  1. my 2004 caravan had a similer noise for a long time could never find it and it kept getting louder and i finnally found it was a bar behind the engine that had bushings on both ends and right side i dont think was tightened up tight enough at the factory and the rubber bushing had sliped out of the bolts that held it. of course it was on sunday and i had to drive about 300 miles to get back to work so i was able to lube it up a little and got it baack in and then tightend the hell out of it the other side was fine . solved the problem good luck

  2. i always use Wagner thermo-quiet pads they cost about $60.00 and when replacing rotors have always used advance auto cheapest rotors with all my past 4 grand caravans and never had any problems with the rotors giving me any problems( i would believe the grands and journeys weight about the same or close) and first brake job i would do unless having any problems with rotors i wouldnt even turn or replace the rotors and then the next brake job i replace the rotors. dodge must be using sub standard rotors becuse ive i had to have mine turned by the dealer at about 10k and have 21 k on them now and somtimes i am feeling a slight pluse in the streeing and brake pedal when you have to slow down fast at hwy speeds. i am going on a 5k rd trip and wondering if they will get worse by the time i get back.dont know if i will take it back to the dealer or replace the brakes and rotors my self and see if that takes care of it.

  3. i had tohave my front rotors turned on my 2011 at about 10 k and have about 21k on it now and i can feel a little shudder when stopping or hitting the brakes at high speed but when reg driving around town i dont feel no shudder at all when stopping, leaving on a trip to vegas and that will add about 5k more and might have to take it back in to the dealer before the warrenty runs out. see what they will do dont want them to be turned again as i think that is part of the problem even being new as they make them to thin now days. if i have a problem and the dealer doesnt want to do anything about it ill just do my own brake job and put on new rotors as i dont have them turned anymore as new ones are usally not that expensive (but that might not be the case on this new of a car). i did my daughters 2007 caravan last week for her and the rotors were only$35. a piece plus brakes and got a $20. discount code off retailme.com for advance auto so her rotors only cost about 25. each and to turn them would have cost at least $10 to 15 each

www.retailmenot.com/coupons/auto is the correct web site works real good in the U.S. not sure about Canada but you get the codes than order online .i only use it for advance auto stores and then go pick it up right after ordering online i just got a new battery for my truck for $68. tax inculded was a 3yr free replacement 8 yr battery. store price was $110. man i feel like a shill for them but hey it saves me alot of money, i do my daughters vans brakes for her she delevers the mail and her brakes only last her 5k miles LOL her oil last longer than that so i get alot of parts there.Theauto zone codes dont really save you much. hope this helps
  4. in between waxing i use turtle wax ultra gloss detailer with a micro fiber cloth and man does it help remove dust and leave a real slick finnish i even use it on the windows indside and out . doing the rear hatch i set the bottle up by the attenna while i did the back and then did that area next and then went to set it back in the same spot and ir kept sliding off the top LOL now that is slick.

  6. I was told by the dearlership that Chrysler says losing a litre of oil every 1600 km is okay.I've started my oil consumption test for a 3rd time now.2 days after the oil change the oil on the dipstick is at the E in the word safe.So 1600 x 3 is 4800 km,Just short of the 5000km oil change. So I'm putting in 3 extra litres. If Journey owner are losing no oil between oil changes and I'm putting in 3 more .Why should I spend extra for oil when someone else doesnt. So really I'am spending around $90 dollars between oil changes. I'm going to put this in my topic I started.

LOL how much are you paying for a quart of oil syn oil is only about $6.25 and buy a 5 quart jug for any where from $ 20. to $26. for mobil 1 3 times $6.25=$18.75 which i do agree you do have a problem as you shouldnt lose no more than a quart at most, hope you can get some help from chrysler about your problem
  7. yes maybee on the 2012 but 2011 and earlier still having some problems, had to have my front rotors turned at 10k so far no more problems at 21k but going on a long trip to vegas next week for 2 months will see if all goes well. will get my last oil change out there and try to have them use syn. oil my regular dealer didnt have none in stock last oil change may have to but some and see if they give me 5 quarts of reg oil in exchange for me getting the syn for them.

  8. i agree with with moparman also you have 7yr 100 mile warrenty on powertrain thur chyrsler and if any questions with who would cover problem would be between chrysler or dealer as you have documented this occurance. wouldnt worry about it any more unless you hear it aain. also liked the idea of dash cam and recorder, why do you have it for work or what?

