  1. Mine has always done it since I bought it... Sometimes, and I mean very rarely (since one of the updates) it will start with a different song... I think this has happened a total of 4 times over the hundreds of times I have started the Journey again.

    Arm,

The current selection will start over when the vehicle is shut off and restarted. I do not know of any plans to change this for the new model year.

  2. I'm new to the forum, bought a used journey 2010 SE,so far so good, run pretty good .Got 60 000km(37 000 miles) on it.have to do 2 minors recalls(keyswitch and the modules). The brakes are fine wont have to do for a long time.I'm sorry to ear that some peoples have issues with tere journey.

    Archy,

If you want to PM me your VIN I will check for any other RRT's or TSB's that may apply for when you take the vehicle in for the recalls you have mentioned.

  3. I have been having the issue with voice command for music as well it just states command not valid or whatever. Also has anyone experienced an issue with the usb playing only a few seconds of a song and then skipping through several others before it plays one through completely?

    Greg,

There are some software updates for a number of radios with this condition. If you PM me your VIN I can check if there is an update for your model at this time.

  4. (Not sure if this is in the correct forum.)

    See the picture attached.

I was looking around the car the other day and noticed that there is no splash shield on the front driver side behind the tire. However there are bolt holes that suggest one should be there. You can see one by the brake hose and the other one is mostly covered by another shield. This opening exposes the side of the transmission to the elements, as you can clearly see. Now when I go to the passenger side, there actually is a cover held down by 2 bolts; the holes are in the same location as the driver side.

I went to the dealership thinking my wife ran over some debris and they said there is no cover on the 2011's. So I went to look myself at the Journeys on the lot and sure enough, neither the 4 or 6 cylinder models had covers, but all had the empty bolt holes.

Is this some sort of cost cutting measure? Did the '09-'10 models have covers there, and will one from those model years fit my 2011? It's a little bothersome to me, to see the side of the transmission exposed like this.

    Tstone,

I agree with Burn. There is no cover there because the exposure is a sealed unit. The other side has components that are not sealed. As far as the holes being there that is for a totally different reason. These vehicles are sold in other countries and the engine compartment configuration for some countries requires components in that location that are not sealed and require a cover.

  5. I purchased a 2012 Dodge Journey SE. Well-equipped vehicle, but I realized it only has AM/FM radio in the Uconnect 4.3 radio that is installed. The deal to take it off the lot was too good, so I bought it. I have two years of Sirius and would like to get it in the vehicle. Is there something I can get that will let me add Sirius to the built-in radio? I know they have the 4.3S option - the hardware doesn't appear any different. Any help is appreciated. If I have to go with a portable radio and plug it in the 3.5mm jack, I will, but I'd rather go built-in.

    bquerry,

Mopar does make a satellite kit but it only is compatible with certain radios. The 3 character sales code should be on the bottom right faceplate of the radio itself. Once you know that code you can check to see if this kit would work. If you have the RBZ radio, which I suspect you have, the product below will not work. This product can be found at Mopar.com

    Product Description

    Part# 82210905AC

Mopar Sirius Satellite Radio installation kits are designed specifically for your vehicle. You will experience a new level of depth and content to radio listening which includes 100 channels of digital entertainment coast to coast; 60 commercial-free channels of music and 40 channels of news, sports and entertainment.

Sirius Satellite Radio Installation Kit, includes antenna, wiring harness and I-sheet. Requires radio with integrated satellite radio (RSC) The radios are RES with RSC, REQ with RSC, REN with RSC or RER.

  6. I'm in the same boat as many of you. I bought a 2011 Journey Mainstreet last week thinking it had the Voice command module in it, since the brochure says it is standard with the 8.4 uConnect system.

I've also been in contact with a dealer(not the one I got the car from) and customer assistance. Customer assistance has been next to useless. The dealer thinks the part should be ready soon. However he seems to think that it won't have steering wheel buttons, and they will have to run a wire for the mic(hes not sure where the mic will be yet). The mic is normally in the mirror.

