  1. It could be a fuse. I could be computer issue or it could be a loose connector to the gauge cluster (in no particular order, though I would check for a burned fuse before doing anything else). I suspect your dealer will need to check it out.
  2. That is what it says. 2011 & 2012 control the aircon (among other things) and previous years used a more conventional arrangement.
  3. Norm The 2011 and 2012 use a very different system which controls, among other things the air conditioning and it is inextricably tied in to the on board network. Previous years used more conventional modular stereo systems.

    Dimmer Control

Youi know, they do document the dimmer in the owner's manual. Then again that same manual says that Bluetooth is standard equipment.
  5. Be aware that you cannot add the Bluetooth (which is NOT uConnect) at this time. If you want Bluetooth on that behicle it'll have to be with an external adapter of some sort.

    Beltalert

Unfortunately, not that I've been able to find..
  7. I clicked the link - $450 for a set of these? OEM ones can be had for about $175 IIRC.

Canadians tend to get hosed on this type of deal - I haven't gotten into the pricing of the entire portfolio, but for your $500 you have purchased 2 years of coverage for your power windows and locks, your air conditioning and radio, since you have a full power train warranty for the 5 years/60K miles already and nothing considered as wear items (brakes, shocks and so on) is covered. For my money I want to get at least a 7 year 100K miles warranty which extends the power train for 2 years and the bumper-to-bumper for 4 and it will cost on the order of $3000 . . . for about $2200 I can get 7 years/80K miles before my hardcore negotiations - since they don't publish retail pricing, I can't yet tell whether those numbers are discounted or not. When our little group has ten committed members I will solicit competitive bidding from a number of dealers and proceed from there.
  9. You know, I've seen Dodge's claim that there is just a 1 mpg penalty for the 3.6 engine over the 2.4, but I wonder how that translates in the real world. Obviously if you drive two identically equipped (but for the engine and transmission) Journeys and accelerate identically the power demand curve will be almost identical (the 3.6 equipped likely weighs a bit more, which accounts for the difference in fuel economy). But, if you take advantage of that performance gain you mention it means that you WILL be sucking extra go-juice from the tank - it's simply a matter of physics. So, in real life situations, normal driving, according to the EVIC I get 11.8l/100km (about 20 mpg) out of my 2.4 equipped ride. What do *you* get? (noting, of course that it depends on your driving style, local terrain, how much 'stuff' you drag around and how much idling you do).
  10. There is no problem fitting the wheels from one Journey to another. The wheels fit and the overall diameter of the tires is almost exactly the same, so no changes are required to the speedometer programming.
  11. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but BT is only standard on the Crew & RT. It is a $395 option for the rest of the models in the US.
  12. You know. those underlined words in the posts that bring up unrelated pop-ups as you try to read? It's bad enough that those Google ads they have cover the entire screen whenever I click a post, but these 'infolinks' are simply a pain because they open windows as you roll past them. In the old days they'd show you definitions and such, but not all I see are yellow pages ads for lawyers and other unrelated crap. 'Windows' and 'Lawyers' bring up a link for hair removal, 'yellow pages' an ad for YAP, there are nail salons, another was for JC Penny. I particularly like the fact that there is an 'infolink' on this composition page for the phrase 'Dodge Journey' that brings up an ad for Ford pickups. . . . NOT. The Infolink item brings up a suggestion that I 'like' them on Facebook. Not bloody likely.
  13. Note: Uconnect is the radio, not the BT feature. And at this point in time you cannot add it to the current model Journeys - nothing prevents you from using a Navigator with BT or a unit that plugs into the Aux input, but it is a lot less convenient. You cannot use the rollerblind cargo cover on a 7 seater because there are no mounting points in the body panels. Look at a blue one in person before commiting . . . I thought it would look good, but changed my mind when I got a good look in bright sunlight. I wanted red, but settled for Black - and it is a very nice metallic black. As to the deal . . . it was an ad that showed up on the MSN home page and I can't know where it applies, since I have dual internet connections, one homed in the US and the other in Canada. But we've managed to hijack this thread. To the OP: Sorry
  14. I saw a banner ad the other day that said that 3rd row seating is currently 'free'. But be aware that you lose the rollup cargo cover and undrfloor storage.
  15. I have the 2.4 and it is plenty peppy though it does tend to spin more quickly than the 6 would and it won't push you back into you seat when accelerating to 90 on the highway. But in Canada the SE Plus is a much better value proposition than the American SE because it comes with the LED tail lights, floor mats, roof rack, tinted glass, 17 inch alminum wheels, cargo cover, body colour mirrors and leather steering wheel and can be had for less than $20K. No matter what you choose, remember to order Bluetooth if you want it. The manual says it is standard, but it is not.
  16. Journey has tether points for all 3 2nd row positions

