my 2011 mainstreet came with the drl lights activated when i picked it up. maybee i was just lucky but i like them.

just seen this topic on the internet dodge forum trucks. have been wanting to get one so i could add the back up camera but was wanting to hear from some one that had done it and how good the screen looked after installing it. the artical i am posting does not bode to good for the lock pick ,dont think i will try it now. I have a 2009 Dodge Ram with the MYGIG. I purchased a Lockpick for it and have experienced the same audio dropouts that others here have. I emailed support@coastaletech.com and Carlos called me back. He told me he was unaware of any audio dropout issues so I emailed him a link to this thread so he could see that others even mentioned they talked to Carlos about this problem. I asked for him to send me a new one and I would send mine back so they could see the problem. He said the best he could do was to try to troubleshoot it over the phone so I called the company at 1 800-507-2234 and talked to Brent. He was not willing to do anything for me even after I explained to him that I have been having this problem since day 1. Obviously, I'm not the only one to be having audio dropout issues so they are not being truthful when saying they know nothing about this problem. Also, they are not helpful at all when you have a problem, they simply say they are unaware of the issue. Not a company I would recommend buying anything from based on the way I have been treated and others here have been treated. BUYER BEWARE WHEN DEALING WITH COASTAL TECH!

just remember that most people talk about their problems with their cars more than owners that are happy with them, and all cars have their own problems. one thing cars are becoming so advance with their bells and whistles and small computers in them,that their are so many more things to go wrong with them. hope they figure tour problem out with your journey and have many more of happy miles.

if a code registered it would be under messages on the evic. you could take it to a auto parts store like auto zone or advance auto they could check it with their meter they use to do it for free.

did you add the rear camera with your lockpic have been wanting to add one but wanted to hear from someone that already installed one. would love to hear if it is as good as the factory installed rear camera. seems like running the wire from the camera to the radio would be the hard part. thanks

sorry if this this makes you mad but if you have been changing your moblie 1 syn. oil every 3,000 miles you have beeen wasting your money as it will be good for alot more miles than that what you should be using is a better oil filter at least. you could go at least 8 to 10 k on any syn. oil change under regular driving conditions as syn. oil does NOT break down as reg oil does but using a better filter is a wise idea. it s like thinking my car runs good on reg gas but will run better on premium gas NOT TRUE,but some folks dont belive it ..

i can almost say that the harness wont have the wiring connections if the car didnt come with a back up camera.meaning you will have to run the wire that coastl provides to connect the camera to the radio. if any one has installed a rear camera in rheir journey from coastle i would love to hear about the pitcher quality ,if it would be as good as the dodge camera

i have been thinking of getting one but havent tried to get one yet, i put one in my 2001 truck hoping it would improve my gas mileage but it didnt help enough for me to notice any better milage but at least you dont have to replace them and can go longer between cleanings with them which on that truck it was kind of a pain to change the filter. please let us know how you like it and if you think it helps on you M.P.G. also if it increases the sound of the engine . thanks p.s. the only thing i ever tried for better m.p. g. was switching to syn oil gained about 1 mpg and went alot longer between changes and have been using syn. for at least 15yrs. i even use it my push lawn mower and never have to add any and that mower is still going strong for at least 10 yrs now ( AND YES I KNOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE 30 WEIGHT OIL IN MOWERS, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT AND CHANGE IT EVERY YEAR. SO FAR SO GOOD)

dont know if their is enough room for the chrome naked lady emblems to be added to the mud flaps. LOL

brake dust will eat into and pit any wheel if left on and never cleaned off. look at most cars where people never rotate their tires and never clean them, the fronts will be mostly black and the rear wheels will look like new. all brands do this.

take it back to the dealership 1 more time and if they still refuse ot fix it, look in the back of your info book that came with the car and if you cant find that ask your dealer to provide you with a phone # of who is in charge of warrenty problems. call them and explain that yes the wind caught the door and blew it open but that still shouldnt have broke the hinge unless their was possibley a defective hinge. tell them at least go halfs on the repaire so that you would remain a happy dodge owner and not a unhappy owner. remenber to be nice and hopefully they will help you out.. this has worked for me years ago when a transmission went out about 2 k after the warrenty ran out . the dealer refused to call so i did and they decided to fix it for free instead of splitting the cost to keep a happy owner as they said it was so close to the warrenty being out. good luck

take back to a different dealer since it is still should be under warrenty . that idiot doesnt know how to fix it the right way.

