  1. Yeah That's what I'll be doing tonight. I'll rotate my tires and see if it makes a difference. It shouldn't be my brakes because i replaced all of the rotors and pads and cleaned and re-lubed everything and torqued it all to spec. I'll still take a peek when i rotate the tires. Will report back.
  2. I noticed something else that goes away after driving a bit: a pulsating steering wheel. When driving to work, for the first 5 - 10 mins I'll notice my steering wheel shakes. The hwy is new so it's not road bumps or anything. My tires are at the correct psi. So now it's: -Noise in the front end when going slow over bumpy terrain -shaky steering wheel Both go away after driving for about 10 mins. Going to try manually downshifting next time I feel the steering wheel pulsating to see if it's engine related. (Since it's happening during first 10 mins of driving I'm thinking it's while engine is warming up).
  3. I've read quite a few threads on this forum about journeys needing their engine/transmission mounts replaced as early as 30k kms so that was at the back of my mind. I did a scan a couple of months ago and no codes appeared except the low voltage code which i narrowed down to my battery (i'll be replacing it soon when it's warmer out). I Agree that the knocking can be any number of suspension components, but it all looked tight and again this noise only happens when i first leave the driveway/uneven terrain and then goes away after driving around. That's what's making me think motor mounts because: a) suspension component noise generally doesn't go away after driving the car around a bit b) the noise could be coming and going because the engine shifts a bit due to the failing mounts, no? That's my thought anyways. Asides from the noise that comes and goes, and the mild vibration in park when warming up for the first about 10 seconds, there's no other oddities or noise while driving. (Except for a mild pulsating in the steering wheel which I'm going to rule out by balancing my tires first).
  4. Hi everyone. 2016 dodge Journey sxt. 70,000 kms. 3.6l engine. There's two things happening that I'm wondering are tied hand in hand to the engine mounts. 1) when I start the engine and I sit there while it's warming up, I feel vibration in the cabin. Nothing too crazy but there's definitely vibration. It also happens the odd time while waiting at a stop light. 2) there's a knocking in the front end when going slow over uneven terrain (like a gravel/rocky/unpaved driveway). This knocking only happens for when I first start driving on the rough terrain and goes away on its own. For example I'll leave my unpaved driveway, hear the knocking like crazy , go for a drive and come home and go over the same unpaved driveway and the knocking doesn't happen. Then I start the vehicle later on or the next day and the same cycle happens. You guys think my engine mounts may be the culprit here? Do any of yous have a little vibration in the cabin after starting the vehicle and it's warming up? Thanks
  5. What's considered to be normal coolant operating Temp? Was in the parking lot and glanced down and noticed it was in the middle so I checked the digital reading and it showed 102 celcius (215f). Will be paying more attention to it now but figured id ask yous what is considered normal temps in the meantime. Thanks Edit: 70,000 kms. 2016. V6 engine. Outside temp today was 4C (39F).
  6. I just connected my odb2 scanner and it was also showing 11.5v with the vehicle off so I'm thinking it might be an accurate read. Once it started, it shot back up to 14.6 (thank god, did NOT want to deal with an alternator issue just yet). Again I'll check the battery posts come summertime but just reporting what I'm seeing.
  7. I agree. It seems way too low. I'm waiting till it's a bit warmer out so I can check the battery voltage right from the posts. Would you happen to know the group number(s) I would need?
  8. Tested the battery with the vehicle off, and it showed 11.5V. Safe to say my battery is the issue lol
  9. Thanks, i'll check the battery tonight when i get home. I'll do a few simple tests while the car is off, running, and running under full load. Hopefully it will give a hint as to what the issue may be. Already researching how to change the alternator just in case it's that. I'm also aware it could be corrosion on the terminals but again, it's too cold for me to do any work like removing the tire, and wheel well plastics to check the battery. Note to self; invest in a garage.
  10. Turns out my coworker has an ODB2 scanner. The code it gave was P0562 - System Voltage Low. I was always under the assumption that my battery was on its way out so I'll replace that come summer time. Going to leave this post here in case it happens to anyone else.
  11. Last winter when it was -40C (-40F), my 2016 journey 3.6L threw on the engine light. It disappeared after driving 50 or so kms and never returned until this morning. It was -30C (-22F) or so this morning and the engine light is on. I'm assuming it will go away again after driving a bit but curious as to what's throwing out the code. I remember reading somewhere how on the dodge rams, this same issue happens and it's the gas cap causing the issue. Any ideas for the dodge journey? PS: I ordered an OBD2 scanner to find out exactly what it is but it's going to take some time to arrive here and i'm a curious fellow and wanted your thoughts on this Thanks
  12. Thanks everyone. It's -30C (-22F) today so I'll wait till we get warmer weather before getting under the suv
  13. Hrrmmm your post reminds me to check to see if it only happens when going straight or if it does it when turning as well lol. Will report back my findings in a couple hours. Also I agree, it doesn't seem to be getting any worse which is why i'm just taking my time troubleshooting it. Hoping to gather some ideas and thoughts on what it can be in the meantime.
  14. 2016 dodge journey with 75,000 kms. Noticed that if I go slow over bumps, or even a gravel driveway, that i can hear some front end noise. Like a soft clunking. On both sides. Only happens when going slow. When going normal speed there are no noises whatsoever. I'm thinking strut mount(s) or sway bar link(s). What do you guys and gals think? Thanks
  15. Lol I'm so curious!!! Can be pushed straight out, but not in. How the hell did they make it?? hahaha
  16. This is more of an OCD curiosity thing, but I have a question that I'm hoping someone can explain: Why is it that when we press the brake pedal, the rear caliper piston comes straight out. But when we have to compress it, we need to turn it? If the piston comes straight out, shouldn't we be able to push it back straight in, without the need to turn it? Thanks
  17. lol...he's messing with you.
  18. Great, thanks for the quick reply. Have a great day!
  19. Hey guys, I just bout my 2016 journey used, with 58k kms. I noticed under the wheel wells that on the front passenger side, there's bolts holding things together but on the front driver side, the bolts are missing. Also there's an extra plastic shield piece on the passenger side. Is this by design or is this from a past sloppy repair? See screenshots. The location is right in the wheel well, in front of the tires. Thanks
  20. I was going to say I think it's related to my cell phone being in my pocket but never got a chance to fully test the theory. Makes sense. Thank you for confirming my suspicion
  21. I'm trying to see if I can solve it without taking it to the dealer since I cannot replicate it on demand to show them I'm not crazy. If the issue doesn't stand out and slap them, they will not diagnose anything or admit any faults. That's why I was hoping there was a tsb on the issue on this site somewhere. I washed the car before it happened last night so I'm gonna see if maybe that's what's causing it. Will keep everyone updated in case this happens to anyone else
  22. Hey guys, Picked up a used 2016 journey with about 58k kms. I noticed that the keyless entry system works about 70% of the time. I'm talking about the door handle sensors. It could be a coincidence, but it seems to happen if I go somewhere for like 10 minutes, like a store or something. It could have been my imagination but I also tried pressing the lock button on the door handle, and it didn't work either at first. Is there a topic or possibly a tsb on this to save myself a headache on troubleshooting the issue myself? I changed the battery in the keyfob and it still happens. Thanks everyone.
  23. I had the update applied a week ago or so but haven't driven at night yet to verify the fix.
  24. I gotta admit, those are some pretty sweet mics. Quality seems way better than my 2012 fiesta, 2012 sonic, 2013 civic, and 2016 cruze.
  25. $1.21 here in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. And that's cheap since it's been around $1.34 for the longest time. About 80 bucks to fill the tank give or take.
