED replacement bulbs in general tend to suck because they don't put the light where the reflector wants to see it. You may like LEDs, but if it isn't as bright as the existing brake and turn lighting you will be compromising safety - not to mention that if they do vehicle inspections in your jurisdiction you may be putting your incandescents back in because lighting has to be SAE approved and that requires OEM specified bulbs.. Besides, at least in my own opinion the rest of the world can look at the outside of my vehicle, but my experience is inside - I prefer to put my farkles where I can directly benefit from them. EDIT: If you hit the 'build it' button on the web site and then the 'special offers' (at least for the Quebec region) it does bring up the order menu for the 2012 - and it clearly states that LED tail lights come in the SE Plus . . . . .
  5. Really? I was under the impression that it works like my 300C did . . . . you drive around and it figures it out by ityself.
  6. A bit too far South for my purchase. Too bad.
  7. Good luck swapping out the radio. How are you planning to control the air conditioning?
  8. The SE comes with the basic radio - AM/FM//CD/USB and nothing else - and the MP3 playback makes everything on the display run slowly and doesn't play decent (160 kb) MP3 source files cleanly.I can only assume that the 4.3S (Sirius) version does no better and likely the 8.2 as well since I think they share common electronics.
  9. Keep in mind that on the continent those MPG ratings would be based on Imperial gallons, so the difference could well be just that of the conversion from Imperial to US measure.
  10. For the moment I have a Garmin 1390 navigator plastered to the windshield above the mirror - it works (and is similar to what I have in my other car). A friend just handed me a Scoche Bluetooth kit that connects to the aux input in the glove box - has great speech processing and outgoing sound quality and plays nicely with an auxiliary (3.5mm) sound source, switching and such - it even supports stereo Bluetooth sources if you have a music source - it will pair with the phone and with a separate music source concurrently. But even though the radio will switch to the aux imput when you plug in a source, it does not do this when you activate the Bluetooth and I dont listen to 3.5 mm music. Unfortunately your dealer is not going to find a kit at this time - the radio in our Journeys is different from the older mygig units and there is the problenm of adding the buttons on the steering wheel. More insidious is that pure MP3 music sources really load down the processor and everything lags including the air coditioning settings, not to mention that MP3 playbback exhibits choppiness and variable tempo as a result - the code/processor compbination in the radio isn't adequate to keep up with the music. My dealer is supposed to be investigating.

    Dodge/Mopar does offer a kit to retrofit the Journey . . . . http://mopar.snaponeasy.com/en-us/Dodge/2011/Journey/partlist.aspx?DivisionId=2&VehicleId=40&Year=2011&CategoryId=1004&GroupId=2081&SubGroupId=5005 Installation instructions: http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82212347.pdf
  12. Try putting Seafoam into the fuel every few tanksfull. Contrary to popular promotion E10 (and even moreso E15) really isn't good for your engine (or the economy, unless you happen to be a corn farmer).
  13. I had an offline exchange with DodgeCares who asked corporate and confirmed the 1 Gig limitation . . . I have ~1900 songs on the stick & the radio is only reading 250 of them . . . . And, as indicated, the horn is routed through the BCM - it is on the Canbus, which is actually quite stupid, since they need a relay to drive the horn because it is an inductive load. So why route it through the controller at all? Yes, there is a delay in going through a relay - likely less than a millisecond. But I'm observing something between a quarter and half a second - I could break out the storage scope and measure it more accurately, but that won't make a difference. I tried to discuss this with the stealer closest to mne and I was informed that they needed to go into diagnostic mode and that if they didn;t find a problem I would be charged. I told them to piss off - I have to get over to the selling dealer to take up the issue.
  14. I'd like to revive this thread and add what I consider a serious complaint about the 4.3 uConnect . . . . In this day and age it seems that there is an undocumented limitation of 1 Gig for connected mass storage. If you have more than a Gig of music (and who doesn't?) the radio will only take the first gig of audio - and that's just wrong. With an 8 Gig memory stick costing less than $8 and given that virtually everyone out there supports virtually unlimited media (even the 2010 radio lineup had a huge hard drive), why should we be subject to this limitation? It isn't as if the USB key is in a easy to access location, either. Another issue I've noticed is that when playing from a memory key the processor starts lagging - the volume adjustments become jerky and the tempo of the music varies (which is what an MP3 player will do when the system can't keep up). It is beyond annoying. Something already reported to Chris here is that I personally find the lag when trying to honk the horn annoying - my 17 year old daughter was riding as a passenger and SHE noticed the delay. Come on Chrysler, get your act together and stop coding in 4th generation languages - all it does is create bloatware. Clearly the processor in the vehicle is underpowered and the code inefficient.
