  1. When I turn off Music Cleanup (Gracenotes) I get my Van Halen albums back and I think all my music lists identically to my iPod, but I get no album art for anything on my iPod. Evidently, the Uconnect system does not recognize the iPod art and relies exclusively on Gracenotes? Just to be thorough, I downloaded the newest VH album from iTunes, and those files were also reconginzed as Hale. Rechecked the tags on both the old and new VH files, they are all correct as far as my mp3 tag editor can identify. Renaming to VanHalen did nothing. The Gracenotes data base just continued to recognize those files as Hale. For now I have found that just turning off the Music Cleanup (Gracenotes) is the best solution for me. I'd rather have my music where I can find it, instead of having on again off again album art.

From what I can tell, the weak link here is the Gracenotes file. I can live without having my album art, but I would also be appreciative of a Gracenotes update (or even better, an ongoing Gracenotes update program like that which exists for maps). According to the Gracenotes customer service rep, Gracenotes is a business-to-business service and updates would be issued through Chrysler according to the contract between Chrysler and Gracenotes.

History has shown that Chrysler can respond to software deficiencies (ie playlist update). As new music is continually entering the market which would not be included in our version of the Gracenotes database, I find it unthinkable that Chrysler would not have a continuing service plan to provide updates to customers interested in having those. Clearly, Chrysler is marketing the Uconnect system with the Gracenotes database recognition as a selling feature. If they ignore the fact that the database will begin to be out of date immediately, that, IMHO, is a bad business plan.

I find it remarkable that the only suggestion you could get is above. Really? No thoughts about Gracenotes? I would like the above responder to specifically address the issue of Gracenotes deficiencies and how Chrysler plans to address these deficiencies in the future. Are there updates forthcoming? Is there an update time line that can be communicated? If Chrysler has no plan, I'd like to have the straight scoop.

    Peace.

    Red,

I will post the official Chrysler fix/update when it becomes available. I assume the unofficial site that the person from Gracenotes supplied the link for did not help you out. As far as offering further suggestions on this issue, I will refrain from doing so until something is officially released since any speculative solutions that do not work only seem to making the matter worse.

As far as the timeline for a fix, I cannot offer one. I have reported the problem that you and another poster have reported. Chrysler is constantly working on upgrades to any number of issues and it is unfortunate that that the one you seek is not available at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will post back when any new information becomes available.

  2. I know that there has been some weirdness with the iPod connectivity and the Uconnect system. Overall, I have not had any problems except that my album art does not show for many of my selections. Whatever. . . Doesn't really bother me too much. But I did run into an issue yesterday with my iPod. I recently added some new Van Halen music to my iPod and went to look for a certain album. Couldn't find it under the artist. Searched by album and found it, but the artist was listed as "Hale" rather than "Van Halen". Weird. I have not had a chance to look that the mp3 files to see if Hale is listed anywhere on the properties. This may not be an isolated scenario. I have a 30G iPod and cannot possibly listen to everything. So there very well may be other files like these Van Halen files. I get my music from a variety of sites including itunes and amazon. This Van Halen album was copied from a friends computer and put into my itunes player/iPod. I've got no idea where he got the songs.

Anyway, any suggestions on how to address/fix this? All the Van Halen files and album art are displayed correctly on the iPod, btw.

    Peace.

    Red,

The only suggestion I could get is listed below. If that does not help I will keep my eyes open for a fix and post it when it comes out. I printed the entire response. I would take his suggestion in the last sentence and try to re-name it VanHalen without the space. Let us know if it works.

    Hey Chris,

I would definitely have him look at the data tags. Seeing how he got it from a friend, there's no telling where it actually came from. I have seen people with audio files from different locations that library the data strangely which does cause issues. Let me know what he finds out. You can sometimes go to the album in iTunes, right click and do a rename. He might want to try this.

  3. Picked up our 2012 Journey on Monday nite, literally as the dealer was closing, did all the pre-stuff online.

It is a SE with the 22F pkg.

WE get home late at night...the next day..yea i know...I noticed there was no roof rack, which is included in the 22 F pkg.

    Dealer...response..It is what it is...humm

Chrysler customer service...email..response...well it is included now...not when mine was built....HUH...it is a 2012 SE with 22 F package. At first we thought the dealer just forgot to install it.

Naturally they would not offer to install one, even thou it is a whopping $150.oo for that rack...

    The dealer no go...