    Beltalert

I had some surgery that prevented me from doing up my lap belts for a week, so Idecided to disable the Beltalert system. Beltalert is supposed to chime as a warrning and put a message on the EVIC when the vehicle is in motion with unbuckled seat belts - it is supposed to go quiet after a while, which it does when enabled. However when disabled, the chime stops, but the warning message seems to persist - we already have the red light opn the speedo dial and if the chinme is enabled both the chime and message eventually time out. So why even have the message appear on the EVIC when the featureb is disabled, let alone why does it seem to persist? The way it works, it is simpler to cancel the message and let the chimes time-out. Yet another example of bass aackward programming from the geniuses at Chrysler/Dodge. It'd be nice if they would fix the MP3 player, too and perhaps make their manuals and advertising match the vehicles they are producing . . . at least try guys - the manual they sent me for my vehicle last week clearly has Bluetooth as an included feature in the basic package. The official information line also told me to exp[ect BT in my Journey SE Plus with the 4.3 (non sat) uconnect. The manual also says the EVIC doesn't display tire pressure unless you get premium instumentation, which the SE ought not have. Yet my EVIC does display tire pressures, albeit in 6 or 7 kpa increments. Then, there's the fact that they have produced all sorts of FrankenJourneys, with mixed up options, like RT's with 4.3 inch displays and cloth interiors. Then there are the huge load of software bugs, coupled with disasterous diagnostics, discharging batteries, heating systems gone wild, blasting stereos, german displays and such. How about paint that peels from the mirrors on the superior models? If it peels off it is because the surfaces haven''t been properly prepared . . . and the people who reported it have said that the manufacturer has declined warranty claims!! A window lock switch that doesn;t lockk ALL the windows? Is the Journey the only vehicle out there that works this way? I certainly have never had a car or truck from the dozens I've owned and hundreds I've rented (some from Chrysler) that did this. Do the Chargers, 300s, Jeeps, Avengers and other cars that share the electronic platform also behave this badly? I really need to get my extended warranty purchased. Come on guys, join the buyer's group.
  18. I've never had a car that worked that way. If you want it to be non-standards it should be a user selectable feature. Locked windows are just that - not 'most windows locked'.
  19. There's one receiver near each of three wheel wells - the 4th is inferred based on signal strength. With all of the software bugs in the Journey, it wouldn't surprise me to discover that this is just another of them.
  20. That's how it is supposed to work. You'll need to have it looked at by your dealer.
  21. There are 3 receivers on the vehicle and it is supposed to track which is where based on relative signal strength - the weakest is the 4th wheel;. It takes about 20 minutes of driving to relearn - have you not done much driving lately?
  22. That isn;t how my EVIC works . . . . mine displays pressure in kpa and switching to US measure only affects the digital readout for the speedometer.display - nothing else is affacted. My TPMS displays in approximately 1 pound increments . . . 241, 248, then 265 kpa. I MUCH prefer the way the 300 worked, displaying in 1 kpa increments or in PSI - and the printed manual says that I shouldn;t be displaying pressure at all, but simply have an alert light - and the description of the 'premium' TPS shows a dot matrix readout that doesn;t match the vehicle either - then again it also says that Bluetooth is standard equipment.
  23. Nope. In Quebec Esso doesn't add ethanol to any of it's products (yet). And most high octane gasoline has no ethanol. Ethanol itself is an excellent scouring agent, so no other additives are actually required once you are putting that crap into your tank. On balance, ethanol is a huge rip-off and has negative ripple effects throughout the economy.