I for one amy very dissapointed in the sound of this solution. I did not purchase a brand new car to get some wires or dongles hanging all over the place. I also don't understand why we can't get the parts from the factory. I recommend everyone emails chrysler/dodge customer assistance about this to try and get the issue raised to a priority.

    Capn,

I have raised this issue here at Chrysler about voice command on the 8.4 in the Journey's. I have posted on other threads on this issue. As soon as I hear anything conclusive I will post it. Not sure about why they would need to run wires if a solution does become available as they would simply install a mirror that has the feature if need be. Don't want to bring bad news but the radio that does not have the hardware so it cannot simply be a software upgrade and all is well. I will let everyone know if I hear anything.

  7. Tammy,

If you want to PM me your VIN I will check for any service bulletins on this issue. I know there was a software update to the powertrain control module (PCM) on some of these vehicles. Your dealer should run your VIN for any software updates that may be available for your vehicle. While the symptoms you describe may not be directly stated in any of these bulletins, it could cause things like the buildup of carbon over time. If the dealer cannot rectify your problem, I suggest that you call the Customer Assistance Center in Canada to have an agent get a Chrysler tech involved. The Canadian Assistance Center's # 800-465-2001.

  8. TStone,

There is a flash available to the PCM that is available that may apply to your vehicle. It is listed in the TSB I have included below. Depending on the build date of your vehicle this may help the condition you describe. It is the only one I have found that may address your issue.

  9. It's not just in the manual, it's also on the Dodge website. When I do the "build your own" option on dodge.com, it lets me choose the "Navigation and Sound" package. In the details of that package, it clearly states "Voice command of radio and music". What's that referring to if you can't use voice command with music at all? At this point, does voice command work with anything at all besides controlling a phone call?

I'm having a really hard time with this. I can live without voice control for the navigation, but no voice control for music is a deal-breaker for me. My local dealer tells me that the 2011 8.4N does have voice control of music, but he's probably just reading that from the spec sheet. How can this function be in the spec sheet, clearly listed on the Dodge website, and in the owner's manual but not actually exist?

    General,

I do not know what spec sheet the dealer is reading from. The one that I am looking at (dated 4/5/11) specifically indicates the 2011 RB5 radio does not have voice commands. I am not indicating what you should or should not have it but the Sales Code Guide specifically says this under this radio option. I have been told that this hardware has been added to the 2012 model year. As for ordering the 8.4 at this time it may be unavailable because of a raw material shortage. I will check on that and post when I have the answer.

  10. Is there a different Customer Care number for the USA? If I call them, will they know definitively what the 2011 and 2012 8.4 units support or will they just look up the tech specs (which don't seem to be correct)? I'm basing the purchase of the vehicle on this information, so it's obviously very important that I get correct answers. Thanks!

    General,

The Customer Care number for the U.S. is 800-992-1997. The 2012 8.4 units have the hardware to support the voice command functions. The 2011 units need a hardware upgrade, which to my understanding, has not been developed yet. If you need other answers I can try and answer your questions or you can contact the number I have listed above.

  11. DodgeCares, can you please relay this situation to whomever you can at Chrysler, who may be able to do something about this situation? Chrysler needs to make this right for those of us who have the voice command system in our 2011 Journeys.

If there is an email address that we can contact directly, I would be happy to send a detailed email myself.

I have a mail address and the Customer Care phone line listed below. This issue has also been forwarded to the correct people in Auburn Hills.

  12. Hi,

I have had my 2011 Journey R/T for just a month. Yesterday, the sound went out, radio and uconnect . I called the dealership and dropped it off to them today. Hopefully I will hear back from them shortly. I will let the forum know what they say.

    Thanks

    Golf,

This TSB was issued for a no sound condition. Perhaps it is the problem you are having. If the dealer cannot find the problem maybe you may want to bring this to their attention.

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may indicate that the audio system is muted or the audio does not play.

  13. Well, this is truly disappointing. The navigation system is not fully usable when the vehicle is in motion and those voice commands would have been a huge bonus and frankly, should have been there all along.