So, it almost seems to me, that Should not have Dodge gone back and installed this on the SE's that were left out there with no roof rack on SE's? I mean $150.00 dollars..?

The only difference at all, between an AVP package and a SE is suncreen glass and roofrack all that for additional $2000.00, trust me there is no differance at all between them but those two items.

So of course i wrote to Sergio and R. Bigland boss of Dodge brand. Waiting on there responses, not holding my breath.

(I even offered to pay labor)

Sad thing is we just picked up our 2011 Ram 1500 from this same dealer last month.

Other then given the dealer a ZERO on the Warranty, service and sales surveys. not sure what to do.

Before you all say, i should have noticed it...We were on a different colored SE and the list price was the same and yes i went back and noticed it had a rack.

    What would you do?

I do have a whopping 39 miles on it...

    Dolphin,

In order for me to totally understand what you are saying I would need some additional information. Did you order the vehicle or did you purchase one that the dealer already had on the lot? If it was ordered, when did the order go in? If it was purchased off the lot when was the order date?

Since I do not know the answer to these questions I will try and address what you have posted in general terms. To begin I would say that option packages, option availability, standard features, and even colors change all the time. In fact, since the 2012 Journeys started to be built, configurations have changed 7 times that I could find. If you order a vehicle, the dealer can only order what is available at the time, so not sure exactly what you feel the dealer did wrong as they could only order what was available. If Chrysler decides later to add or subtract features from a package or standard features become options or vice versa later in the model year, the dealer can't control that and I can assure you it happens all the time.

As far as why doesn't Chrysler add a roof rack to all the SE models already built and shipped that did not have them I can tell you that will never happen unless it is on the sticker as having such items. That would be the same as saying Chrysler now has a rebate on the vehicle so all the people who purchased it before now should be sent a check.

The 22F package on the current SE's includes Sunscreen Glass (GAE), Black Side Roof Rails (MW1), and LED Taillamps (LAY). The AVP package became available to be ordered on 8/16/2011 and base MSRP was dropped $2000 from the SE. The SE, at that time had the roof rails you talked about added to the 22F and the base MSRP did not increase from what it was before.

After reviewing the information on the Journey's standard features on the AVP and the SE I believe that adding standard features for the same price while offerring another model (AVP) for a lower price with a few less options was a benefit to the consumer.

If anything I have posted here contradicts with your vehicle I would like to take a look further to try and resolve your issue. If you bought a vehicle out of dealer inventory or ordered it to be built before 8/16/2011 and were under the assumption that what is offered on the current SE models was available all along then I am sorry for the misunderstanding but I cannot offer you a remedy in that case.

  4. Remote start was a Mopar unit, car was ordered with what I wanted on it, everything was factory. It stalls out and loses power, can not brake, use steering, put it in park, HVAC cuts off. Have been lucky it only has happened backing out of my driveway.

Hard to take video, it doesn't happen on a regular basis and when you are trying to keep from hitting parked cars on the road that makes it difficult as well :-)

    Thanks for the help!

    Dog,

It almost sounds to me like the vehicle is not reading that the FOB is in the on position. Not sure where your located but there was a service bulletin for the WIN module on some of the Journeys. My suggestion is that if the dealer cannot figure out the issue then a call to the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center should be made. They can get a Chrysler tech involved to work with the dealer and identify this issue.

  6. I did a search, but couldn't find anything similiar. I have 2009 SXT, 96k miles, with remote start, dealer maintained. In December, I had the remote start on, came out to car, put the key in, had full power. Backed out of the driveway and the car lost power - could not brake or steer. I was able to force the wheel enough to get it over to the side of the road. Took the key out, put it back in and it started up, full power. I changed the battery in the key fob, thinking it was the key fob transmitter, no issues until this AM. Exact same thing happened. I do not get a check engine light or anything, it just turns off and all power stops. Unfortunately the dealerships are like if it isn't doing it they can't fix it, especially if I am not throwing a code.

Has anyone had this happen, what was the fix? Is it possible there is some misfire between the remote start, and the car not recognizing I put a key in and the engine immobilizer is kicking in?

    Thanks for the help!

    Dog,

When you say "loses power" do you mean the car stalled out? Please elaborate. Was the remote start a Mopar unit or an aftermarket unit?