  15. Thanks for the info - clearly there is a 100% markup on the plans themselves . . . . So, what would variations of the 7/115 and 7/150 plans cost a dealer - and how little margin would YOU accept to sell me such a plan for my less than a month old Journey SE PLus?
  16. Unless they're worn or warped I personally wouldn't be touching my brakes - so they squeal? That isn't a problem in my opinion - I just hear the radio!! Having said that: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Journey-09-11-F-R-Brake-Disc-Rotors-Ceramic-Pads-/360381751559?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3AJourney%7CYear%3A2011&hash=item53e86d2107
  17. That's five star service for you . . . .
  18. I doubt you'll ever see Zune support on the uConnect - beyond the fact that Microsoft had no market share, the darned things are close to being discontinued if they haven't already been. It's too bad, because it was an amazing product - I got my daughter one of their 8 Gig ones a few years ago . . . in every way superior to an iPod. However you certainly CAN play your content through your 8.4 . . . but you'll need to plug in via the analogue input and control the player manually. As to contacting 'Lisa' - I gather she works for Chrysler Canada . . ..

Maybe because according to your profile you drive a Mazda?
  20. The sticker you posted was probably locally generated by a secretary . . . often dealers take liberties describing options - e.g. What's a 'lighting group'? The window sticker from my SE Plus (not the original) claims to have it. Chrysler has never heard of it . . . supposedly it was worth $125 - not that I paid for it. And why are the door pocket lights dimmable when at their brightest they are too dim to be of any use?. 2012s will be deliverable Thursday (Sept 1) according to my dealer. Apparently pricing is up for some options and the vehicles are completely unchanged.
  21. Your sticker breaks down the components in the group . . . the 'preferred package' specifies the two option groups and their charges and under each option group it states what you get. Note that the 2012 description of the Flexible Seatng Group downgrades the rear lights to incansescent - but your '11 does not - I presume you do have LED lighting out back?
  22. I don't have any files that start with '0' - however it clearly only reads the first 255 of them - and they're alphabetic - so I get only the 'A' and 'B' songs and those that start with a digit.
  23. I just got my SE Plus and am wondering whether I should pop for an extended warranty and replacement cost insurance. And if I do, should I go with what the dealer is offering or go to the aftermarket? I have owned just one Chrysler before now, always having had either Japanese, European or GM vehicles - the GMs always had manufacturer's extended warranties and I took my chances with the foreign cars - to my serious detriment in the case of a BMW. The LHS was quite reliable until the dealer misdiagnosed a blown head gasket as a leaking water pump and then debnied there was a problem until the car overheated and cracked the head a week after they 'fixed' it. The third party warranty (PPP) had paid for the pump repair, but (not necessarily incorrectly) claimed that they pay once and that the issue was due to a dealer error. The dealer denied all responsibility and both went to great lengths to try and blame me for the problem in spite of the fact that the car was a low mileage unit had been exclusively serviced, more often than the schedule called for, and only by the servicing dealer. (Guess who I DIDN'T buy my Journey from?) In the end I wound up in small claims court to get back the almost $4,000 I laid out putting my car back on the road - the judge made the dealer and the warranty company split the costs - but my complaint was really with the dealer, rather than the warranty company, strangely enough. I tend to keep my vehicles a long time and I did do well financially with almost every plan I bought, though cars have gotten better lately. Then there is replacement cost insurance . . . the dealer wants a LOT of money (almost $2K for 5 years) while my insurance company wants $900 - the insurance broker offers up to 7 years for an extra $500. I figure that the longer you own a vehicle, the more likely it is to be involved in an event that will get it written off, or at the very least to require some non-trivial work to be done that would be nice to have done with new parts. So, what is the collective opinion about these two insurance programs? And would you go with the dealer's or the 3rd party's offering in each case? The questions to answer: Extended warranty, - Yes or no? If yes: - Dealer or 3rd party? - How long (years/kilometrage)? - Deductible? Replacement cost - Yes or no? If yes: - Dealer or insurance company (dealer is a lot more expensive)? - How long (5 or 7 years)? There are no right or wrong answers, but I am looking for some perspective. Thanks in advance
  24. Doesn't your sticker describe the major items for the 'convenience group'? Mine does. The sticker on the reference one isn't the factory sticker, but it does say that the truck comes standard with LED tail/stop lights and that under the 'Flexible Seating Group/ they put back incandescent lighting out back, which is why I asked the question . . . my understanding is that LEDs were an upsell. Only the base Journey SE comes with them as standard.