Can you ask your radio expert when an update will be out that allows voice commands to control music playback? Things like "Play the song", "Play the Artist", etc, do not work, despite these commands being in the manual for the 2011 models. I have spoken to a Lisa from Chrysler in the past a few times, she initially called me to take a survey about my issues/concerns with the Uconnect Touch system. I told her of all the issues that I had and she did get back to me advising that an update had been developed that should resolve most of the issues I had. She initially thought that that update was going to be released to dealers in August, but we are now almost through September and no sign of this update.

I refer you to this thread I started: http://www.dodgejour...t-touch-issues/

If you can shed any light on this update, that would be most appreciated.

    DRB,

Voice commands would fall into the same issue as discussed above. In order for your unit to recognize voice commands it would need hardware which could only be achieved by swapping out the unit, in my opinion. I do not see how they could possible come up with an update to allow a system that was not set up for voice commands to flash it so it does have it. While I am certainly no engineer, I do not see how it could be done but if they come up with a solution the people on this thread will be the first to know because I will post it immediately.

  14. Hi All,

I have talked to the radio expert here at Chrysler and I will cut and paste the questions I asked him and the response he gave so there is no confusion. It looks to me that there may not be any update to the 2011's because there was additional hardware that was needed for these updates to work, they are still working on the feasability of a fix. The 2012 models have the new hardware and the upgrades are available on them. Here are the questions I asked and the responses I got below. Sorry for the bad news...

    Question #1

I [the customer]was reading through the 2012 Dodge Journey manual today, to see what, if any, differences there were in features/functions.

The Uconnect Voice Command Navigation Universal Commands page now has way more voice commands than the 2011 manual. For the 2011 Journey, the only valid voice command for Nav is "Repeat Guidance".

The 2012 manual lists the following voice commands for the 8.4N radio:

    - View Map

    - Where Am I

    - Detour

    - Cancel Route

    - Repeat Guidance

    - Find Address

    - Find Nearest Restaurant

On the next page, it says:

    NOTE:

    1. You can also say "Find City", "Find Favorite", "Find

Play by Category", "Find Play by Name", "Find Recently

Found", "Where to?" or "Go Home".

    2. You can say "Find Nearest" then "Restaurant", "Fuel",

    "Transit", "Lodging", "Shopping", "Bank", "Entertain-

    ment", "Recreation", "Attractions", "Community",

"Auto Services", "Hospitals", "Parking", "Airport", "Po-

lice Stations", "Fire Stations", or "Auto Dealers".

Will an update be forthcoming to give this functionality to us 2011 owners? I sure hope so!

The answer to question one is that the Voice Command for navigation isn't available on the 11 MY radios as there were hardware upgrades done between 11 and 12 MY in order to bring that feature in. There has been no determination on when/if a fix will be available.

    Question #2

I have been trying to determine if this radio (on the 2011) will ever have sirius traffic capability as well as the travel link weather radar maps....can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere..

    Answer

The'12 MY radios will have real time traffic capability. However, the same issue as above for 11 MY. As hardware upgrades would be required for traffic support so no update has been finalized at this time.

  15. That may be the only thing carried over to the 4.3/8.4 head units from the Mygig ones. Apparently all but the base 4.3 system has Sirius standard. I will most likely have to pull the radio to see. Then if I did install the other head unit I would have to deal with the ESN change if Siruis would transfer the service to a different radio.

You can tell what options the radio has by locating the sales code of the radio. Sales code is usually marked on bottom right of head unit on all newer radios to eliminate the guesswork.

  16. I have a 2011 Journey SXT. I have two dimmer controls on the left side of the steering wheel. One to increase the brightness of the instrument panel lights and the other is to increase the brightness of the "door map pockets" and "cupholders".

Question - I'm not able to increase the brightness of the "door map pockets" and "cup holders". Where is the door map pocket located? Maybe I'm not equipped with this feature. Any suggestions. Thanks

I agree with the poster above that the map pocket lights are not very bright. If you PM me your VIN I can at least tell you if your vehicle came equipped with them.

  17. Will they fix mine now that it's broken from trying to close it while trying to drive as it kept opening? It seems the pin that it swings down from broke off so now I have paper wedged to hold it up.

If it's under warranty they should fix it.