  9. Forget it ever happened? You must be joking. We have replaced the front brakes on our 2009 Journey with ceramic pads (twice) and replaced the front rotors (twice). We have replaced the rear brake pads and rotors within 20,000 miles. Now we need to buy new tires because the issues with the brakes have caused uneven wear. Chrysler's rebate is a joke. We were reimbursed for the first work on our front brakes just to turn around and put that money right back into fixing the same problems. Aftermarket parts don't make a difference. Insulting to have any of the blame placed on me for buying a new model. Place the blame on the company for making yet another terrible vehicle.

brake problems will NOT cause uneven wear on your tires ,no way. it is either the front end problems or just a tire problem .
  10. as soon as i got mt 2011 mainstreet i removed the dealers name and all the dodge crap on the back hatch, was easy use some bumper sticker remover (auto parts sell it) and gentley lift the edge of what ever you are wanting to remove. makes washing and waxing alot easier. of course my wife got mad oh well!! lol

  11. dont know about the new ones but older dodge cars you could turn the key on and off 3 times and then wait and it would check the computer to see if you had any codes for any problems you might have for the car like a spark plug and which one it was.was real helpfull to point you in the real direction. would guess you wlll need a machine to check for what you want .or take your vin # to the dealer for them to pull up the info on your car when it was built.. good luck

  12. Holy crap,

I have been trying to figure out why I have been having a wind buffeting

noise. I just put two and two together but it started happening when

I installed the front plate last month. Anyone else hear their plate

    flapping in the wind?

had to do the same thing on my 2004 van drilled the 2 holes and put on my lic. plate never had a flapping noise from it, tighten up thoes screws till they are tight. should solve the problem
  13. my dealership wants about $24 for a filter and havent been able to find a reg filter at the local auto stores for my 2011 mainstreet , so i broke down and bought a k-n filter also. same as destination above said at least after 2 filter changes it will be paid for got mine thur auto anything online for $42. have had one on my 2001 truck with no problems and i already have the cleaner and oil refill left over .so i went with k-n.

  14. found a great deal on parts and other things called http://www.retailmenot.com/coupons/auto, you can get discount coupons at this web site and i have been using them the last 6 months for auto parts using the advance auto web site.just brouse the coupons you want dont forget to look under the name where it says more coupons or deals. then get the code and then go to the website you want and use it. i have only used the advance auto codes but they worked ok both times. i got $20 off purchase over $50. for my daughters brakes on her van she does post office route in the country so have to replace them every 6 months or about 5ooo miles.i just get the codes then go to advance auto web site order the pads and enter the codes and get 20 of the the 60.00 and pay with a credit card and then i go pick them up from the local store about an half hour later. they will also ship to you but i live close to the store. great way to save money.also i alwayd get the wagner thermo-quiet pads and advance will replace them free one time when they are wore out, bought her first set from O"reillys part store but they said they wouldnt do the free replacement so started using advance from then on. also wagner had a rebate going on till 4-30-2012 for $10. so i will get this set for about $34. and then get the next set free so brings the 2 sets down to about $17.00 each brake pad change ,cant beat that deal.ill get off my soap box but thought id spread the word about the deals. dont know if they work up in canada or if you have advance auto up there but they are real good to work with.

  15. that tape is suppose to be there but it is also is to let water out it always leaves part of the hole uncovered but it can be removed without problems. always thought it was a joke anyway... i used to work on the assy. line in st. louis building the minn-vans before i retired and then it was shut down and now all the vans are built in canada.

  16. I've removed the head rests in the 2nd row and popped them back in, no problems.

how did you remove the 2nd row head rest, went to remove mine in a 2011 main street raised them up as far as they would go but it stopped when fully up postion didnt try to force it up to hard .maybee needed to get more rough with it but thought id ask before i break it LOL
  17. i run 36 to 38 also use reg air. it does help get better mpg. soft tires will give a softer ride but not better mpg. nitrogen in your tires is supposed to not leak out or have a tighter range of air pressure from cold to hot. yes you can add reg air but then you start to defeat the reasoning of using nitrogen. for me it is a waste of money but everyone has a different view of using it.as i always check my oil, water, and tire pressure about once a week. do not depend on the tpms to alert you to low air pressure as it isnt that reliable till it might be too low.

P.S. if you have had to add air already to one of your tire better keep an eye on it as you might have picked up a small air leak or nail. shouldnt have to add that much unless you have a problem some where, better safe than sorry

  19. just got back from a trip of about 1000 miles round trip with 2011 main street 3.6 engine with a k-n air filter and using reg oil, mostly interstate miles and some city driving bumper to bumper traffic jam on the way home. after pushing the reset on the evic it said i was getting 26 mpg while driving on the interstate going about 70 mph but i always use the old method of checking mpg by the miles divided by gallons of gas used and it figured out to 23 mpg. which i feel is pretty good considering the 45 min traffic jam,hat we got caught in. hoping when i switch over to syn oil i will get better mileage and from past cars that is usally about 1 mpg better, have 1 more free oil changefrom the dealer and then ill change over.