  7. I have the 2.4L and I just noticed how low my exhaust hangs down in front of the spare tire. Is this normal? Does everyone else look the same?post-5184-0-28412300-1329691082_thumb.jp

    Drivin,

I went out and looked at a 2011 model and found that the exhaust was slightly higher that what appears in your picture. Almost even with the spare tire. I didn't crawl under to see if there was a bracket or hanger right in that area though. If you feel it is a concern I would recommend having the dealer give it a look the next time you are in there.

  8. Good Evening

I took my 2009 Dodge Journey SXT to get the oil changed today, I do it beacuse they offer a 54.95 deal for four oil changes. You can't buy he supplies for that price. Lately I have had a vibration sometimes from the right front. So while there I had the dealer look. They called me up and said it was the crossover pipe, first they said it would be covered under warranty but then realized I am out of warranty. They said the pipe was vibrating against the subframe. They said it was no big deal, and wouldn't hurt anything but if I want to fix it, the cost would be $200 total for parts and install. I had thought there was some kind of recall or something on this before. Anyone recall anything about this.

    Thanks

    Meyers,

I could find no recall for a crossover pipe. If you are looking for Chrysler to assist with the repair you can call the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center at one of the below numbers to see if they will assist.

  9. Thank you for your answer Dodge Cares.Fiat send the software's file to the dealers, then the makes a cd (ISO ) to update the uconnect.

A lot of Freemont owner can't fix the problems. The Volume problem is fixed with the last update, but a lot of owner had their park assistance work slowly, it's difficult to pair the iphone, and cd or music skip if you are in Af mode (before and after update).

I'm confident that Dodge and Fiat will solve all the issues.I like this car!!

    Thanks DogeCAre.

Update me if you know somenthing about new softare update!

    Will do.

  10. Hi all,

i'm a new member and i'm from Italy.I'm waiting for my new Fiat Freemont AWD , the same of a Dodge Journey but with a diesel engine.Fiat Freemont is having a great success in Europe , the car is great!

I'm a member of a Fiat Freemont community, and a lot of people are having a recall from Fiat to fix 4,3" uonnect problem.

1)High radio volume when you start the car.

2)Rear park assist crash with a contiuos "beeeppppppp"

3)When AF function (auto frequency) is activated you can't listen your cd, mp3 without radio interference.

4)When you are using the phone with uconnect bluetooth you can't turn off heated seats.

There were 2 recall but when they don't fix all the problems. For example, the last recall, fix the problem of the volume , but now the park assist does not work well.

DodgeCares any suggestion? There are hardware differences between 4,3" uconnect.Only few uconnect are working perfectly.

    Thank you in advance

    Francesco,

Here in the U.S. there was a service bulletin regarding many of the issues you describe. I will post it below. If it does not cure all the issues I have been told they are still working on a few other software problems. I typically post them when available to the appropriate thread. I am not familiar with dealer processes in Europe, though, to be able to tell you exactly how they might proceed with the issue. Over here they will simply order the update disc and apply it to the affected vehicles. I can only assume they would do the same over there. Hope this can be of some help to you.

  11. Thanks Chris. Your info is much appreciated, as always. Any idea why Chrysler made the decision to have DRLs disabled in the first place? Seems like a weird decision considering they are one of the few vehicle manufacturers that actually allow an owner to turn them on and off at will. For the life of me, I can't think of a reason why that would make sense.

    General,

I cannot answer that question but I can tell you that I get as many requests as to how to turn them off as I do about how to turn them on. Some people like them and some people don't.

  12. Check your build sheet too - Mine has the following LMKP Daytime Running Headlamps, High Beam If you don't have this on your build sheet, I would surmise you don't have DRLs. If you do have it on the build sheet, I would print and take to the dealer and show them.

On 2011-12 Journeys the DRL's are sales code LMK and are included in the Popular Equipment Group sales code ALW and the Premium Group sales code ANF. Both of these equipment goups were available on the 2011 Express and Mainstreet models as well as the 2012 Se,AVP, and SXT models as optional equipment and standard on all Canadian units. If you have the LMK sales code the dealer should not have to do anything to activate as they should already be available to be used. If you do not have this option it is my understanding that they can be added by the dealer at whatever price the dealer charges to do so.

