I recently drove from Buffal NY to Orlando Florida (approx 1200 miles). travelled through the mountains of WVA and Virginia. Maintained the speed limits either 65 or 70 MPH. 2011 SXT 6 cylinder with 6500 kms.
My fuel average for that journey was 8.0 liters per 100 kms which works out to approx 35 miles per Canadian gallon or 29 miles per US gallon
Pompy,
The Chrysler Canada Customer Assistance Center number which Windancer refers to is 800-465-2001.

I see this is only for the 4.3 radio. Is there a similar fix for the 8.4/8.4N?
DRB,
I do not have one for the 8.4 yet but when it comes out I will post it. I have a list of problems I check for TSB's every day.
-
Hi DodgeCares,
I just called my service Dept. and did not get anywhere. She pulled up my vin # and it shows no new updates and I gave her the TSB and she said she couldn't do anything with that as there's nothing coming up under my vin. She said that she could schedule me for service and see if there was anything they could do for the issue. I told her no, I'm not going to make a trip in and have all these other things checked when all I want is this update. She said it usually takes longer for it to get in the system then when it hits the news, I told her it was not on the news that I had heard this and told her about the forum. I told her I would wait and call next week to see if it is in their system.
I tried to talk to the Service Directer, but apparently he was not in.
MBFoley
Foley,
PM me your VIN.
-
Thanks Dodge Cares, so glad to hear this. I will be calling today to make an appt.
Thanks Again,
MBFoley
MB,
Your welcome. Make sure you take down the TSB number when you go as many dealers will most likely not be aware of this one yet since it just came out today.

Just bought a 2011 Journey Mainstreet, used (program actually, I believe). Anyone know if there is a way I can look at the original window sticker? Just curious to see it; our Journey doesn't seem to have any of the standard packages. It has the power driver's seat, and the passenger seat storage, but not any of the other options in any of the packages.
Halo,
I cannot get you the window sticker but if you PM me the VIN I can get you a build sheet which will tell all the sales codes with descriptions. Has all the information a window sticker has and more but does not list what each option costs. Will have MSRP though.
-
All,
I am told that if you have a 4.3 or 4.3S unit this just released TSB may correct the song starting over problem as well as a few others. See TSB below.

I asked my dealer about the issue. They've never heard of it, and said there really isn't anything they can do unless Chrysler releases a software update. Should I call Customer Care and officially request a bug fix?
General,
Yes. The number is 800-992-1997.
-
Excellent, thanks! I know the 2012 8.4N is just starting to filter out to dealers, so hopefully other reports will start coming in if it's a software bug. Should I bother mentioning the problem to my dealer? I can't imagine they'd be able to do much without a software update, but I'll ask them about it if it will help get a trouble report submitted to Chrysler.
General,
Couldn't hurt to mention it to the dealer. Maybe one of the techs has a simple solution. Never hurts to ask.
-
Chris, do you know if there's a software update in the works that will stop the system from doing a 10 minute re-catalog of the music on a connected iPod every time the ignition is cycled? I know that it needs to re-catalog the music when changes are made to the iPod's content, but mine is doing it every time I start the car even though the iPod hasn't changed at all. As always, thanks for any info you can provide!
General,
I could not find any updates addressing the concern you have stated. I also have never heard of anyone else having that problem. Since I am on multiple forums I will keep my eye open for anyone else having this problem and if they have a fix as well as if Chrysler comes out with an update that addresses this issue. If I do find out anything I will post it here an also PM you.
-
Exactly my thoughts. I can't understand why a firmware update to the same firmware you have couldn't give us 2011 owners the same functionality.
DodgeCares, would you have any further info on this?
DRB,
I have posted on this thread and a couple others here on the Journey Forum that it is not a software update but a hardware issue. While I understand the frustration on this subject, the dealers sales code guides stated which radios did not have the VR feature which in the Journey's case mostly were the RB5's. Some have said that contact with Chrysler Customer Service indicated that we were working on a fix for this issue. While I am not doubting they may have been told that, I have stated without wavering on the issue that I do not believe there will be a fix because I do not believe Chrysler will start installing new hardware on existing radios, especially when the code guides indicated this correctly. I know it's not the answer people on here were looking for with regard to this issue, but it's the truth as I see it and no matter how much everyone wants to believe a simple software update could solve the issue it will not. I am sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news on this subject and if any type of upgrade does become available I will post it on this and other forums, but I do not see that happening.

