  1. Yeah, first of all, there are no incentives in Canada......No lifetime warranty.........and the gas price just went up today to 1.27/L Ouch. Time to finally buy my motorcycle!!! Rick.
  2. Regarding the chrome wheels, I looked at the site again, and they say that the 19" wheels can either be aluminum, or chrome clad aluminum. I didn't see anything about plastic??? The closest I saw was the 17" painted wheel covers. Rick.
  3. I don't notice it any slower than any other site either, even on dial up. Rick
  4. I had my 98 Windstar undercoated when it was brand new, and it was the best thing for it. The undercoating only needs to be done once, but is only effective on a new vehicle. Usually if the vehicle has been driven through a winter, then the best way to protect it is to under oil it every year. Of course that is only my opinion, and because I live in an area where salt is used heavily in the winter under oiling may not be needed in the southern U.S. Rick.

  6. Dodge does sell their own hitch receiver, however they need to cut out a piece of the rear bumper to install it. Also there is an awful looking 7 pin connector right beside it. This info is from the U.S. website. Hitch Receiver Description: Hitch Receiver - 3,500 lb/350 lb tongue, 2" opening. Hitch Ball sold separately. Item Number: 82210403 MSRP*: $215.00 Part Note: Installation Guide: Vehicle Description: 2009 Journey
  7. Welcome jay, firstly the Patriot is available with a 2.0L engine in the front wheel drive model, and a 2.4L engine with the 4WD model. The transmission offered in either Patriot engine is the CVT type. I have not driven a Patriot, but I am sure they are not as heavy as the Journey, and therefore should have enough power. For the Journey, there was a 2.4L at our dealership in March, my dealer called me to let me know that it was in (I wanted to order the same colour) and when I got to the dealer, it was out for a test drive. Needless to say it was sold as soon as the test drive was over. The couple that bought it said that they have no need to drive on long trips with any substantial weight, or tow a trailer. For them it was perfect for 80% city and 20% Highway. They were very happy with the performance. I guess to answer the question, I do not think the engine is exactly the same, but as for output it would be. There are alot of reviews from the car and truck magazines online, and you could take the recommendations from them and make a decision. I hope this helps. Rick.
  8. I agree with you about the Patriot, we originally went to look at a Liberty, but my wife said it wasn't big enough, and we wanted AWD or 4WD. She looke dover to the side of the lot, and said "I like that one". I asked the dealer what it was.............and here we are, waiting for ours to come in. It was an easy sell, after a test drive, and a little research to compare other vehicles. I must have talked to the dealed 15 times over a 2 week period before I ordered it. I think this will be a good selling vehicle. Rick.
  9. Thanks for the pictures, this is the same as I ordered, other that the roof rack. It looks very good. I like the front tint on the windows, I think I will do the same. Thanks again, and congrats.... Rick.
  10. Hey turbo, check out the Nav-tv website. I am not sure the address off hand, but a quick search will take you there. Rick.
  11. I just got a reply back from Good Year regadring tires for the Journey, and here is the quote from the email: "Hello and thank you for your e-mail. We do not have any current plans to support this size. We have no tires in this size. Please see your local Goodyear retailer to inquire as to whether or not you have optional sizes that you can use. Sincerely, Customer Representative, Goodyear Customer Assistance Centre (Canada) I am still waiting for an answer back from other companies. Rick.
  12. Rob, and all.... Here is the closest update I could find from NAVTEQ website. "Chrysler Group DVD Navigation Map Update for North America - version AF $ 199.00 Version: 05064033AF JUST RELEASED! This new DVD map update features coverage across the continental United States and Canada. It contains over 6.1 million miles of road and offers more than 8 million points of interest including more than: 471,000 restaurants 69,000 hotels 116,000 ATMs 93,000 gas stations As I said, there is no release date and the closest vehicle I could compare with is the 2007 Charger. I have also been visiting the "Nav-tv" website, who supplies the audio system, and they also have a forum for the MyGig and backup camera systems. RP
  13. Hey all, I checked the new Dodge.ca site, (they updated it to show a comparison of all models and options) and it shows the SE only available with 16" wheels, but the SXT FWD rides on 17's standard with optional 19's. This tells me that if the FWD SXT can run on 19's then the AWD SXT should be able to ride on 19's. 14. Rob, I checked on the Nav company web site, and they show a "new" release for the maps and POI's, however they didn't show a release date for the software. The update has a price of $200.00, and when I get mine, I will be checking the revision number in the vehicle to make sure it shipped with the latest. Too bad they couldn't include all the Timmies locations as well!! I will look into more of that and post later. Rick.