  13. My 2009 Journey SXT with 45K miles had developed a damp, mildew smell when it set overnight with the windows up. I felt around on the carpet. I even swung the doors open and closed to see if water had got inside the doors. The I opened the storage box located in the floor of the rear seat behind the driver's seat. It had 3" of water. Of course, eveything in the box was ruined. I got the water out and figured the bottom had got cracked and water from a wet road had made its way up into the box. Then I noticed the carpet around the top of the box was soaked. You couldn't feel the dampness when you touched the carpet from the top side, but if you reached under the carpet around the storage box and pressed the padding, it was completely saturated. So I don't think the water could have come up through the bottom of the storage box and made it all the way up under the interior carpet. I am wondering if it came in around the pillar that separates the front and back doors. I will be going to the dealer next week, but wondered if anyone else had this problem.

    JJ,

Agree with above poster if you have a sunroof. There is also a TSB regarding water leak procedures. TSB below.

    Water Leak Diagnosis

    OVERVIEW:

This bulletin introduces a New Water Leak Repair Manual that should be followed

whenever a vehicle is brought in with water leak concerns.

    MODELS:

    2009-2010 (JC) Journey

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Water leaks from the roof ditch and sunroof area.

    DIAGNOSIS:

A new approach to addressing water leak concerns on Journey models has been

developed and is announced with this Service Bulletin. The New Manual can be accessed

through DealerCONNECT > Efiles. The file is found in the Service section > STAR Center

    > Misc Documents > JC Water Leak Repair Manual. The manual provides detailed color

graphics and instructions to address water leak concerns. The manual is broken out by

leak category (as listed below) and provides all the necessary information and latest

methods to make effective repairs. The Labor Operations listed in the Service Bulletin can

be used based on repair methods used in the manual.

The JC Water Leak Repair Manual has a diagnosis road map that includes the following

    customer concerns:

    i. Water at rear of the headliner.

ii. Damp and/or wet front carpet.

iii. Damp and/or wet carpet around the seats and cargo area.

  14. Thanks Dodgecares.

I wound up cancelling my appointment, since the advisor said they will not look at it unless the radio is acting up when I bring it in. The problem is intermittant and was NOT happening on the day of my appointment. Of course, it happened again right after that. And I just have not been able to get over to the dealer when it does happen. It does not help that after 20 minutes or so the FM comes on. The dealer is 15 minutes from my house, and unless the advisor will hotfoot it out to my (still running) vehicle, it is unlikely it will STILL be not working when he gets there (sigh).

Like another poster said, I tried restarting the car, and that usually works. But I don't think that is a viable long-term solution.

I will ask the dealer to check the bulletin you mentioned. Of course, that means taking ANOTHER day off from work....

    Five,

My suggestion would be to drop it off at night at your convenience and have them give you a rental. When they look at it in the morning it will be cold and hopefully they can duplicate the problem. If they will not give you a courtesy rental for a re-occuring problem then call the Customer Assistance Center and tell them you need one due to your work circumstances.

  15. Good morning dodgecares,

The journey is in the shop as we speak, waiting for the call as to the issue, there was a rapid response for my vehicle, something for the power control module. Any idea what that is about, I'll find out more when I pick it up!

    Cheers

    Darryl,

I would really need to know your vin to know about the RRT for your vehicle. If you want to PM me your vin I can look it up. Unless the dealer gave you the #.

  16. Good evening! I have a 2012 dodge journey crew, 5000 km so far and it's a fantastic vehicle!! But tonight I encountered a problem while driving on a dark highway, I flicked my high beams off and my windshield wipers turned on, and will not turn off, the washer sprayer doesnt wirk also the high beams no longer flick on or off, the turn signals don't work, and the rear window wiper dosent turn on either!! Any ideas before I head into dodge on Monday and speak to service? Wierd and frustrating after only just over 3 months and 5000 km, Other than that love the new ride!! Thanks all'

    Darryl,

Almost sounds like the multi-function switch could have went bad. Hopefully the dealer can figure it out and get it fixed for you in short order. Please post your fix as I could find no service bulletin regarding your issue. Thanks.

  17. As I said earlier I added a quart and it looked like it brought it up to lower portion of the SAFE area of the dipstick. Now this was after the engine was running. I checked it yesterday after it had been parked several hours and the dipstick reading was closer to the top of the SAFE reading probably about 3/4 of the way up. So maybe I was not as low on oil as I thought. Is it true that the oil level reading is more accurate after the engine has been idle for a duration? As I said earlier something smelled hot but the engine temp never got above what it normally reads but it was a cold day also.