Is there any way to find out if there's supposed to be a special incentive in my area for the Big Finish? I'm picking up my car in about an hour, so I'd obviously love to get an extra $1000 off.
General,
Dealer would have current offers or you can go to Dodge.com and select view current offers, enter your zip code, and select the offers on the vehicle you want. I don't know about any "special" incentives though.
-
What's that?
General,
The Big Finish is the year end sales promotion.
-
The dealer, is useless. They sent us home with the car (yes, we did have a rental at their expense) and said that is their policy and 'let Chrysler deal with it' - so after 31 days at the dealer we get the car back - in the same shape it arrived in - same problem. They claim it is 'road safe' altho I'm concerned it might short out or something. Now, one of my keys doesn't work (I haven't had time to check to see if I am able to reset it or if the dealer has to) and haven't even had it for 24 hrs and it's pretty cold here and my windows had condensation all over them - so my kids took to putting the windows down to clear them - guess what - now they won't go back up. It's -4 here and 8pm at night and now I have nowhere to secure my car. Do you want to ask me if I'm furious? (it's bad enough when I got it from the dealership it wasn't even put back together properly and loose pieces and bolts and screws were strewn thru the car - CHOKED is not a strong enough word). An entire month they had it and they didn't even clean up behind themselves.
Will have to try dodgecares..thanks.
Takin5,
You need to contact Chrysler directly at 800-465-2001 and let them know what is happening with the dealership. They will get a Chrysler tech involved to solve your issues and I would suspect they may send you to a different dealer if there is one in your area. No reason for any of this shoddy work to be given back to you.

I got a response from Dodge about the seats:
There was a running change to make leather interior standard on the Journey R/T that went into effect starting with orders placed on after October 4th. The vehicle listed on the window sticker was ordered on October 3rd.
Your order is currently in D1 status (Gateline) and has an estimated ship date of December 16th , and is no longer eligible to receive the cloth interior.
I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,
Shannon Costello
The thing that doesn't make sense is that I was unable to place an order for a 2012 Dodge Journey R/T until the middle end of October. I know because I kept trying to order from several dealerships from about the beginning of September on. So they're basically telling me that I missed the window to order cloth when the window was never open. Bummer.
Patheman,
While the dealers you may have been trying to order from could not place another order on the Journey, other dealers may have been placing their orders. When the model year changeover happens dealers have an allotment which they can order of any particular vehicle, this allotment is also used much of the time on hot selling vehicles. This number may be calculated on a number of factors such as dealer size, location, etc. If a dealer has already ordered their allotment, the other dealers around the U.S., Canada, and anywhere else the vehicle is sold has to have their shot at order fulfillment before the system will again open to your dealer. This prevents dealers from hoarding in demand vehicles. As far as getting cloth with heated seats once this configuration has been changed, I am afraid General is correct that the only way would be if a dealer had already ordered one with this configuration and it is still sitting on the dealers lot.

do the icons on the side mirror light up when defrosting is activated? or is it there just to say that's a feature?
Ricky,
They do not light up on the mirror. If the rear defrost light is on the heated mirror should be functioning as well.

Do you know why the Crew can't be configured with the WPX wheels? You can try it using "Build Your Own" at dodge.com. The chrome clad wheels (which are a $500 option) are automatically selected. You can try to deselect them or select the painted aluminum wheels, but it doesn't let you. All other options can be selected or deselected, just not the wheels. Ordinarily, I would guess that's just a glitch with the web site, but the same thing happened when my dealer placed the order for my Crew. No matter what they did, the chrome wheels kept getting added to the order automatically and could not be removed. That's why I was thinking there may be a shortage of the regular painted aluminum 19" wheels.
I will try and find out.
-
Chris, do you know if there's a shortage on the standard Crew or R/T wheels? The order for my Crew couldn't be configured without the chrome clad wheels. And the Dodge website still doesn't let you configure a Crew without the chrome wheels. The standard wheels are still listed, but it doesn't let you deselect the chrome wheels and select the standard wheels.
General,
Have not heard of any wheel shortages but there could be one. I will keep my ears open and post if I hear anything definite. Size of wheels selected also determine which wheels are available for that size. I have listed the latest standard wheel equipment below.
Crew 19 X 7.0 painted aluminum wheels sales code WPX
R/T 19 X 7.0 Painted aluminum wheels sales code WPY
-
I e-mailed my dealer; here's their (very fast) response:
You startled me! I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and needed to take an additional pill after reading that! It also didnt show your sunroof, but after looking into your order the Journey is equipped the way you ordered it! The wheels show a code of WPY (satin carbon painted) and I confirmed your optional equipment. And it is an AWD R/T. They no longer "produce" the Heat.
Pantheman,
It is true that the Heat is no longer a trim line. The current offerings are as follows from the lowest on up.
American Value Package (AVP)
SE
SXT
Crew
RT
The Crew and the RT should have the 8.4 as standard equipment when not replaced due to a parts shortage. When the parts shortage occurred the 8.4 was replaced with the 4.3.