  15. Hey Rob, as I poster earlier, I did mention it to the salesman about switching to 16"wheels, and he did say that the brakes are the same dimensionally. I could confirm this by asking the parts department to look up the brake parts for the SE and the R/T. That would confirm it. Rick.
  16. Hey Rob, that sounds real positive!! As far as the competition, yes I compared all the vehicles you mentioned and more: Pontaic Torrent.....Didn't even look at the vehicle......Salesman really scared me. Mazda CX9 Didn't win the lottery!! Nissan Rogue Also pricy Ford Edge, and also the new Taurus X CUV, not available with 7 seats Honda Pilot 5 seater Toyota something, can't remember but only a 5 seater. Therefore based on the 7 seat configuration we needed, and price we went to the Dodge dealership and here we are!! Rick.
  17. I had also discussed this with my dealer. I am looking to get the 16"steel wheels, and have the local tire shop match them up with the right size of winter tire. It will save the winter abuse on the Alum wheels, plus the tires. Rick.
  18. Rob, mine is the SXT AWD with: Premium Convenience Group, Flexible Seating, Trailer Tow Prep, Convenience Group 2, UConnect Hands Free, Rear seat video group 1 Entertainment Group 2, VIN 3D4GH57V99TXXXXXX This one has the Nav option, and digits 4 to 8 are for model specific data. Hope this helps. Rick
  19. Well Rob, and Keith....Satrt your engines!! I ordered mine on March 31st. My ship date is April 24th as well, same as Keith, and my VIN is 3D4GH57V99T208XXX Let's see if Keith watches mine drive down the Hwy 17, or vica-versa!!!!!!!!!! :banvictory: It seems as though they are waiting for enough orders to justify a "train ride" to Canada!! Rick.

Welcome Paul, good choice. Will you be going with the AWD? BTW the delivery time is about 6 to 10 weeks!! You may want to look into it before summer break!! Good Luck, and if you have any questions, I am sure everyone on this forum has researched this vehicle to the limit!! Rick
  21. I prefer to have the under oil every fall as it will penetrate smaller areas better. The undercoating has it's pros and cons as far as trapping moisture behind it. I had my '98 Windstar undercoated, and the body is still good to this day. However, undercoating should only be done on a brand new vehicle. If it is not done correctly on an older vehicle, you can trap any moisture or rust beneath the undercoating, and it will eventually peel off. It is a personal preference, however I rather oil spray every year. RP
  22. Hey Angie, weird how the previous vehicles are similar!! I would guess that you are in Ontario? If so, I am 99% sure that the OPP have the right to ticket for tinted windows, however I understand that they usually only use that to allow them to pull over a suspisious vehicle. That way they can justify the reason for pulling the vehicle over. Around here, I only know of one person that had an issue, and I think it had more to do with his attitude that the officer. Rob, BTW I hope your snow storm ends soon!!! :poke:
  23. Hey, I am not sure about the laws in different areas, however I know where I live it is "up to the discression of the officer" to determine if the windows are too dark. I am not sure if that is a Provincial law, or the local police law. RP
  24. Hey fellow Journeyeurs, I just looked through the Dodge.ca (Canadian site), and after building "my" vehicle, on the summary page with the REU system, it shows 1 year Sirius satellite service included. BTW, Ford is offering Satellite radio as well, but only for 6 months, and I think it is XM radio. :bandance:
  25. Rob, those neat little buttons on the back of the steering wheel are for the radio controls. That option was on the vehicle I took for a test drive. As far as the oil change schedule, that was right out of the owners manual. I do remember a big contraversy about the "Mythical 5000Km oil change" as the oil barons pushed for that even though it was proven that the oil lasts much longer. I will still follow the traditional 5K/3Month schedule mostly because of the climate we live in. RP