    Toknow,

The oil should be checked when the vehicle has not been running for at least a few minutes. A cold engine will give a more accurate reading as the oil will flow back down after having been shut off for awhile. If anyone is having oil use issues that the dealer cannot solve they should call the Chrysler Assistance Center so a Chrysler tech can get involved with the issue. If you added a quart of oil and it was up near the top of the safe zone then it does not seem like you were down 2.5 quarts as you previously thought. Hopefully you do not have an oil issue as first thought but if it continues to be a concern please make an appointment to have the dealer check it out.

  18. I just received the build sheet for my 2011 DJ (shout out to DodgeCares!), and, although it did not come with the trailer tow prep group, the build sheet shows "NHAP Engine Oil Cooler". I'm curious if this is, in fact, the same engine oil cooler that would have come with the trailer tow prep group. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

    Rebus,

The engine oil cooler, sales code NHA, is the same as whats included in the trailer tow prep group and is standard on certain models of the Journey.

  19. DodgeCares,

I've tried researching the FSS myself and it seems that it's a feature of the Mercedes Benz, not Chrysler or Dodge. The manual of my 2011 Journey or the disc that came with the car mention absolutely nothing about the FSS (only mention the "Change Oil" message on the EVIC, that's about it).

Where did you find that info (web-link, search-clue, anything)?

    Easy,

It wasn't in the owners manual it was in the information manuals Chrysler uses for agents to respond to customer inquiries on different subjects.

  20. Andy,

From page 282 from the owners manual.

  21. Hello, all. I'm new to your forum. I bought a new 2012 Dodge Journey SXT AWD ten days ago - my second new Dodge - I also own a 2010 Challenger R/T. This is a terrific vehicle, and I'm very happy with it. My new Journey did not come, unfortunately, with the factory towing prep. But I have a 5 x 10 landscaping trailer and a 17' aluminum outboard boat as trailers to tow, so getting my hitch and wiring installed by a trailer-sales store this coming Tuesday. A few questions -and I did browse and search the towing forum first before asking them - The trailer store's catalog's only had the 2011 Journey and she asked me if I was aware of any changes from 2011 to 2012. I said I don't know - wasn't aware of any. Is this correct? Do you think the trailer store will have any issues hooking up wiring? I've read here about dealers having issues with the wiring - but I think those are a result of trying to use the plug-in harness which must be enabled in the vehicle computer. I'm assuming they'll use a modulite type control with a dedicated power source to splice into the wiring, so I'm hopeful it will bypass that difficulty. Do the SXTs come with the trailer sway control as part of the electronic stability control? Didn't show a trailer sway control as part of my features on the window sticker. Or did I have to get a 'tow prep package' to get that? What will I want to have my dealer add to the Journey? Oil cooler? Transmission cooler? or both? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Jay,

Trailer Sway Damping is sales code BNT and included on the 2012 Journey models as standard equipment. I cannot comment as to if the trailer store you speak of will have problems hooking up your wiring as that question can only be answered by them. The question of what you want your dealer to add, I can only say that is up to your preference, but if you had purchased the trailer tow prep group from Dodge it would have included an engine oil cooler.

If you want to know all the specifics our your particular vehicle you can PM me your VIN and I will send you a build sheet with all options on the vehicle and the sales codes of each option. Congrats on your new Journey purchase!!!

  22. Has anybody ran across any literature specific to Dodge or Chrysler regarding the oil life monitoring system? I'd be interested to know if they're doing anything different from the rest of the pack...

    Easy,

This is what I could find on the official definition of what's called the Flexible Service System (FSS) .

    What is flexible service system?

A computer-supported and sensor-supported maintenance system that allows for individual vehicle maintenance intervals up to 18,500 miles (30,000 km) and servicing at intervals between one and two years, while notifying the driver if maintenance is needed sooner to ensure long life.

FSS calculates and displays in the instrument cluster the distance remaining to the next regular maintenance service based on actual driving conditions and oil quality. The computer keeps a running track of driving conditions and calculates a load collective that correlates to wear and tear on the oil, using equivalency factors for hard driving, normal driving and light driving. The computer monitors oil, water pressure, RPM, vehicle speed, miles driven, load and oil added. It compares this data to a model that determines when it is time to change the oil.

An engine oil level sensor measures the dynamic oil level during driving and also senses oil dilution (thinning) or high metal content. If specific limit values are reached, the driver is notified that an oil change is needed.