Anybody know when the heated mirrors come on? Just wondering if they came on with rear defrost, front defrost, or certain outside temp.. I didn't see anything in the manual.
20,
DRB is correct.
Heated Mirrors — If Equipped
These mirrors are heated to melt frost or ice. This
feature is activated whenever you turn on the rear
window defroster. Refer to “Rear Window Features” in
“Understanding The Features Of Your Vehicle” for further
information.

Can you tow a 2012 Journey AWD 4 wheels down behind an RV?
Craig,
Here is the official word from Dodge on the subject.
All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
The manufacturer requires towing with all four wheels
OFF the ground. Acceptable methods are to tow the
vehicle on a flatbed, or with one end of vehicle raised and
the opposite end on a towing dolly.
CAUTION!
Failure to follow these towing methods could result
in damage to the transmission and/or transfer case.
Such damage is not covered by the New Vehicle
Limited Warranty.

Hi DodgeCare
Have they officially released an software update yet on the radio issue? No one seems to know.
Thanks
DHP,
That update has not been released yet. As soon as it is published, I will post it here.

just out of no where my ESP/BAS tire slipply light is on
Louie,
Below is the full decription of functionality of the ESC and BAS systems.
<a name="ssubtopic-1">Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
This system enhances directional control and stability of the vehicle under various driving conditions. ESC corrects for over-steering and under-steering the vehicle by applying the brake of the appropriate wheel. Engine power may also be reduced to help the vehicle maintain the desired path.
The ESC uses sensors in the vehicle to determine the path that the driver intends to steer the vehicle and compares it to the actual path of the vehicle. When the actual path does not match the intended path, the ESC applies the brake of the appropriate wheel to assist in counteracting the condition of over-steer or under-steer.
- Over-steer - when the vehicle is turning more than appropriate for the steering wheel position.
- Under-steer - when the vehicle is turning less than appropriate for the steering wheel position.
<br clear="all">
ESC Operating Modes
The ESC system has two available operating modes.
<br clear="all">Full On
This is the normal operating mode for ESC. Whenever the vehicle is started the system will be in this mode. This mode should be used for most driving situations. ESC should only be turned to “Partial Off” for specific reasons as noted. Refer to “Partial Off” for additional information.
<br clear="all">Partial Off
The “ESC OFF” button is located in the switch bank above the climate control. To enter the “Partial Off” mode, momentarily press the “ESC OFF” button and the “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” will illuminate. To turn the ESC on again, momentarily press the “ESC OFF” button and the “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” will turn off. This will restore the normal “ESC On” mode of operation.
<br clear="right"> <br clear="all">
ESC OFF Button Note: To improve the vehicle's traction when driving with snow chains, or when starting off in deep snow, sand, or gravel, it may be desirable to switch to the “Partial Off” mode by momentarily pressing the “ESC OFF” button. Once the situation requiring “Partial Off” mode is overcome, turn ESC back on by momentarily pressing the “ESC OFF” button. This may be done while the vehicle is in motion.
<br clear="all">
ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light And ESC OFF Indicator Light
<br clear="right">
The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” in the instrument cluster will come on when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. It should go out with the engine running. If the “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” comes on continuously with the engine running, a malfunction has been detected in the ESC system. If this light remains on after several ignition cycles, and the vehicle has been driven several miles (kilometers) at speeds greater than 30 mph (48 km/h), see your authorized dealer as soon as possible to have the problem diagnosed and corrected. <br clear="all"> The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” (located in the instrument cluster) starts to flash as soon as the tires lose traction and the ESC system becomes active. The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” also flashes when TCS is active. If the “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” begins to flash during acceleration, ease up on the accelerator and apply as little throttle as possible. Be sure to adapt your speed and driving to the prevailing road conditions.
Note:
- The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” and the “ESC OFF Indicator Light” come on momentarily each time the ignition switch is turned ON.
- Each time the ignition is turned ON, the ESC system will be ON even if it was turned off previously.
- The ESC system will make buzzing or clicking sounds when it is active. This is normal; the sounds will stop when ESC becomes inactive following the maneuver that caused the ESC activation.
Warning! BAS cannot prevent the natural laws of physics from acting on the vehicle, nor can it increase the traction afforded by prevailing road conditions. BAS cannot prevent accidents, including those resulting from excessive speed in turns, driving on very slippery surfaces, or hydroplaning. The capabilities of a BAS-equipped vehicle must never be exploited in a reckless or dangerous manner, which could jeopardize the user's safety or the safety of others.

RRT 11-078 is for a languge issue in your EVIC. Or the MPH staying on after shut off. RRT 11-082 is for the battery drain issue some are having
DRB,
20journey11 is correct in his explanations of RRT 078 and 082 as stated above.
