Dead Battery 2015 Dodge Journey

Recommended Posts

Two years ago I replaced by battery that lasted 7 years. This winter with the cold temperatures, many times we had to jump the battery with a jump pack.  Started noticing the fan motor for the heater would slow down.  Then coming home from a Doctor's appointment the transmission started acting up like it was getting stuck in first gear (23 MPH) then catch up this happened the whole way home.  Don't know if it is the transmission module gone bad or not?  Might have to call a mobile Tech. to come and look at it.

Batteries don't last as long on cars, so many power options. Some go after 3 years even. Short trip driving in extreme temperatures also not good; cars need 15 mins plus to recharge the battery to normal state again. Transmissions have electronic solenoids, so a low battery can create weird shifting.

Battery needs a load test, make sure it's holding charge, see if parasitic load draw. Alternator needs a charging test; needs to be strong enough to keep battery fully charged.

Thanks John,

I called a Mobil Mechanic and he came out, he replaced the alternator and everything else was fine.  Except the battery the repair shop we used to use put in the cheapest battery that is made, so that will be the next item to change.  If I would have realized the location of the battery in the Dodge Journey I would not have purchased it.  The transmission is fine and is running smoothly.  I am happy 😀I didn't need a new Transmission as that is something I can't afford.