i have a 2011 mainstreet with about 10 k miles on it , i have noticed that the rear wheels do seem to collect more dust than the front but not enough for me to be worried about ,of course i dont do that much city driving. i did have the dealership at my last oil change they had to turn the front rotors due to a little vibration,wasnt to thrilled about that, as i said i thought they should have replaced the rotors but the service manger said they werent bad enought to be replaced.but i do have it on record and if i have any more problems they will be replacing them as rotors should last 50 to 100 k before having any problems.dont think they will last that long on my journey i have had dodge caravan for the last 15 yrs and never had any problems out of them and did my own brake jobs. will have to learn how to replace the rear disk as i have never changed any of theem before

has anyone actually installed the back up camera in their journey with the lock pic unit. and if so how hard was it to run the cable to the unit and how pleased are you with the way it works thanks

i called coastal about install and parts to add the back up camera he said the camera comes with a 21 foot cable to connect to the lock pic connecter so you mount it over lic plate and have to route the cable thur the hatchback and under carpet or how ever you want to run it. that sounds like the only hard part. wish you could add a gps that would run thur the touch screen also.want to order one but not sure how hard it would be to run the cable. Has any one done it yet? as of 10-14-2011 it would be a couple of more weeks untill they would be shipping any of the units.dont know if they are having a problem making the units or what ?

have a 2011 mainstreet and love it . keep meaning to ask the dealer about where the battery is located and replacement cost as my history with mopar batterys is they only last about 2-3 years. also i have the large display but without the back up camera i been seeing the lock pik and wondering if after it is installed would the back up camera come on after you put the car in reverse or do you have to activate it each time with the steering wheel buttons. one place my son checked for me wants $750. to install a system for me. any info would be helpfull about weather to try it myself. thanks

if your cars are still under dealer warrenty.it is a covered problem that they will take care of , they had to both sides of my 2011 at different times and they always gave me a free car rental while the repaire was being done.

if it is covered under the factory warr. ask them to provide a rental car as it is in for repaires and taking too long. every time my 2011 has been in the dealership for more than 2 nights for covered repaires they provide me with a rental car till it is fixed. i would be calling the phone number listed in the back of your warrenty book that is the main office over warrentys. and if couldnt get any help there i would take all my paperwork and go talk to a lawyer about what recorse you have

looks like a good price for what you rec. about $56. for each piece. will think of doing the same if and when i need to do mine . PLEASE tell us after doing them and later on how they are doing.

thought i had read somewhere that the hood on the journeys were made out of aluminum. so i checked out my 2011 mainstreet with a magnet and yes both the hood and the hatchback must be made out of alumiun. i knew the hood was made of real thin metal as washing it you dont want to push hard on it or while leaning over washing the bottom of the car dont lean on it as you can feel it flex real easy. hope the new metal holds the paint on, and we dont have no problems with them.

well i do have to admit. just got the oil changed again with about 10340 miles and they had to turn the front roters a tad they said due to the pulsesation i was feeling in the steering wheel,told them at that mileage i thought they should have replaced them since most of the miles was on the interstate. but at least if i do have any more problems i have it on record at the dealership. also they did a reflash on the computer for the trans, and radio,and the air condtioner for the problem of losing the settings on the air. still pleased with my journey

i wouldnt be worried about the missing shield as the trans and motor is not going to be protected by a cover made out of plastic . have had my d.j. 6months and hand wash and wax it often and have not ever noticed this. yes it probaly was a cost cutting reduction to save. but i wouldnt be worried about it.

2 questions has any one tried to remove the yellow warning stickers on the sun visers yet.? the viser feels like it is made of plastic and was wondering if it can be removed with some bumper sticker solvent? also wonder about the foot rest on the drivers side floor, could be removed or bent down to give a long leg person another inch so their leg could be straight with out being so cramped on long drive event
